After posting on Moments, Jing Tian tried to squint his eyes for a while, but soon couldn’t sit still.
Everyone was gathered around the table playing blackjack, with laughter and chatter filling the air, which looked very interesting.
Feeling itchy in his heart, he volunteered to join.
His friends were initially worried that he wouldn’t be able to adapt to the change, but seeing his enthusiasm, they naturally welcomed him.
The rules of blackjack were not complicated, but Jing Tian was confused. He listened half-heartedly and bravely joined the game.
In the first round, he got two cards, a six and an eight.
Holding the cards, he looked serious for a moment, then leaned over and quietly asked Yang Yue, “Should I take another card?”
Yang Yue glanced at the other players’ cards and analyzed, “If you don’t take it, it’s probably difficult to win, but if you do, there’s still a chance to compete.”
Jing Tian immediately waved his hand, “Take it!”
He got another card, a three, totaling seventeen.
“It’s a bit awkward,” Yang Yue continued to analyze with him, “Now you’ve busted two cards, and the remaining ones are twelve and sixteen. If you take another one now, the probability of…”
Before Yang Yue could finish, Jing Tian waved his hand again, “Take it!”
With the new card, he saw a nine, but he busted.
“Wait for me to finish!” Yang Yue shouted.
“It’s okay,” Jing Tian picked up the bottle of alcohol, “I’ll drink!”
Yang Yue sighed.
After a few rounds, Jing Tian didn’t win a single one. He drank a bottle and a half of alcohol, feeling so hot that he took off his jacket and became dizzy, almost unable to sit still.
The more confused he became, the more reckless and irrational he became, asking for cards randomly and busting every time.
Yang Yue was at a loss and had to volunteer to drink for him.
The crowd cheered, and surprisingly, Jing Tian also joined in, applauding and cheering.
Yang Yue soon couldn’t handle it anymore and ordered him to stop, threatening to drag him out onto the street if he continued.
Jing Tian, who was fooling around, was actually quite timid at heart and was immediately scared.
Yang Yue suggested going back, and he obediently agreed, not daring to cause any trouble.
After bidding farewell to their friends from the group, Jing Tian was once again dragged back onto the street by Yang Yue. As soon as the cold wind blew, he quickly regained some sobriety.
“Can you walk by yourself?” Yang Yue asked.
Jing Tian nodded, but after taking a few steps, he suddenly felt dizzy and stopped.
“…I don’t think I can.”
He said.
“If only your alcohol tolerance matched your courage,” Yang Yue sighed, “Every time it’s like this. I’m always worried when I come with you.”
“Then why do you still invite me?”
“I thought you couldn’t drink at all now,” Yang Yue said helplessly, “I didn’t expect you to fit in so quickly.”
Jing Tian hadn’t expected himself to be so uninhibited either and chuckled twice.
“Let’s take a taxi. At your current pace, we probably won’t make it back before curfew,” Yang Yue suggested.
Jing Tian casually took out his phone from his pocket and was dumbfounded when he saw it.
In the half hour he had been playing cards just now, he had four missed calls on his phone.
Three were from Chu Chen Tao and one was from Zheng Xunqian.
“Someone’s looking for you?” Yang Yue asked.
Jing Tian licked his lips and clicked on Zheng Xunqian’s name, then pressed the callback button.
After two rings, the call was answered.
“Hello?” Zheng Xunqian’s voice sounded calm, no different from usual.
“You called me,” Jing Tian asked, “What’s up?”
“…Nothing,” Zheng Xunqian said, “Where are you now?”
Jing Tian narrowed his eyes, “Why did you call me if there’s nothing?”
There was an obvious pause from Zheng Xunqian, then he asked again, “Are you alone? Is there anyone with you?”
“Forget it,” Jing Tian said, “I have nothing to do with you, bye!”
After he finished shouting, he tapped Zheng Xunqian’s name three times on the screen before finally hanging up.
During the call, it seemed that Zheng Xunqian said something again, but it was too far away to hear clearly.
“Who was it?” Yang Yue asked.
Jing Tian looked at him with a bitter face, “Zheng Xunqian, this guy is so annoying!”
“…Huh?” Yang Yue was confused for a moment, then laughed, “He called you?”
“I really can’t stand him, so annoying,” Jing Tian said, taking two steps forward, “How can someone be so…so…”
Yang Yue quickly caught up and reached out to support him, “So what?”
Jing Tian grumbled, “I’m really annoyed, I get upset with him at least three times a day!”
“What did he do?”
“Everything he does is annoying!” Jing Tian shouted.
“…Then why do you hang out with him all the time?”
Jing Tian frowned, not saying anything.
After a few steps, he shouted again, “What is this guy thinking? Why can’t he just be clear about it?”
“I don’t know exactly what he’s thinking, but I bet he likes you.”
Yang Yue said.
Jing Tian was about to speak when his phone rang again.
Frowning, he pressed the answer button and raised it to his ear, shouting loudly, “Do you like me or what!”
It was silent on the other end.
“I’m at… at that, at RESET in New World, that bar,” Jing Tian continued to shout, “If you like me, come over.”
After a moment, there was a response from the other end, “Okay, wait for me.”
Jing Tian was stunned.
The voice was completely different from what he had expected.
He quickly moved his phone away and glanced at the caller ID, feeling confused.
What’s going on? It wasn’t Zheng Xunqian, it was Chu Chen Tao.
After a brief moment of panic, he made an extremely foolish move.
He tapped the screen three times again and ended the call.
“Quick, call a cab,” his irrational brain sent a signal to flee, “Let’s get back quickly!”
Yang Yue looked speechless, “You’re kidding, this isn’t right, is it?”
“It’s not… I… I…”
Jing Tian was at a loss for words.
After a moment, he picked up his phone again, opened the call log, and tapped Zheng Xunqian’s name again.
After calling, Zheng Xunqian’s voice soon sounded.
“Hello?”
“It’s all your fault!” Jing Tian shouted at him, “Why didn’t you call me?”
Zheng Xunqian didn’t say anything, probably a bit confused.
“Why didn’t you call me?” Jing Tian reiterated confidently, “Why didn’t you give me a call?”
After a two-second silence, Zheng Xunqian replied, “I was thinking of coming to find you.”
Jing Tian didn’t understand: “Huh?”
“Let me come pick you up. Where are you now?” Zheng Xunqian asked.
“I…” Jing Tian’s remaining sanity woke up.
His sense of crisis told him that he couldn’t say.
If Zheng Xunqian and Chu Chen Tao bumped into each other, he would definitely be in trouble.
“It’s okay, I’m fine. Goodnight.”
After saying that, he tapped Zheng Xunqian’s name three times on the screen.
“…What are you doing?” Yang Yue was confused by his actions, “Who did you just ask to pick you up?”
“What should I do,” Jing Tian grabbed Yang Yue, “I thought I was calling Zheng Xunqian, but it turns out it was my senior!”
“The one surnamed Chu?” Yang Yue’s expression changed, “Let’s quickly take a taxi back!”
“…Stand him up?”
“If we have to, then we will,” Yang Yue said, pulling him towards the roadside, “There’s no need to be polite to him.”
This area wasn’t downtown, and after ten o’clock, there weren’t many cars on the road.
Seeing this, Yang Yue decisively took out his phone to call for a cab.
Luck was on their side, and the call was answered in less than a minute.
“We’re two minutes away from you,” Yang Yue said, “I hope that guy doesn’t get here too soon.”
Jing Tian felt uneasy and very anxious, “Is this a good idea…”
“It’s okay,” Yang Yue had already come up with a reason for him, “Just turn off your phone and when he asks you later, just say you were too drunk to remember anything.”
“But…”
“Don’t show mercy to scumbags.”
Yang Yue said.
Jing Tian tilted his head in confusion, thinking, why is the senior a scumbag? Did he do something outrageous?
“Looks like we’re here. Let me check the license plate… Yes, that’s it,” Yang Yue pulled him towards a nearby white taxi, “Get in quickly.”
Before they reached the car, the door was opened from the inside.
A familiar figure unexpectedly emerged from inside, Chu Chen Tao, whom they were currently trying to avoid.
“Fuck!” Yang Yue cursed.
They weren’t far from the car, and their voices were quite loud.
Chu Chen Tao turned his head and looked over, immediately smiling when his eyes met Jing Tian’s.
Seeing him approaching quickly, Jing Tian heard a ringing in his ear.
It wasn’t his own phone, it was Yang Yue’s.
Yang Yue frowned and glanced down at his phone, then sighed, “Why is Zheng Xunqian calling me!”
Jing Tian dared not to breathe.
