The moment Jing Tian saw that name, he felt a sense of guilt as if he had been caught goofing off in class by the teacher.
Although he said he would study hard, he hadn’t made any progress. As soon as it was the weekend, he immediately ran out to eat, drink, and have fun, which was really unreasonable.
With a nervous heart, he reluctantly opened the chat box, and soon he was stunned.
“Give me your email.”
Perplexed, Jing Tian didn’t dare to ask questions and obediently sent his email address.
After sending it, he remembered that this email address had been used by him for three years. Since he lost his memory, he hadn’t logged in or knew if it was still in use or if it had been changed.
After a moment, Zheng Xunqian sent a new message.
“I’ve sent you some materials. Take a look when you have time.”
Jing Tian stared at the message for a few seconds, then glanced up at the flashing and lively lights in the private room, feeling even more guilty.
He replied with a red face.
“Thank you! You’ve worked hard!”
Half a minute later, Zheng Xunqian replied again.
“Are you able to take a call?”
The room was noisy, and the corridor was slightly better, but it was still not quiet.
Feeling guilty, Jing Tian slipped into a restroom stall before making the call to Zheng Xunqian.
On the phone, Zheng Xunqian told him that he had sent a compressed file containing various materials, some of which were important while others were just for reference. He offered to provide a simple explanation to facilitate Jing Tian’s review.
“First, download the file and then decompress it. I’ll explain it to you slowly,” Zheng Xunqian said.
Jing Tian, feeling nervous, replied from the cramped space of the restroom stall, “I don’t have a computer with me right now, so it’s not very convenient…”
“You’re studying, aren’t you? Didn’t you bring your computer?” Zheng Xunqian asked.
From his tone, it seemed as though Zheng Xunqian assumed that even if Jing Tian wasn’t in the dormitory, he should be buried in the library or some other study area.
It seemed that Zheng Xunqian didn’t check Moments.
Jing Tian shrank his neck and licked his lips nervously. “I’m not at school right now.”
Zheng Xunqian remained calm. “Oh, then let’s talk when you get back.”
After he finished speaking, he promptly ended the call.
Standing in the narrow and cramped space of the restroom, Jing Tian looked at the phone screen, the call log lasting less than half a minute, feeling complex emotions.
Just as he was about to leave, a WeChat notification popped up, indicating that there was a new message in Moments.
Jing Tian absentmindedly clicked on it and was startled.
The system informed him that Zheng Xunqian had just liked the photo he had sent.
Oh no, why did he see it?
If he’s going to look, why leave a trace? If only I had blocked him!
Jing Tian felt as if he were a student caught by a teacher playing truant in an internet cafe.
Reason told him it wasn’t necessary, but after hesitating for half a minute, he gathered his courage and opened the chat box with Zheng Xunqian.
“I’ll be back soon!”
It wasn’t until he returned to the private room with an uneasy heart that Zheng Xunqian replied.
“Oh.”
After the eating, drinking, and playing team finished singing, they planned to have dinner together later in the evening. Jing Tian didn’t participate and went back to the dormitory early.
Yang Yue was worried and wanted to accompany him, but Jing Tian persuaded him otherwise.
He went back to make the most of his time to study and review, while Yang Yue had nothing to do.
Since he knew the way, he didn’t want Yang Yue to give up his entertainment for him.
Back in the dormitory, he immediately wanted to turn on the computer to check his emails, but soon he realized a big problem.
He still couldn’t remember his computer’s startup password.
There were many inconveniences caused by the memory loss, such as wanting to take the computer to the after-sales service center to crack it but not being able to find the purchase receipt.
After a moment of thought, he sent a message to Zheng Xunqian, informing him that he couldn’t confirm the contents of the documents temporarily because he didn’t have a computer.
The phone rang soon after.
“Don’t know the startup password?” Zheng Xunqian asked on the other end of the line.
“Yeah,” Jing Tian felt embarrassed, “I’ve tried all the common passwords I remember, but I can’t open it.”
After a few seconds of contemplation, Zheng Xunqian said, “My birthday is November 9th.”
Jing Tian was puzzled. “So what?”
“…Try it.”
Zheng Xunqian said.
What a confident statement? Jing Tian was surprised for a few seconds, then, with a tentative attitude, he entered Zheng Xunqian’s complete birthday.
After pressing enter, sure enough, an error message popped up.
“Nope,” Jing Tian whispered.
As he spoke, he tried combining Zheng Xunqian’s name abbreviation and birthday, but it still didn’t work.
Seems like it has nothing to do with you, Jing Tian thought to himself.
Zheng Xunqian didn’t feel embarrassed at all and asked again, “Are you in the dormitory now?”
“Yes.”
“I have a spare tablet, borrow it,” Zheng Xunqian said, “I’m coming over now.”
Before Zheng Xunqian arrived, Jing Tian did something he felt a bit sneaky about.
He sent a message to Chu Chen Tao, asking for his birthday.
Chu Chen Tao quickly replied, and Jing Tian tried several combinations based on it, all ending in failure.
The computer didn’t open smoothly, but Jing Tian felt a slight relief.
According to what Chu Chen Tao said that day, they used to be a couple.
He didn’t think his respected senior would lie, but he also couldn’t muster any feelings of admiration or romance for Chu Chen Tao.
Chu Chen Tao’s current attitude towards him undoubtedly indicated a desire to restore their previous relationship.
This made Jing Tian feel uneasy.
Realizing that he didn’t use a password related to Chu Chen Tao, this intimate relationship that he couldn’t digest seemed somewhat fragile.
“Why suddenly ask for my birthday?”
Chu Chen Tao asked.
The reason of trying passwords was too ambiguous to say out loud. Jing Tian couldn’t find a more reasonable excuse.
As he hesitated, there was a knock on the door of the dormitory, and Zheng Xunqian arrived.
Zheng Xunqian not only brought the tablet but also a mouse and keyboard to go with it, very considerate.
As the saying goes, no work, no gains.
But facing Zheng Xunqian, Jing Tian didn’t even have the courage to refuse politely.
“…I, I’ll treat you to dinner,” he held the tablet, his expression, tone, and body language stiff, “I’m really grateful to you!”
Zheng Xunqian nodded straightforwardly. “Okay.”
After saying that, he pointed to the empty desk nearby. “Turn it on and try it out. I’ll explain the contents of that compressed file to you.”
Jing Tian was very obedient and quickly sat down to operate it.
The tablet looked new on the outside, smooth to operate, and seemed to have good performance, not like something idle.
Although Jing Tian had doubts, he didn’t dare to ask.
“I’m not sure if this email is still in use… maybe it won’t open…” he whispered to Zheng Xunqian.
Zheng Xunqian bluntly expressed dissatisfaction. “You should have told me earlier, and I would have copied the documents and brought them over.”
Feeling guilty, Jing Tian touched his nose and nervously opened the browser, trying to log in to his email.
After entering the password and pressing enter, the screen automatically redirected, and he quickly entered the interface of his personal email.
The system prompt showed only one new email, indicating that this email was still in use.
He breathed a sigh of relief and clicked into the inbox.
Sure enough, the latest one was sent by Zheng Xunqian, with the simple title “Review Materials”.
As he clicked to open it, he subconsciously glanced down, then sucked in a breath of cold air.
Below was a whole row, all with the same title.
“Reply: I’m going to kill that big fool Zheng Xunqian!”
At least a dozen messages were displayed, which was extremely shocking.
He was undoubtedly having a conversation with someone using email, so each reply only showed the initial email title.
The screen quickly jumped again, entering the email body he had just clicked on.
There was no text content, only an attachment.
With the row of email titles that flashed through his mind just now, Jing Tian tightly held the mouse, not daring to move.
Zheng Xunqian reached out from behind him and tapped the screen.
Jing Tian swallowed hard, tremblingly moved the mouse. “Oh, okay!”
Great! Zheng Xunqian didn’t see it! He thought he was stuck because he couldn’t find the download button!
Jing Tian’s heart pounded as he lowered his head and adjusted his breathing secretly.
“What’s wrong,” Zheng Xunqian, who had been standing behind him, pulled over a nearby chair and sat down beside him, “Feeling unwell?”
“No! I’m fine!” Jing Tian said very loudly because of his guilt.
“Oh,” Zheng Xunqian nodded, leaned slightly against the nearby desk, propping his chin with one hand, and calmly looked at him, “I seemed to have seen something I shouldn’t have just now.”
