Chapter 44: Departure

Heifeng’s heart soared with joy. After a moment of thought, he turned to the men behind him.

He raised his voice, “Wang Meng, Zhao Gang, Li Fei, Sun Yang, Zhou Yu, Wu Hao, Zheng Qiang, Chen Feng, Liu Hui, Ma Jun, step forward!”

The ten men whose names were called quickly stepped forward and stood in a neat line.

Heifeng looked at them with a serious and solemn expression. “From now on, you will follow the new Pavilion Master. At all times and in all places, you must do your utmost to protect the Master’s safety. The Master’s life is more important than your own. If anything goes wrong, come to see me with your heads!”

Wang Meng stepped forward and knelt on one knee, loudly proclaiming, “Rest assured, Pavilion Master, we vow to protect you with our lives!”

The other nine followed suit, kneeling on one knee and shouting in unison, “We vow to protect the Master with our lives!”

Their voices echoed throughout Mingyue Pavilion, causing the surrounding air to tremble slightly.

Bai Linglong watched this scene, feeling both touched and somewhat helpless. She said, “Heifeng, this really isn’t necessary…” But Heifeng interrupted her earnestly, “My lady, you have saved our lives. You helped us reclaim Mingyue Pavilion. Without you, we wouldn’t be here today. These ten men are all skilled and loyal in the pavilion. With them by your side, I can rest easy.” Seeing Heifeng’s determination, Bai Linglong could only nod in agreement.

Heifeng quickly added, “Thank you, My lady!”

In the days that followed, Bai Linglong and Heifeng began a comprehensive restructuring of Mingyue Pavilion.

They identified and rooted out those traitors who had colluded with Heihui, publicly announcing their crimes and administering appropriate punishments.

In the main hall, Bai Linglong sat solemnly in the master’s seat, while Heifeng stood beside her, and the brothers of the pavilion stood in neat rows below.

Bai Linglong looked at the traitors, her gaze piercing. “You have betrayed Mingyue Pavilion, gone against the ethics of the Mingyue Pavilion, and committed unforgivable crimes. Today is the time for you to face your punishment.”

Afterward, they reestablished the pavilion’s rules and regulations, emphasizing justice and ethics, strictly prohibiting any further immoral assassination missions.

Bai Linglong personally participated in drafting these rules. She stated, “From now on, Mingyue Pavilion will only take on missions that uphold righteousness and punish evil. Any violations will be dealt with severely.” Everyone nodded in agreement, expressing their support.

Bai Linglong also utilized her medical skills to treat the wounds and ailments of the brothers in the pavilion.

She personally went up the mountain to gather herbs, meticulously preparing prescriptions, and patiently treating each injured person. Those who had been injured gradually recovered under her careful care, their gratitude toward her overflowing.

After recovering, one young brother approached Bai Linglong, deeply bowing and saying, “Master, if it weren’t for you, my leg would have been ruined. This great kindness and virtue of yours, I will never forget for the rest of my life.”

Under Bai Linglong’s leadership, Mingyue Pavilion gradually regained its former vitality and energy.  They began to act chivalrously, helping those in distress.

Upon hearing of a village being harassed by mountain bandits, Bai Linglong led Heifeng and others to rescue them, eliminating the bandits and ensuring the villagers’ safety.

When they learned that a poor family could not afford medical treatment, Mingyue Pavilion sent herbs and silver to alleviate their urgent needs.

As a result, Mingyue Pavilion’s reputation soared, becoming a respected force for justice in the Jianghu.

Heroes from various places came to befriend them, eager to join hands with Mingyue Pavilion in maintaining peace and justice in the Jianghu.

On one occasion, a renowned hero from afar came, and upon meeting Bai Linglong, he cupped his hands in greeting and said, “I have long heard that under Miss Bai’s leadership, Mingyue Pavilion acts chivalrously and upholds justice. Today, seeing it for myself, it truly lives up to its reputation. I wish to ally with Mingyue Pavilion to jointly combat the evil forces in the Jianghu.”

Bai Linglong smiled in response, “To gain the recognition of such a hero is an honor for Mingyue Pavilion. I hope for your guidance in the future.” However, Bai Linglong’s heart was always concerned about Qingyan Mountain.

As the affairs of Mingyue Pavilion gradually stabilized, she decided to return to Qingyan Mountain to continue her tranquil life.

On this day, Bai Linglong called Heifeng to her side, looking at him with reluctance in her eyes. “Heifeng, Mingyue Pavilion is now on the right track, and I should return.”

Heifeng felt a pang of disappointment. He stepped forward and said urgently, “My lady, are you really leaving?”

“Yes, I do not belong here. Mingyue Pavilion is entrusted to you, and you must manage it well, ensuring it does not fall into conflict again. You are upright and possess leadership skills; you will surely lead Mingyue Pavilion to a more glorious future,” Bai Linglong said earnestly.

“Yes, My lady! I will not disappoint you.”  Heifeng replied solemnly, determination shining in his eyes.

On the day of Bai Linglong’s departure, everyone from Mingyue Pavilion came out to see her off.

They stood on either side of the path, silently watching Bai Linglong’s figure gradually fade into the distance.

Heifeng gazed in the direction Bai Linglong had left, silently vowing to manage Mingyue Pavilion well and not betray her trust and expectations.

Bai Linglong, accompanied by Xiaocui and ten men, set out on the journey back to Qingyan Mountain. Along the way, the scenery remained as beautiful as ever. The scenery along the way was picturesque, but her heart carried an added weight of concern.

She knew that her connection with Mingyue Pavilion would forever remain deep in her memory. The bond she shared with Heifeng would also become a legendary tale in the Jianghu, one that would be recounted by many for years to come.
