Chapter 68: If Something Goes Wrong, I Can’t Take the Risk

“Why can’t I go?” Song Yunjing asked with dissatisfaction.

“I already said I don’t want trouble. If you go, you’ll drag me into it,” the bar owner replied, placing a cocktail in front of her. “So, no, you can’t go.”

Song Yunjing frowned. “Then at least the bodyguards can go, right?”

“Do your bodyguards carry firearms?” the bar owner asked bluntly.

“…Of course not,” Song Yunjing muttered.

“Even if they did, it wouldn’t matter. If you’re surrounded, they’re just wasting bullets,” the bar owner added.

This stunned both Song Yunjing and Luo  Qianyun. Luo Qianyun couldn’t help but ask, “Who exactly are we dealing with here? Are they armed?”

“Anyone who warrants a joint operation by the armed police is no ordinary person,” the bar owner said quietly, adding, “So, if you can avoid getting involved, you should.”

“How do you know so much about this?” Luo Qianyun pressed.

“My identity is special, but I can’t tell you more,” the bar owner replied. Turning to Song Yunjing, he said, “I’ve said what I needed to. Whether your friend believes me or not is up to you. Just don’t blame me if things go south.”

Luo Qianyun pulled Song Yunjing aside. “What’s your relationship with him? Do you know his identity?”

“I don’t know his exact identity. He just seems very mysterious. But considering how clearly he explained Lu Yunzheng’s situation, he might actually know something,” Song Yunjing whispered. “Why don’t you send him a message to warn him?”

“I suspect they don’t even have their phones with them,” Luo Qianyun replied, her thoughts darkening.

“I’ll go find him and see if I can get him out of there.”

Given the operation was compromised, whatever plans they originally had were doomed to fail. The only thing she could do now was get him out of danger.

“That’s too dangerous,” Song Yunjing protested, grabbing Luo’s arm.

“But I don’t have any other options,” Luo Qianyun said firmly. “Try to see if you can get the bar owner to tell you who the mole is. Team Leader Lin from the armed police is still in the hospital. If he’s trustworthy, maybe he can contact others on the team. We don’t know how they communicate during missions, but they might.”

She handed over Lin’s phone number to Song.

“Do you think that guy could just be joking?” Song asked hesitantly.

“I’d rather it be a harmless joke, but if something really goes wrong, I can’t take the risk,” Luo Qianyun replied.

Seeing her determination, Song stopped trying to persuade her. “Then… be careful. I’ll give you ten minutes. If you’re not back by then…”

“Ten minutes won’t be enough to even find him,” Luo Qianyun sighed.

“Then thirty minutes. If you’re not out by then, I’ll cut the power if I have to,” Song declared.

“Deal,” Luo Qianyun agreed decisively.

Luo Qianyun approached the bar owner about accessing the VIP area. He didn’t object and directly granted her access.

Nervously, she made her way to the entrance. When stopped, she pointed toward the bar owner. Seeing him nod, they let her through.

Inside, the VIP section was just a maze of private rooms.

Navigating the area was difficult, and Luo Qianyun faced several interruptions. When she heard a voice she recognized—Brother Biao—coming from around the corner, she instinctively slipped into an empty private room to hide.

Fortunately, it was unoccupied and completely dark.

When the voices outside faded, she cautiously stepped out and resumed her search.

Soon, however, a group of people appeared ahead.

They eyed Luo, who was alone, with suspicion. One even whistled.

“Shut up. Focus on finding them,” one of the group scolded.

Luo’s heart sank, but she quickened her pace, turning a corner as they passed.

Suddenly, a private room door opened beside her. A hand reached out, grabbed her arm, and pulled her inside.

Before she could cry out, a large hand covered her mouth. “It’s me,” a familiar voice whispered.

Recognizing Lu Yunzheng’s voice, Luo Qianyun felt a surge of relief and tapped his hand, signaling him to let go.

Once free, Lu Yunzheng immediately asked, “This place is dangerous. Why did you come here?”

“Your operation has been compromised. The enemy knows your plan. I came to warn you,” Luo Qianyun explained urgently.

“I know,” Lu Yunzheng replied calmly.

“You know?” Luo Qianyun froze in surprise.

“Since the moment my identity was exposed, I figured as much,” he said.

Still, he hadn’t expected Luo Qianyun to take such a risk by coming here.

“You’ve already been exposed? Then I’m too late…” Luo Qianyun felt a wave of regret but shook it off.

Nearby, Xiao Zhou, one of Lu’s teammates, interjected, “Brother Lu, maybe you and sis-in-law should save the chatting for later? We need to figure out how to get out of here.”

Lu Yunzheng nodded. “They’ll start searching soon. We can’t stay here.”

At this point, Luo Qianyun noticed the wound on Lu’s arm.

“You’re injured again?” she asked, worried.

“Strangely, I seem to get hurt more often since meeting you. But I swear, this time it wasn’t on purpose,” he teased.

“This time wasn’t on purpose… so before it was?” Luo Qianyun shot him a skeptical look.

“…We should focus on getting out of here,” Lu Yunzheng deflected.

Luo Qianyun outlined her plan. She would lead the way, scouting for empty rooms to hide in along the route. If they encountered enemies, she would alert them to hide.

“The exit will definitely be guarded, but I’ve arranged for Yunjing to create a distraction. I’ll draw their attention further while you two escape,” Luo Qianyun explained.

Lu Yunzheng frowned. “That’s too dangerous for you.”

“Once you’re out, Yunjing will send in bodyguards to assist me. We also have a backup plan, though it might involve using shared resources…”

“Brother Lu, her plan makes sense,” Xiao Zhou urged. “They’re targeting you. You can’t stay here. Once we’re out, we can reveal our identities and bring reinforcements.”

Taking her hand, Luo Qianyun said firmly, “Let’s go. We’ll figure the rest out later.”
