Chapter 57: The Awakening of Luo Qi – “I Want My Sister”
When Luo Qianyun received the news that Luo Qi had woken up, she was having a meal with Lu Yunzheng.
After hanging up the phone, she wanted to rush to the hospital immediately. However, Lu Yunzheng stopped her, insisting they finish their meal first.
Thinking that a little delay wouldn’t matter since Luo Qi wouldn’t fall unconscious again, Luo Qianyun agreed and finished eating before heading out.
Lu Yunzheng then drove her to the hospital.
When they arrived at the ward, the rest of the Luo family was already there.
Amid everyone’s attention, the moment Luo Qianyun stepped into the room, Luo Qi’s eyes immediately lit up as he waved at her. “Sister~”
He even tried to run toward her, but Luo’s motherstopped him. “You fainted again earlier and just woke up. Don’t overexert yourself.”
Seeing this, Luo Qianyun quickly walked up to him. “Brother, do you feel unwell anywhere?”
Luo Qi shook his head. “Sister, are you okay?”
“Why would anything be wrong with me?” Luo Qianyun smiled. “Now that you’re awake, I’m happier than ever.”
Hearing this, Luo Qi beamed with joy.
But Luo Qianyun noticed something peculiar—the rest of the Luo family seemed… somewhat disappointed when looking at Luo Qi.
Suppressing her doubts, Luo Qianyun stayed with Luo Qi for a while longer.
When he finally felt sleepy, Luo Qianyun and the others left the room.
As the ward door closed, Luo Qianyun looked at Luo’s motherand asked, “Don’t you want my brother to wake up?”
“How could you think that?” Luo’s motherwas startled.
Realizing why Qianyun might have misunderstood, she explained, “You didn’t know—when Qi first woke up earlier, his mind was clear.”
“Clear?” Luo Qianyun was surprised. Some had speculated that the accident might restore his mental clarity, but it was just guesswork.
“Yes, but it lasted less than ten minutes before he fainted again. When he woke up after that, he was like this again…” Mrs. Luo’s tone wasn’t critical, but it was clear she had hoped for her son to regain full mental normalcy.
“What did the doctor say?” Qianyun couldn’t help but ask.
“The doctor said this is a positive sign. Qi might gradually regain clarity, but it’s uncertain when—maybe tomorrow, next month, or even next year.”
As they left the hospital, Qianyun turned to Lu Yunzheng. “I forgot to introduce you to my brother. Next time we see him, I’ll make sure he knows who you are.”
“He glared at me earlier,” Lu Yunzheng said.
“Glared at you? When?” Qianyun was surprised.
“Probably when we were holding hands,” he replied.
It turned out that when they first entered the ward, Luo Qi had spotted their intertwined hands and had shot Lu Yunzheng a very disgruntled look.
Qianyun laughed. “Looks like we’ll have to bring him a little cake next time to win him over.”
“What if your brother doesn’t like me?” Lu Yunzheng hesitated.
“Well…” Qianyun sighed. “Then you’ll just have to meet less often. My brother’s important, and so are you.”
The next morning, Qianyun and Yunzheng returned to the hospital, bringing along Luo Qi’s favorite little cakes.
The adorable cakes immediately caught Luo Qi’s attention.
Upon hearing that the cakes were bought by Lu Yunzheng, Luo Qi reluctantly allowed him to sit down.
Then, Luo Qi started dividing the cakes. “One for Sister, one for me; one for Sister, one for me…”
When he reached the last cake, he frowned in frustration. After a moment, he handed it to Lu Yunzheng. “You can have this one.”
Lu Yunzheng accepted it. “Thank you.”
“Hmph! I’m only sharing because you bought them. If you hadn’t, I wouldn’t have given you any!” Luo Qi stuck out his tongue playfully before turning back to enjoy the cakes with Qianyun.
After they finished, Qianyun left for work, and Luo Qi stayed obediently in the hospital, even though he clearly missed his sister.
Later, when Luo’s motherand Pei Xianxianvisited to arrange his discharge, Luo Qi suddenly collapsed onto the bed.
Luo’s mother panicked, calling for the doctors and nurses.
But when they arrived, Luo Qi lay there with his eyes closed and his eyeballs darting around conspicuously.
“Brother, are you pretending to be sick?” snapped, annoyed.
She had never liked Luo Qi, feeling resentment over her own hardships, which she blamed on his failure to protect her years ago. Moreover, Luo Qi’s obsession with Qianyun while disregarding her, his biological sister, made her even more upset.
Caught in the act, Luo Qi sulked and turned his back on them. “I don’t want to go home. I’m still sick. I want to stay here.”
“There’s nothing special about the hospital! Mom and I visit you every day—can’t you be more considerate?” Pei Xianxiancomplained.
“I don’t need you to visit me!” Luo Qi huffed.
“Luo Qi!” she shouted angrily.
“I said I don’t want to go home. I want to stay in the hospital. Sister is here—she’ll visit me every day!” Luo Qi clung to the bed railing, determined not to be dragged away.
“Qi, even if you go home, you can still see your sister,” Luo’s mother coaxed gently.
“I don’t want that sister. I want Qianyun. I want my sister,” Luo Qi said emphatically, as if worried they wouldn’t understand.
In the end, Luo Qi got his way and stayed in the hospital.
When Qianyun heard about this, she was exasperated yet amused. Since Luo Qi had just woken up, she agreed he could stay a bit longer.
That evening, Lu Yunzheng came to pick her up from work, carrying a large food box.
“Are we having a picnic?” she asked curiously.
“No, dinner with your brother,” he replied.
When they arrived, Luo Qi waved enthusiastically.
Hearing that the food was from Lu Yunzheng, Luo Qi hesitated before offering him a piece of sweet-and-sour pork. “Sister likes it, I like it—you can have it.”
“Thank you, Brother,” Lu Yunzheng said, eating it immediately. “It’s delicious.”
Seeing his appreciation, Luo Qi gave him a piece of bitter gourd. “This is good too.”
Lu Yunzheng nodded. “Not bad.”
The next moment, Luo Qi dumped the entire plate of bitter gourd into Lu Yunzheng’s bowl.
With a look of relief, Luo Qi turned to Qianyun. “Sister, all the nasty bitter gourd is gone!”
