Chapter 78: How Can You Not Feel Hot When You’re Holding Me?
Lu Yunzheng finished his quick shower and came out looking refreshed, just as Luo Qianyun had been waiting for him.
“What do you want to eat?” Lu Yunzheng asked, wiping his hair as he walked.
“I want to eat you,” Luo Qianyun replied.
“You’re just showing off with your words,” Lu Yunzheng teased.
Throwing the towel aside, Lu Yunzheng approached Luo Qianyun and kissed her without saying anything further.
Soft kisses landed on her lips, and Luo Qianyun felt the heat of his breath, her mind growing hazy as waves of longing stirred within her.
It wasn’t until he pulled away that Luo Qianyun still felt a little dazed.
“Have you decided what you want to eat?” Lu Yunzheng’s husky voice lingered by her ear.
“We have a cafeteria here, right? Let’s just eat there,” Luo Qianyun replied, still in a fog from earlier. At that moment, she didn’t really care what they ate.
“Alright,” Lu Yunzheng said, not particularly concerned about the food but remembering that the cafeteria had a few dishes she liked.
At that moment, Luo Qianyun had already wrapped her arms around him. “Lu Yunzheng, you’re so hot.”
“How can it not be hot when you’re holding me?” Lu Yunzheng laughed helplessly.
“When I was watching the livestream earlier, I really wanted to hug you,” Luo Qianyun couldn’t help but express her concern.
Although the camera had been focused on Chen Wei in the livestream, she had heard Lu Yunzheng’s voice and knew that he had been at the scene when Chen Wei jumped.
Thinking of Lu Yunzheng with Chen Wei, her mood turned slightly sour. “Well, it’s not too late to hug now.”
“Lu Yunzheng, will Chen Wei’s situation affect you?” Luo Qianyun asked cautiously.
“It won’t,” Lu Yunzheng replied, explaining how Chen Wei had arranged everything, including a confession letter and how the director had called him to show the letter.
He had made sure to sort out his personal matters, and had not forgotten the help Lu Yunzheng had given him, ensuring that Lu Yunzheng wouldn’t be implicated by him.
Luo Qianyun was surprised, not expecting Chen Wei to have handled things like this.
Thinking of Chen Wei, Luo Qianyun couldn’t help but say, “I don’t feel sorry for that mother and child who were killed by him. If the law couldn’t punish them, then Chen Wei had to take action to avenge Aning. In the end, they were the ones who caused Aning’s death and did all those inhuman things.”
“But if everyone did the same, peace would be shattered,” Lu Yunzheng murmured.
“That’s why I can’t think about national affairs. I can only focus on my own small love and little troubles,” Luo Qianyun said.
Lu Yunzheng smiled. “That’s fine. Someone else can worry about the national issues. We just need to live our own lives.”
“Let’s go, I’ll take you to eat,” Lu Yunzheng took her hand and led her out.
At the cafeteria, when the staff saw Luo Qianyun with Lu Yunzheng, they couldn’t help but look twice. They piled her plate high with food.
“That’s enough, that’s enough, I really can’t finish any more,” Luo Qianyun said with difficulty as she tried to carry the large serving of food, which was far more than her appetite.
When she saw that Lu Yunzheng’s plate only had half the amount of food, she was even more frustrated. “You barely have anything to eat, but Aunties, why did you give me so much? It’s like feeding a pig!”
They sat at a corner table. Lu Yunzheng placed his plate in front of her. “This is for you.”
Luo Qianyun’s eyes lit up. “No wonder it’s all my favorite food.”
At this time, the cafeteria wasn’t crowded, and they ate for a while without seeing anyone they knew.
But as expected, the people who needed to arrive eventually came. Just as they were halfway through their meal, members from the third team arrived.
Since Captain Ruan Jianfeng had been taken away, the third team’s morale had been low, and they were penalized with extra training time, which delayed their lunch.
“It’s Lu Yunzheng. Should we go ask him?”
“You can ask him, but I can’t afford to lose face.”
“Fine, fine, you all care about face, I don’t. I’ll go ask.”
…
When Lu Yunzheng saw them coming, he simply put down his chopsticks.
The member who had said he didn’t care about face stood at the front and spoke, “Instructor Lu, we just want to ask if Captain Ruan is in trouble?”
“The person responsible for the interrogation isn’t me. You can ask the security department,” Lu Yunzheng answered calmly.
“But after he was taken yesterday, he didn’t come back all night. His family is really worried,” a member couldn’t help but say.
“He won’t be back anytime soon. However, if he redeems himself by doing something good, he might get a reduced sentence,” Lu Yunzheng replied.
Everyone understood immediately after hearing this.
But some members still didn’t believe it. “I don’t believe Captain Ruan is a traitor. Someone must be framing him.”
“Facts speak louder than words. Whether it’s true or not, you need evidence. They have proof, do you?” Lu Yunzheng directly looked at the one who spoke.
Who has that kind of proof? The member was left speechless.
Lu Yunzheng didn’t want to deal with them further and lowered his head to continue eating.
After finishing their meal, he still needed to take Luo Qianyun back to the hospital, so he couldn’t waste time.
Luo Qianyun ate while listening, and soon felt quite full.
On the way to the hospital, Luo Qianyun was curious about how Lu Yunzheng had figured out that Ruan Jianfeng was a traitor.
“At first, I wasn’t sure, but Chen Wei had been undercover for so long that he must have gathered some information. The operation that got leaked earlier was his. Chen Wei’s investigation skills are top-notch, and he suspected Ruan Jianfeng. This time, the evidence about Ruan Jianfeng being a traitor came with the delivery to the police station,” Lu Yunzheng explained.
“When I got in touch with Chen Wei, he didn’t trust me completely at first, and I didn’t either. After all, we were from opposing sides, and we both feared being used for information. So, he didn’t tell me everything, but he did hint that Ruan Jianfeng was under suspicion.”
“Then why did he lie to you, saying his grandmother was at the third hospital?” Luo Qianyun asked.
“Who knows? Maybe he really didn’t care about maintaining that lie anymore. It was such an obvious lie; maybe he just didn’t care about covering it up,” Lu Yunzheng replied.
Luo Qianyun couldn’t figure it out. After all, the person involved was dead, and who could know what his thoughts were?
Over the next few days, the aftermath of Chen Wei’s death began to unfold. At least his goal had been achieved.
But now, Lu Yunzheng would soon be leaving…
Only two days remained before Lu Yunzheng had to return to his team, and Luo Qianyun had taken a leave just to be with him.
The closer it got to his departure, the more reluctant she was.
But she didn’t expect that early in the morning, someone would interrupt their time together…
She wondered who it was who didn’t know how to read the situation.
