Chapter 92: The Sudden Appearance of Lu Yunzheng
“I’m not targeting anyone; I’m just discussing perspectives,” Luo Qianyun said calmly.
Their back-and-forth debate soon drew the attention of many attendees.
Whether it was Meng Xirou’s bold innovations or Luo Qianyun’s steady prudence, both had their supporters.
Unwilling to back down, Meng Xirou argued, “Take the recent case of that rare autoimmune disease. The conventional steroid shock treatment was ineffective. But with the new approach I proposed, which involved regulating cell signaling pathways, the patient’s condition was visibly controlled.”
“That’s just a case study and doesn’t represent a universal trend. Moreover, the treatment process might have been influenced by other factors, such as the patient’s individual differences or environmental factors,” Luo Qianyun responded evenly.
Their heated discussion ended without a clear winner, requiring the seminar host to step in and mediate.
Neither Luo Qianyun nor Meng Xirou seemed bothered by the lack of a resolution.
On the contrary, once things settled down, Meng Xirou found Luo Qianyun surprisingly less irritating.
Realizing this, she frowned, wondering if she’d gone mad.
What neither of them expected was that they’d clash again at the seminar the next day…
This time, it was about minimally invasive versus traditional open surgeries.
Meng Xirou insisted that the precision and minimal trauma of minimally invasive surgeries represented a significant advancement in modern medicine, reducing blood loss, shortening recovery time, and enabling patients to return to their lives more quickly.
Luo Qianyun countered that while the benefits of minimally invasive surgery couldn’t be denied, the comprehensive view and reliability of direct operations in traditional open surgery shouldn’t be overlooked.
“When dealing with complex and severe conditions, open surgery can resolve issues more thoroughly,” she argued.
“Large incisions and longer recovery times often impose greater psychological and physical stress on patients,” Meng Xirou shot back.
“And minimally invasive surgeries have high technical demands, expensive equipment, and potential visual limitations,” Luo Qianyun replied.
Despite their ongoing debate, the other attendees didn’t see anything wrong with it.
After all, seminars were meant for discussions.
However, during lunch, Meng Xirou cornered Luo Qianyun. “Why are you always opposing me?”
“I’m not opposing you. You present your perspective, and I present mine. They just happen to differ,” Luo Qianyun explained.
Meng Xirou had no response to that.
Luckily, during the final seminar in the afternoon, the two didn’t confront each other again.
As the day drew to a close, Luo Qianyun’s mood brightened—after a good night’s sleep, she could go find Lu Yunzheng tomorrow.
When the seminar ended, Luo Qianyun was leaving with her mentor when Meng Xirou caught up to her. “Luo Qianyun!”
Turning to look at her, Luo Qianyun was puzzled. “What’s wrong? I didn’t contradict your points this afternoon.”
“I never said you couldn’t. Don’t make me sound so domineering,” Meng Xirou dropped her pretense entirely.
“Do you want to add me on WeChat?” she asked awkwardly.
“WeChat?” Luo Qianyun was surprised.
She hadn’t seen this coming.
“What’s with that look? I add plenty of people on WeChat. It’s for discussing ideas,” Meng Xirou explained.
Luo Qianyun didn’t mind and immediately took out her phone. “Sure, should I scan yours?”
“Mm,” Meng Xirou handed her the QR code.
After they added each other, Meng Xirou tucked her phone away. “I know a lot of people in Beijing. If you ever need help, just message me.”
Luo Qianyun smiled and nodded. “Okay.”
Back at the hotel, Chen Mingsheng glanced at Luo Qianyun. “I’m heading back early tomorrow. Be careful while you’re in Beijing.”
“Don’t worry, teacher. I’m just going to the military district to see Lu Yunzheng. Nothing will happen,” she reassured him.
“Still, be cautious. Don’t hesitate to call the Lu family if anything comes up,” Chen Mingsheng reminded her.
Luo Qianyun obediently nodded.
What she didn’t expect was how quickly she’d see Lu Yunzheng…
That evening, when Luo Qianyun suddenly craved crayfish, Lu Yunzheng ordered takeout for her.
What she hadn’t anticipated was that the crayfish arrived—with Lu Yunzheng himself.
Or rather, Lu Yunzheng brought the crayfish.
Seeing him at her door, Luo Qianyun was momentarily stunned. “What are you doing here?”
The next moment, Lu Yunzheng leaned in and kissed her.
His familiar scent enveloped her, and the intense heat of his kiss nearly drowned her.
When he finally released her, she panted softly, her eyes misty. “You still haven’t told me…why are you here?”
Her soft, delicate voice darkened Lu Yunzheng’s gaze. “I missed you.”
Noticing someone passing by and glancing their way, Luo Qianyun belatedly realized they were still at the door. She glared at him. “Let’s go inside.”
Hearing this, Lu Yunzheng chuckled and kicked the door shut before carrying her to the sofa.
When Luo Qianyun saw the crayfish on the coffee table, she remembered. “That’s my crayfish!”
But when she tried to move, Lu Yunzheng wouldn’t let her go.
“How am I supposed to eat like this?” she muttered.
“I’ll peel them for you,” he replied.
Since he insisted, Luo Qianyun happily agreed. “Alright~”
To her surprise, he kept his word.
Snuggled in his arms, Luo Qianyun watched a variety show and ate crayfish, occasionally laughing out loud.
“Is it good?” Lu Yunzheng asked.
“It’s delicious. You should have some too,” she said, looking up at him.
“Will you feed me?”
“You’re holding one already,” she pointed to the crayfish in his hand.
“I’d prefer if you fed me,” he teased.
Got it! Luo Qianyun understood.
She bit into the crayfish in his hand and fed it to him, sneaking in a quick kiss.
“How is it? Super tasty, right?” she smiled.
Lu Yunzheng nodded. “Delicious.”
After they finished, she cupped his face in her hands. “So, tell me, how did you leave the military district? Did you waste a day of leave?”
“I had a mission to complete. It didn’t use my leave time,” he replied.
“You’re on a mission? So I came here for nothing?” Luo Qianyun pouted.
“The mission is already over,” he said.
“Don’t scare me like that,” she sighed with relief. She’d nearly wasted her trip.
