Kiss the Medal! With Red Lips! A Sweet and Seductive Military Marriage Chapter 63

Chapter 63: Who Cooked This? Does It Cause Poisoning?

“Don’t say such harsh words. It’s called Jianshouqing. Even the presidents of other countries are thinking about it. It’s a delicacy on earth.” Luo Qianyun said, taking a pair of chopsticks and putting them in front of her, “Eat it up, and we’ll write it off.

“Pei Xianxian, recalling Luo Qianyun’s foolish behavior earlier that day, gritted her teeth and refused, “No way. I’m not eating poisonous mushrooms.”

“The root of this issue is that you made me eat poisonous fungi. Now, there are only two options before you. First, eat this plate of Jianshouqing. Even if you’re poisoned, it’ll be resolved by tonight and won’t affect tomorrow’s filming. Second, well, you can probably guess—we meet at the police station.” Luo Qianyun finished her statement without rushing her.

Pei Xianxian knew well which option she had to choose.

Eating this plate of Jianshouqing would only cost her a night.

But going to the police? That would cost her far more than just time. Her variety show would be canceled, and tomorrow’s shoot would be ruined.

Her career was finally on the rise again. She couldn’t afford to waste this opportunity.

With that thought, Pei Xianxian picked up the chopsticks and began eating the plate of Jianshouqing.

Though she knew the mushrooms were likely poisonous, she couldn’t deny that they were absolutely delicious.

“Who cooked this Jianshouqing? Is it guaranteed to cause poisoning?” Luo Qianyun couldn’t help but ask.

A man nearby quickly raised his hand. “I cooked it. Poison guaranteed.”

The restaurant owner’s wife chuckled. “Every time my brother cooks mushrooms, we get poisoned. That’s why my husband usually does the cooking—his mushrooms rarely cause poisoning.”

“‘Rarely’?” Luo Qianyun raised an eyebrow.

“Oh, we have so many delicious mushrooms here. An occasional poisoning isn’t a big deal,” the owner’s wife said with a laugh.

Luo Qianyun was somewhat impressed.

How come mushroom poisoning seemed so casual in Y City?

The portion of Jianshouqing wasn’t large. Since the brother often poisoned his family with his cooking, he was cautious about poisoning others.

This dish was prepared under the watchful eye of his brother-in-law.

After finishing the Jianshouqing, Pei Xianxian wiped her mouth with a napkin. “I’m done. As agreed, delete the surveillance footage.”

“No problem,” Luo Qianyun replied.

“I want to watch you delete it,” Pei Xianxian demanded.

Luo Qianyun hesitated. “That might be tricky…”

“Are you backing out?” Pei Xianxian’s face darkened.

“Of course not. It’s just… we don’t have any surveillance footage,” Luo Qianyun said helplessly.

“No footage? Luo Qianyun, are you playing me?” Pei Xianxian exploded with anger.

“How is that playing you? You didn’t contact me directly in the first place,” Luo Qianyun shrugged.

Hearing this, Pei Xianxian turned to the restaurant owner and his wife.

But before she could speak, the owner’s wife slammed the table and sneered, “What’s this? You poisoned a young woman, and now you’re blaming others for tricking you? You clearly feel no remorse! No need for further talk—I’m calling the police. Let them deal with you!”

“Without surveillance, even if the police arrest me, there’s no evidence I did anything,” Pei Xianxian said coldly.

“Doesn’t matter. I’ll waste your time. Don’t you have a show to shoot? I’ll make sure you can’t,” the owner’s wife replied, hitting Pei Xianxian’s weak spot and leaving her speechless.

Nearby, Luo Qianyun offered a friendly suggestion, “Pei Xianxian, shouldn’t you call your assistant? If something happens later, I’m not responsible.”

Recalling her past actions against Luo Qianyun, Pei Xianxian felt a chill but decided not to involve anyone else. She chose to leave quietly instead.

Watching her leave without making a call, Luo Qianyun said no more.

After all, whatever happens next is her own choice.

Pei Xianxian ordered a ride-share to return. Once in the car, she closed her eyes to rest.

She couldn’t deny feeling nervous, especially remembering how Luo Qianyun seemed to hallucinate earlier…

“Miss, there’s been an accident ahead. Shall we take a detour?” the driver asked.

Hearing this, Pei Xianxian grew wary, feeling faint discomfort in her head. “No, stick to this route.”

The driver, exasperated, replied, “It’s congested ahead.”

“I said—” Pei Xianxian began, but as she glanced at the driver, her words froze.

The driver didn’t argue further and headed into the traffic jam caused by the accident. Stuck in the long line of cars, he turned to her. “See? I told you it’s blocked. Not all drivers are bad, you know. Local drivers mean no harm.”

Pei Xianxian stared at the skeletal face of the driver, unable to comprehend his words. Her heart pounded in terror.

A ghost!

Though screaming internally, she felt paralyzed, unable to flee.

The driver, noticing her strange expression, asked, “Miss, are you okay?”

Pei Xianxian quickly shook her head, terrified to reveal that she knew his true identity…

Meanwhile, Luo Qianyun and Lu Yunzhen returned to the hotel from the restaurant.

Thinking about Pei Xianxian’s experience, Luo Qianyun was curious if it would be similar to her own.

But spending the night in the hospital would likely leave Pei Xianxian drained for the next day’s shoot.

The next morning, Pei Xianxian arrived directly from the hospital to the filming location.

In the dressing room, her dark circles and poor condition were evident, with her skin visibly dull.

Her assistant offered warm water, “Sister Xianxian, should we take a day off? You barely slept last night.”

“No need. I’m feeling much better now,” Pei Xianxian replied, forcing herself to eat a little in preparation for the shoot.

Seeing Luo Qianyun in good spirits, Pei Xianxian was furious, suspecting that Luo Qianyun had deliberately set her up.

The director expressed concern upon noticing her pale face. Everyone knew about her mushroom poisoning incident, as the ride-share driver had sent her straight to the hospital.

While the director disapproved of her reckless eating, he refrained from reprimanding her further since she’d already suffered enough.

Still, he couldn’t help but worry about how today’s filming would turn out…
