Chapter 13: Fourth Aunt Arrives
Yun Nian’an climbed onto the ox cart and sat next to Yun Laotai.
She hadn’t been on the ox cart for long before she felt like her butt was going to fall apart.
The roads in ancient times were really too bumpy; she missed the cars of modern times.
But since the apocalypse happened, those cars were basically useless.
Fortunately, Fourth Aunt’s house wasn’t too far away, and they arrived soon.
Yun Nian’an heard that they had arrived and jumped off the ox cart first, shaking her head.
Yun Lao Si saw Yun Nian’an like this and quickly ran to her, “Nian’an, what’s wrong? Are you okay?”
Yun Nian’an waved her hand, “I’m fine, Fourth Uncle, I’m just shaking my head to refresh my brain.”
Yun Lao Si heard Yun Nian’an’s words and couldn’t help but laugh, “Your brain needs a shake?”
Yun Nian’an glanced at Yun Lao Si, “My brain is about to fall apart; I have to shake it back.”
Yun Laotou’s voice came from behind, “Alright, you two goofballs, hurry up, let’s go over there, don’t keep our in-laws waiting.”
When they arrived at the gate of the courtyard, they saw an old woman sweeping the yard inside.
Yun Laotai went up and knocked on the small gate, and said to the inside, “In-laws, we came without notice; we hope we’re not intruding.”
The old woman inside heard this and quickly put the broom aside and came to open the door.
“Oh, why did you all come at once, and why did you bring so many things?”
Yun Laotai heard this and grabbed Qin Laopozi’s hand, “My old man heard somewhere that we might have to flee, and I thought that the two kids were almost ready.
Why don’t we just bring her back early, but we’ll give you the gifts and money, not a penny less.
We’ve brought all the gifts.”
After saying this, she said to the others, “Hurry up and take the things from the ox cart.”
Qin Laotai nodded, “Yes, it’s a bit rushed, but there’s no other way.”
She quickly led everyone into the courtyard and brought out some stools from inside.
Qin Xue was embroidering flowers in the room when she heard her mother say that the Yun family had all come.
They even brought a lot of gifts, saying they wanted to bring her back early.
Qin Xue heard her mother say this and suddenly felt reluctant; she pulled her mother and wanted to be clingy.
Qin Laotai tapped Qin Xue’s head, “Alright, you’re going to get married; why are you still acting like a child?
If people see you, they’ll talk about you; go change your clothes and come out.”
Qin Xue nodded, “Okay, Mom, I’ll be right out.”
Qin Laopozi then went to the hall to get some water and pour it for her in-laws.
When Qin Xue came out, Yun Lao Si’s eyes didn’t leave Qin Xue’s body.
Yun Nian’an pinched her Fourth Uncle’s arm and whispered in his ear, “Fourth Uncle, your eyeballs are going to fall out.”
Yun Lao Si turned around and glared at Yun Nian’an, “You’re so talkative!”
Yun Nian’an just pouted and muttered, “You don’t love me anymore?”
Yun Lao Si quickly said to Qin Xue, “Come, come, there are stools here; sit down!”
Qin Xue shyly nodded and sat down next to Yun Lao Si.
Yun Nian’an looked at Fourth Aunt; she wasn’t bad.
Her looks and figure were good, especially her eyes; they were quite innocent, she must be young and not have many thoughts.
Yun Nian’an actually liked Fourth Aunt; after all, it would be best if the family could live together harmoniously in the future, otherwise, if there were all kinds of troublemakers, she would have to deal with them every day, which would be a lot of trouble.
Yun Laopozi and Qin Laopozi introduced everyone in their families to each other, and they also introduced Yun Nian’an separately.
“This is my third son’s child. She was a bit unclear for the first ten years, but now she’s fine, look.”
She pulled Yun Nian’an’s sleeve.
Yun Nian’an stood up and said sweetly to Qin Laopozi, “Hello, Grandma Qin.”
Qin Laopozi saw that the only little girl in the Lao Yun family had also woken up, and she couldn’t help but smile, “Good, good, good! It’s good that she’s awake, she’ll be a lucky child in the future.
Come, come, don’t stand there, sit down, I’ll ask our old man to buy some more dishes.
Let’s have lunch in our courtyard today.”
Yun Laotai nodded, thinking that since they couldn’t hold a wedding banquet, it was fine to have a meal here.
How could they come to someone’s house and not even have a meal? Besides, if Qin Xue went back with them and they had to flee,
Their directions were different, and they wouldn’t know when they would see each other again.
When the conversation was almost over, Yun Laotai took out a handkerchief from her sleeve, wrapped the heavy silver inside, and handed it over.
She said to Qin Laopozi, “In-laws, times are really hard now, and we’re a bit sorry for your child.
But don’t worry, Qin Xue will be treated like my own daughter when she marries into our family.
You don’t know, I wanted a daughter so badly, but I ended up having four sons, which made me so angry.”
Qin Laopozi chuckled, and Yun Laotai continued, “I’m not good with words, but don’t worry, I’ll make sure no one bullies your daughter when she comes to our family.”
Qin Laopozi nodded repeatedly, “Don’t worry, don’t worry.”
Yun Laotai pulled Yun Lao Si’s sleeve, “Your wife looks good, don’t you dare bully her, or don’t blame your old lady for beating you up.”
Yun Lao Si shyly nodded, but his cheeks flushed red, and his ears were even redder.
He stammered for a while before he managed to say, “Mom, you know what kind of person I am.
I’ll cherish my wife when I bring her home, I won’t bully her.”
Qin Xue, who was standing beside them, heard Yun Lao Si say this, and her face flushed red, she didn’t dare to raise her head.
Yun Nian’an looked at Yun Lao Si and then at Qin Xue, she had to say, their expressions when they were shy were exactly the same, they really looked like a couple.
After they finished eating, when they were about to leave, Qin Laopozi cried a lot and gave a lot of instructions.
“Xue’er, you’re married now, you have to be more diligent, you can’t be so willful like you were at home.”
“Okay, I know.”
Qin Xue naturally didn’t want to leave her mother, but she still went back with the Yun family.
This was considered getting married, although it was a bit unfair to Qin Xue, even in good times, they would only invite a few important people to their house and set up two tables for the wedding banquet.
Especially in the past two years, the times have been bad, and getting married basically just means having a meal with close relatives, and the banquet wasn’t anything special.
It was basically just a black steamed bun for each person, plus a bowl of soup.
So the Qin family didn’t have many requirements, and since the situation was special now, it was like this for the time being.
When Qin Xue left, Qin Laopozi brought out a dowry box.
Inside the box was a silver hairpin specially made for Qin Xue, and a few pieces of fine fabric.
This was all of Qin Xue’s dowry. When Qin Xue sat on the ox cart and went back to the Lao Yun family, Yun Laotai quickly cleaned up the second room on the east side.
She spread the prepared wedding quilt on the bed.
After dinner, red lanterns were hung all over the courtyard.
The few little kids in the family all sat together, listening to Yun Lao Si tell stories.
