Chapter 114: The Su Couple Arrives in the Disaster Zone

The roadblocks were cleared in the early hours, and Su Hongsheng and Meng Xian arrived at the safe zone immediately after.

Even though it was late at night, the couple seemed full of energy, defying the fatigue typical of their age. Instead, they were as spirited as young people, growing more animated as the night deepened.

The safety camp leader was deeply grateful for their arrival with supplies.

Although the materials they brought were somewhat mixed due to the rush, they were precisely what the camp urgently needed. A little bit of this and that, none of it singularly focused, yet all highly practical.

After chatting for a while, Meng Xian couldn’t help but glance toward Dr. Dong, the medical team leader, and ask, “Dr. Dong, is Dr. Luo Qianyun here with you?”

Hearing Luo Qianyun’s name, Dr. Dong was momentarily surprised. “You know Dr. Luo? Yes, she came with us.”

Upon hearing this, both Meng Xian and Su Hongsheng smiled.

“We met her before in City A,” Meng Xian explained with a smile. Though their relationship had taken a new turn, Meng Xian thought it was best to respect Luo Qianyun’s wishes and keep things under wraps.

After all, it was evident that Luo Qianyun was an independent person, and spreading news of their relationship recklessly might upset her.

Just as Meng Xian was about to ask where Luo Qianyun was, Dr. Dong said, “You’ll see her tomorrow when she returns from the rescue mission.”

“She’s not here now?” Meng Xian asked, surprised.

“She went with the rescue team to save children from an orphanage. They’ll be back tomorrow,” Dr. Dong explained.

“In such strong wind and rain… this…” Meng Xian grew worried, fearing unforeseen dangers.

Su Hongsheng quickly reassured her, “She’s with the rescue team. She’ll be fine.”

Noticing Meng Xian’s concern, Dr. Dong added, “Don’t worry. She went out with the team leader, who happens to be a former special forces captain.”

“His last name isn’t Lu, is it?” Su Hongsheng asked instinctively.

“You know Captain Lu Yunzheng?” Dr. Dong was puzzled.

Hearing the name, Su Hongsheng’s expression relaxed. “Did you hear that? With Instructor Lu there, everything will be fine.”

“With him, I truly feel at ease,” Meng Xian said softly.

Dr. Dong and the camp leader exchanged confused glances but said nothing further, arranging for the couple to rest.

Eager to see Luo Qianyun the next day, Meng Xian quickly went to bed, anticipating waking up to meet her.

Meanwhile, Luo Qianyun and her team at the orphanage had no breakfast left, as the orphanage’s food supplies were nearly exhausted.

By the time they returned to the camp, everyone was starving.

While Lu Yunzheng dealt with issues regarding Cheng Dabiao, Luo Qianyun and the other three medical staff took the orphanage children for breakfast.

The medical supplies were handled by colleagues, saving them the trouble of running back and forth.

Noticing the breakfast was more sumptuous than the previous day’s, Luo Qianyun commented, “Did we receive more supplies? This is quite the feast.”

“Indeed, a supply truck arrived. It’s said to be privately donated. As soon as the roads cleared, they brought the supplies straight here,” the male doctor explained between bites.

The medical team, seated around a small table, chatted while eating.

“What good people,” Lin Xiaowan praised.

“Absolutely,” Luo Qianyun agreed, nodding. “It’s not easy to reach the disaster frontlines, and those who do must have some level of expertise.”

What she didn’t know was that while the Su couple might lack professional expertise, they had brought along a team full of it.

Soon, Su Hongsheng and Meng Xian heard that the rescue team, including Luo Qianyun, had returned.

Meng Xian changed into an appropriate outfit—practical yet presentable. Despite her considerations, when she finally stood before Luo Qianyun, she couldn’t help but tear up.

Beside her, even the usually composed Su Hongsheng wore a rare expression of emotion.

“Are those the couple who brought the supplies? They seem to be looking our way,” the male doctor said curiously.

Indeed, the Su couple’s demeanor immediately caught the attention of the group.

When Luo Qianyun looked to her right, she saw two familiar faces.

Seeing acquaintances in the disaster zone wasn’t unusual, but seeing the Su couple left her baffled.

She could understand running into Lu Yunzheng here, but the Su couple? They didn’t seem like the type to volunteer, and personally delivering supplies wasn’t necessary.

By then, the Su couple had composed themselves and walked toward her.

“Dr. Luo,” Meng Xian greeted nervously.

Luo Qianyun stood up. “Mrs. Su, Mr. Su, I didn’t expect it was you who brought the supplies.”

“No need to stand. Finish eating first,” Su Hongsheng urged.

“Yes, don’t go hungry,” Meng Xian added quickly.

Although she resumed eating, Luo Qianyun couldn’t shake the feeling that their behavior was… odd.

Her colleagues noticed too, as the couple treated her with an unusual level of care.

Just then, Lu Yunzheng arrived with food, heading straight for their table.

Spotting the Su couple, he wasn’t surprised, having already been informed by the camp leader.

“Instructor Lu, thank you for your hard work,” Su Hongsheng greeted with a smile.

“It’s my duty,” Lu Yunzheng replied. “Thank you for bringing supplies to the disaster zone.”

“It’s what every citizen should do,” Su Hongsheng replied.

As her colleagues left the table, only Luo Qianyun and Lu Yunzheng remained, the latter eating while she dawdled, exchanging confused glances with him.

Clearly, she didn’t know their identities yet.

Understanding her confusion, Meng Xian and Su Hongsheng sat down nearby.

In a gentle tone, Su Hongsheng said, “Dr. Luo, we’ve known each other for a while now, but you probably don’t know our names. I’m Su Hongsheng, and this is my wife, Meng Xian.”

Su Hongsheng and Meng Xian…

Luo Qianyun froze mid-action.

Those names—why did they sound so familiar? Could it be…
