Bai Linglong approached the bedside, her expression instantly sharpening and focused. She observed the young master’s complexion, tongue coating, and took his pulse.
The more she examined, the tighter her brows knitted. The pulse was peculiar, alternating between fast and slow, strong and weak, with no discernible pattern. The pulse beneath her fingertips felt like a tangled mess, making it nearly impossible to decipher.
“Madam Chen, when did your son’s symptoms first appear? Were there any unusual occurrences prior to that?” Bai Linglong turned and asked, her voice calm and steady, as if she were unravelling the threads of the illness to find its root.
Madam Chen thought for a moment and replied, “About half a month ago, my son returned from a trip, saying he felt a bit fatigued. I didn’t think much of it. Who would have guessed that the next day he started sleeping excessively, and it has only worsened since, leading to his current state. He only went to a countryside estate; he didn’t come into contact with anything strange. I’ve considered everything I can think of, yet I truly don’t know how he contracted this odd illness.” As she spoke, tears began to flow again.
Bai Linglong contemplated for a moment and asked a few more questions regarding his diet and daily life, gradually piecing together some clues.
She told to Madam Chen, “I have a general idea of your son’s condition, but I need to confirm it further. It seems that there is a conflict between this herb and the qi and blood within him, compounded by external factors like wind and cold, which has led to this complicated illness.” As she spoke, Bai Linglong slightly turned her body, cleverly using her sleeve to obscure her movements as she retrieved an exquisite, ancient-looking sandalwood box from her mysterious space.
The box was adorned with strange carvings, seemingly imbued with ancient and mysterious power.
She gently opened the box to reveal several jade needles that glimmered softly and a small, delicate jade bottle.
Inside the bottle was the antidote she had painstakingly concocted using numerous rare herbs and spiritual spring water, a blend of the space’s magical powers and her extraordinary understanding of pharmacology, radiating a faint luminescence.
“Madam Chen, I will be using these specially crafted silver needles and this medicinal liquid to treat your son. There may be some unusual reactions during the process, so please do not panic. These jade needles will gently clear the meridians and regulate the qi and blood, while this medicinal liquid is formulated specifically to address the complex toxins within your son.” Bai Linglong explained, her tone calm yet exuding an air of confidence that suggested she was the only one capable of handling the situation.
Madam Chen nodded anxiously, “Miraculous doctor, please proceed. I completely trust you . As long as you can cure my son, I will do anything you say.”
Bai Linglong had Xiaocui help her prop the young master up, then picked up the jade needles. Her gaze became intensely focused, as if the entire world had shrunk to just her and the patient.
She found the correct acupoints and skillfully inserted the needles, her movements light yet precise. Each needle pierced, causing the young master’s body to tremble slightly.
Next, she took the jade bottle and gently poured a drop of the medicine, slowly injecting it into the young master’s mouth with a specialized tool.
The moment the medicine entered his mouth, a faint, strange fragrance seemed to permeate the air, invigorating everyone present.
The atmosphere in the room became intensely tense, with everyone holding their breath, staring intently at Bai Linglong and the young master.
After a while, the young master’s limb spasms gradually subsided, he stopped foaming at the mouth, and his complexion began to regain its color.
A moment later, he slowly opened his eyes, and his gaze returned to clarity.
“Mother, what… what happened to me?” The young master spoke weakly, his voice faint, yet it brought a wave of relief to everyone in the room.
