Limited Marriage Contract
Limited Marriage Contract Chapter 10.1

On the last day of work before the New Year, there was an annual meeting. Wen Yi, Tian Jia, and their respective apprentices sat together.

Tian Jia leaned over and whispered, “I still can’t figure it out. How come you suddenly got married when everything was fine? Are you pregnant?”

Wen Yi glanced at her, and Tian Jia understood. “I thought you were a different person; you’re not wearing high heels and didn’t put on any makeup.”

Having already held the wedding, Wen Yi no longer hid it. “When the leaders come to toast later, you need to help me out.”

“How should I do that?”

“Let’s wait until after the New Year.” The senior leaders were often bored during the Spring Festival, preferring to ponder deeply. Moreover, the employee turnover rate was high around the New Year, and the first thing they did when returning to work was job adjustments. She didn’t want to be transferred to an administrative position.

Tian Jia understood and said it was no problem.

Then, curious, she asked, “Where did you find your partner? He’s quite handsome, even better than Wei Yuan.”

Tian Jia had only seen Wen Yi’s husband at the wedding. He was tall, and Wen Yi looked like a little bird beside him. He wore his suit impeccably, his features were well-defined, and his eyes were clean and gentle, though he didn’t smile much, which made him seem a bit serious.

Tian Jia remembered he had only smiled twice. The first time was when the wedding host asked the groom to kiss the bride after they exchanged rings. The man’s lips curved slightly as he shared a few gazes with the bride before cupping her face and giving her a delicate kiss. In that moment, Tian Jia suddenly thought that Wen Yi had married the right person.

The second time was during the toast. Their table was filled with colleagues who had a strong bond with Wen Yi, so naturally, they couldn’t resist teasing the groom. They piled up several beer glasses on the red envelope, and the bride, feeling heartbroken, asked them not to ruin their wedding night. Everyone joined in the fun, making a few jokes, and all the beer was drunk by their side.

Tian Jia glanced over and saw a fleeting smile on the man’s face.

When he smiled, he was really handsome, like a movie star. The key was his demeanor, which exuded a fragrance like fresh pine, as if he came from a cultured family. At that moment, Tian Jia deliberately looked at the main table and found that the groom’s family was indeed not made up of ordinary people.

Next to her, Wen Yi’s apprentice, Song Qingqing, chimed in, “Yes, yes, and brother-in-law looks very intelligent at first glance.”

The kids who couldn’t attend the wedding all wanted to see photos, and Song Qingqing generously pulled out her phone to share pictures from the wedding. The kids were excited and kept asking about the couple’s romance.

Wen Yi had a ready-made story, so she started talking. Of course, she had to omit the part where Qiao En was involved; she didn’t have a crush on him.

After hearing the story, the kids praised the brother-in-law for being deep and loving. Noticing that Wen Yi had been single from beginning to end, Tian Jia leaned forward toward the main table and quietly asked, “I hadn’t heard you mention you were dating before. You’re not really trying to make Wei Yuan jealous, are you?”

Many old employees knew she had dated Wei Yuan. Wen Yi heard that on the day they sent the invitations, Wei Yuan had scolded quite a few people during a meeting, so he naturally didn’t attend the wedding. Instead, he had given her a generous red envelope.

Wen Yi couldn’t help but laugh, “Who has a child just to spite their ex-boyfriend?”

“What’s going on with you two then? Everyone in the company is saying you’re on Wei Yuan’s side now.”

“Wei Yuan is capable; of course, I support him.”

Tian Jia shook her head, not understanding. “I’ve always thought Wei Yuan was no simple person. Be careful.”

“I know.”

Halfway through the annual meeting, the leaders went around toasting as a gesture of consolation. Wen Yi claimed to be unwell and drank tea instead. With so many people around, no one questioned her. Only Wei Yuan shot her a strange glance before leaving, seemingly still resentful.

After the evening party ended, Qin Nanshan came to pick her up and conveniently went back to Changle Alley with her, first moving some luggage to University East Road.

The car stopped by the roadside near the hotel, and the tall figure of the man in the driver’s seat was partially hidden. Tian Jia, along with Song Qingqing and a few others, clamored to see the brother-in-law, but Wen Yi wouldn’t let them and said her goodbyes.

As soon as she got in the car, Qin Nanshan frowned, “Have you been drinking?”

“No, it was the people around me who drank.” Wen Yi fastened her seatbelt and huffed, “I have common sense.”

On the way, Wen Yi felt a bit drowsy, leaning against the window and dozing off. By now, she had mostly lost her pregnancy symptoms, just feeling extremely sleepy.

When she opened her eyes at home, she instinctively checked the time: it was 11:23 PM. If she remembered correctly, they should have left at 10:30, and it only took twenty minutes to get home, meaning she had slept for about half an hour in the car.

The heater was running inside the car, but she had cracked the window open a bit, so the air was fresh. Wen Yi turned her neck and said hoarsely, “Why didn’t you wake me up?”

“You were sleeping soundly.”

“It’s uncomfortable to sleep like this; remember to wake me up next time.”

“Okay.” He casually handed her a box, a red ring box. “The jewelry store was closed a few days before the New Year, so I had to get this shipped from another city. It took some time.”
