They arrived too early, and when they entered the classroom, there were hardly any students inside.
Jing Tian chose a seat in the front row, slightly towards the side.
This way, it wasn’t easy to attract the teacher’s attention, and he could see the blackboard clearly.
Zheng Xunqian naturally sat down beside him.
“This classroom seems a bit small, what if we can’t find seats later?” Jing Tian said.
“We’ll worry about that later,” Zheng Xunqian nodded towards the textbooks on his desk, “Have you reviewed in advance?”
Jing Tian immediately smiled, as if boasting, “Yes! I did! I prepared in advance last night!”
There was a limit to the number of retakes, and if he failed this course again, it would be over for him. He needed to take it more seriously.
Thanks to Zheng Xunqian, he had gone through several chapters last night, comparing notes and doing targeted exercises. Although he didn’t fully grasp everything, he had at least gained a basic understanding. Compared to the class in the morning, he felt more confident.
Zheng Xunqian nodded approvingly, “That’s good.”
Faced with such straightforward praise, Jing Tian felt embarrassed, “Well… the time was short, so I just skimmed through it, and I’ll do more exercises later to really grasp the concepts.”
“No rush,” Zheng Xunqian said, “Take it slow.”
This unexpected gentleness made Jing Tian feel both delighted and uneasy, making him fidget.
After sitting on the chair for a while, he cleared his throat and stood up, “I’m going to the restroom.”
The yellowfish noodle soup just now was delicious, perfectly suited to his taste, so he drank most of it. Then, there was also the large cup of milk tea. Drinking made him feel extremely satisfied, but now his stomach was bloated.
This was the first time he had come to this teaching building since losing his memory, and it felt unfamiliar. After wandering around for a while, he only found a solitary women’s restroom.
As he was wandering around, feeling troubled, he heard a strange male voice behind him.
“Excuse me, are you looking for the men’s restroom?”
Jing Tian quickly turned around and saw a tall, fair-skinned guy smiling at him.
“The men’s restroom is located in the same place on the lower and upper floors,” the guy said, pointing, “There’s only one restroom on each floor of this building, and they are staggered.”
“Thank you,” Jing Tian nodded in acknowledgment and then headed towards the stairs.
“Wait for me, I also need to use the restroom,” the guy quickly caught up, initiating a conversation warmly, “Are you a freshman too?”
Jing Tian hesitated.
He wasn’t good at socializing to begin with, and explaining his situation to a stranger he just met seemed too troublesome.
After weighing his options, he decided to play dumb.
The guy didn’t mind Jing Tian’s silence and continued to talk, “I’m majoring in mechanical automation, what about you? I don’t think I’ve seen you before.”
It was a coincidence; I am too.
Jing Tian suddenly had a bad feeling.
Five minutes later, they both finished using the restroom and returned to the same classroom together.
“Wow, I’ve never seen you in the previous classes!” the guy exclaimed.
Jing Tian felt extremely ashamed and gave him a silly smile.
This was bad; what was he doing back then? Being so careless about retaking the course, it seemed like he didn’t really intend to graduate.
The classroom was still empty.
Seeing him take a seat, the guy picked up his backpack from another corner and sat down beside him.
“Are you not a freshman? Are you a sophomore?” he asked.
Originally focused on playing with his phone, Zheng Xunqian looked up, glanced at the guy, then glanced at Jing Tian’s profile.
Although he didn’t speak, Jing Tian could understand his implicit meaning.
Who is this kid?
“I’m a freshman this year, my name is Shu Ziqin,” the guy introduced himself very actively, “I don’t know anyone in our year, and I’ve been alone every time in class.”
Jing Tian had done some homework before.
Their freshman year was all about basic subjects like math, physics, and chemistry, and they would only start on specialized courses in their sophomore year. However, for more ambitious students, they could choose to take future major courses in advance.
This junior seemed to be moving pretty fast.
“…Do you find this course difficult?” Jing Tian asked.
“Not at all, it’s very interesting,” Shu Ziqin said, “I quite like it.”
Jing Tian turned his head away, “I see.”
“We’re not sophomores,” Zheng Xunqian suddenly spoke up, “We’re here for a retake.”
Shu Ziqin was taken aback.
Jing Tian felt utterly embarrassed, turning his head and pretending to be absorbed in his phone.
“Because we failed the exam twice,” Zheng Xunqian continued.
Shu Ziqin blinked a few times.
After Zheng Xunqian finished speaking, he lowered his head again, sighed lightly, and looked at his phone.
“It’s… alright,” Shu Ziqin awkwardly gestured, “You’ll definitely pass this time! Otherwise… if there’s anything you need, I can help! Just ask me! Although I might not be able to…”
“Yeah, it’s alright,” Zheng Xunqian said, “At worst, we’ll just repeat the year.”
Shu Ziqin blinked again, unsure of how to respond, feeling at a loss.
This kid was tall and big, but his character was straightforward and kindhearted.
Jing Tian couldn’t help but feel a liking for him, unable to bear seeing him being teased by Zheng Xunqian.
“Thank you, but it’s okay,” he explained seriously, “I’m the only one failing the course. He’s just here to accompany me to class. If there’s anything I don’t understand… he’ll teach me. I missed class before because… because of health reasons, so I should be able to pass this semester.”
Shu Ziqin breathed a sigh of relief, concerned, “How about now, is your health better?”
“…It’s pretty good,” Jing Tian said.
Shu Ziqin relaxed and flashed the same gentle and sunny smile, “Senior, I still don’t know your names.”
Shu Ziqin was outgoing and talkative.
For the entire class, he was whispering to Jing Tian half the time.
Most of the time, Jing Tian didn’t speak up, and he didn’t mind.
The teacher was speaking vigorously on the stage, “So, internal force is the interaction force within the system. Corresponding to internal force, what is the force from outside the system, influenced by the environment called?”
As Shu Ziqin took notes, he mumbled, “Is it light skill?”
Jing Tian had a low sense of humor and chuckled.
The teacher heard the noise, glanced in their direction, then narrowed his eyes.
“That student,” he shouted loudly, “the one in the third row, third column, wearing black, stop sleeping and wake up.”
Jing Tian quickly nudged Zheng Xunqian lightly with his elbow.
This person, after officially starting class, spent the first ten minutes playing with his phone while seated, and not long after, he switched to lying down while playing with his phone. By the time half of the class had passed, he was asleep.
No one knew what he was here for.
Fortunately, he wasn’t in deep sleep and quickly sat up under external force.
“Sleeping so soundly, it seems like you’re very confident and have thoroughly understood the knowledge,” the middle-aged teacher pointed at Zheng Xunqian, who still looked drowsy, “Come up and solve this problem.”
Zheng Xunqian didn’t immediately get up.
He had been sleeping on his stomach, and upon waking up, his vision was blurry, so he had to squint to see the words on the blackboard clearly.
This was a departure from his usual demeanor, making him appear a bit dull.
“Come up first,” the teacher misunderstood and became more impatient, “You’ll be able to see clearly once you’re up here. It’s very simple. Anyone who listened casually during class earlier can easily do it.”
The teacher was clearly bluffing. Just now, he had said this problem was full of traps and quite difficult, so it seemed he wanted to scare the drowsy students in the classroom as a warning.
Unfortunately, he had picked the wrong target.
Zheng Xunqian yawned and got up, rubbing his eyes as he did so.
Under the gaze of the whole class, he leisurely walked to the blackboard and stared blankly at the question for a while before picking up the chalk.
The teacher, being a teacher, immediately realized something as soon as Zheng Xunqian finished writing the first line.
“Not bad,” he changed his tone and attitude from earlier, as if he was just asking an excellent student to come up for a positive demonstration, “You see, this is the substitution method I mentioned earlier!”
Zheng Xunqian glanced at him and continued to write silently.
When he finished writing, it covered half of the blackboard.
After completing the answer, he put down the chalk, turned to the teacher, and remained silent.
“Very good,” the teacher acted as if nothing had happened and made a gesture, “Please sit down!”
Zheng Xunqian lowered his head and walked down. The teacher spoke again, “That student, you’ve been smiling non-stop since earlier. What’s making you so happy? The one in the third row, fourth column, that’s you!”
Jing Tian, who had been cheerful until then, suddenly froze.
Shu Ziqin glanced at him, saw his confusion, licked his lips, and nervously said, “B-because learning makes us happy!”
As soon as he finished speaking, laughter filled the classroom.
The teacher didn’t hold back and laughed along, then stopped pursuing the matter further.
“This junior is quite amusing,” Jing Tian remarked on their way back to the dormitory.
“Is he your type?” Zheng Xunqian asked.
Jing Tian was stunned, “Huh? Huh?”
Zheng Xunqian turned to look at him, “Is he?”
“I… I never even thought about it,” Jing Tian’s face turned red, “I was just speaking normally, just casually… I didn’t mean anything else!”
“Oh.”
Zheng Xunqian responded with just that one word.
Jing Tian furrowed his brows but didn’t say anything else.
This person was really annoying, too infuriating, whether he spoke or not, he was infuriating. No wonder he used to curse him all the time.
Zheng Xunqian, a walking annoyance.
They walked, one in front and one behind, each lost in their own thoughts, until they saw the dormitory building from afar, still in peace and quiet.
“Let’s go to my room first?” Zheng Xunqian turned around once again.
“Oh.”
Jing Tian dryly responded, mimicking his manner.
Zheng Xunqian didn’t mind.
After walking a few steps forward, he said, “Are you sure you don’t have that kind of thought now?”
“I don’t have the thought or the time,” Jing Tian said, “I don’t even have time to read.”
“Then why did you inquire about someone’s birthday?”
Zheng Xunqian asked.
Whose?
Jing Tian was blank for several seconds before finally snapping out of it.
Damn it, he thought this issue had already been resolved. He didn’t expect Zheng Xunqian to still hold a grudge!
Even more frightening was that, at this moment, a familiar figure appeared in the direction of the dormitory area.
This was the second time he had bumped into Chu Chen Tao while with Zheng Xunqian.
