Jing Tian quickly lowered his head.
Unexpectedly, there was a very obvious smile on the corner of his lips.
“You’re so annoying,” he muttered softly.
Zheng Xunqian thought to himself, this clearly meant something. Whether it was touching Jing Tian’s lips or seeing his smile, both brought him a strong sense of satisfaction.
“It’s been four days since I’ve felt your lips,” he said, “Too long, excessively long.”
Jing Tian lifted his head again and looked into his eyes. After a few seconds of ambiguous eye contact at a slightly intimate distance, Jing Tian unconsciously pursed his lips.
Zheng Xunqian noticed this subtle movement and, both tempted and encouraged by it, leaned forward again.
This time, Jing Tian closed his eyes.
They were standing on a small road near the school at the moment, not bustling but not deserted either, occasionally someone would pass by. But for Zheng Xunqian, this was irrelevant.
As he tried to reach out, Jing Tian’s arm naturally wrapped around his neck.
They briefly met each other’s eyes during the kiss, then closed them again. Having tasted the sweetest thing in the world, it’s hard to abstain, unsatisfied and you’ll thirst for more.
He needed to kiss Jing Tian’s lips, just like his body needed air and water.
“Not angry anymore?” he asked softly.
The obedient and gentle Jing Tian from just now suddenly stiffened a bit.
“…Still angry,” Zheng Xunqian answered himself helplessly.
Jing Tian bit his lip, emitting a slightly awkward sound from his throat.
“Angry at me, yet letting me kiss you,” Zheng Xunqian whispered, “Is it because you like…”
His words abruptly stopped.
Because Jing Tian, who still had a slight frown, abruptly moved his hand from Zheng Xunqian’s shoulder to the side of his face, pinching his cheeks lightly but firmly.
Experiencing being treated like this for the first time in his life, Zheng Xunqian was stunned.
“Yes,” Jing Tian said to him almost resentfully, “Because I like you!”
As he spoke, he pinched harder, and Zheng Xunqian’s cheeks started to hurt a bit.
But this was still a moment of joy for him.
He cautiously moved away Jing Tian’s hands, which were clearly filled with a sense of revenge, pulled them in front of him, lowered his head, and kissed his fingertips.
Seeing the almost tearful expression on Jing Tian’s face, he felt surprised, then reached out and cupped his cheeks.
“What’s wrong?”
Jing Tian sniffed, “I’m still not over it!”
Zheng Xunqian asked him seriously, “What should I do then?”
Jing Tian, with an expression of helplessness, lowered his head and asked him back, “What can you do?”
Zheng Xunqian thought quietly.
Within the scope of his abilities, he could do many things for Jing Tian, and he had never been stingy about it. But apparently, Jing Tian didn’t think it was enough.
What else could he do? That was a difficult question.
Jing Tian quickly lost patience, pushed him away, and created some distance between them, saying, “Think for yourself, you probably will never know why I’m upset.”
Zheng Xunqian was somewhat surprised to realize that there was actually such a specific thing. He thought Jing Tian was just having difficulty adjusting emotionally and became resentful due to dissatisfaction with that night, causing a backlash in their relationship, leading to a quarrel.
Seeing him expressionless and silent, Jing Tian sighed lightly and said, “After you woke up that day, your attitude towards me was very bad, and the things you said were particularly harsh.”
Zheng Xunqian blinked.
He thought, What did I say?
That night was so confusing, he was angry at himself for acting so illogically, he was unwilling to face the absurdity of the previous night.
When he received Jing Tian’s call, his instinctive reaction was: Why should I go?
It was good news that the troublesome person announced that they would no longer harass him, there was no need for any redemption.
Then, he quietly changed his clothes and walked out of the dormitory, just as he had been doing all this time.
Obviously, he was a troublesome person, it would be better if he disappeared, but he kept trying to make amends, and he could only feel at ease when he saw Jing Tian reappear by his side.
Soon after, Zheng Xunqian finally understood that the emotions at that time were nothing but a transition from an observer of a world to a participant.
No one had ever been able to easily stir his emotions like this before, making him care so uncontrollably, forcing him to lose control. This feeling was too unfamiliar, making him subconsciously want to escape.
But he couldn’t.
That night was too absurd, he even wanted to embrace the trouble that should be avoided, and accepted a bizarre proposal.
His rationality kept telling him “no,” but his actions went against it. This made him even more restless.
Jing Tian was a little crazy, and he was infected by him.
He had never experienced such a loss of control before, and for the first time in his life, he felt completely at a loss.
What did he say to Jing Tian when he woke up? Zheng Xunqian couldn’t remember for a moment. At that time, he was so incredulous about the reality in front of him that he felt a strong urge to escape the absurdity of the previous night.
Jing Tian seemed to have said something not very pleasant to him at that time, and he instinctively responded as he usually did.
Jing Tian stared at his face for a long time, becoming even more angry.
“Forgot it, haven’t you!” he angrily shouted, “You said such absurd things and then forget about them! Are you even human!”
Zheng Xunqian thought to himself, but you only just remembered recently.
He silently reminded himself that he absolutely couldn’t say that out loud.
“Not remembering means it wasn’t sincere,” he said.
This unexpected sentence seemed to work. After hearing it, Jing Tian’s face still showed a trace of grievance, but his expression became much calmer.
“…What did I say?” Zheng Xunqian asked.
Jing Tian clicked his tongue, “It’s just… hurtful words.”
“That must not have been sincere,” Zheng Xunqian said, “don’t be mad.”
Jing Tian seemed much better, but he still refused to let it go, “You’re so indifferent about it.”
“Look at it from another perspective,” Zheng Xunqian said, “You’ve led me on and then abandoned me before, haven’t you?”
Jing Tian was taken aback.
Zheng Xunqian sighed, “Twice, in fact.”
“…”
Looking at his face, Zheng Xunqian said word by word, “You’ve canceled out on me once and left the other.”
Jing Tian was speechless for a while and then took a deep breath, “I’ll be fed up with you sooner or later!”
On the way back to the dormitory, Zheng Xunqian finally remembered what nonsense he had said originally.
He messaged Jing Tian.
–Sorry.
Jing Tian quickly replied.
–Why the sudden apology?
–Because I need to take responsibility for you.
Jing Tian didn’t respond further.
Without pressing him, Zheng Xunqian continued towards the deeper part of the dormitory area. The dormitories at A University were arranged by academic year, and the senior students were located furthest inside.
You could check the detailed accommodation list downstairs, and he quickly found the person he was looking for.
Standing outside Chu Chen Tao’s dormitory door, just as he was about to knock, he heard the voice that annoyed him.
“Don’t be fooled by his appearance, he’s actually very gentle, even helped me clean the floor, very obedient. With his intelligence, you can just coax him as you like.”
Zheng Xunqian raised an eyebrow slightly. Jing Tian’s attitude towards Chu Chen Tao on the phone was perfunctory and dissmissive, and he couldn’t completely ignore it. Now, this speech was undoubtedly an attempt to save face in front of friends.
What a jerk.
Zheng Xunqian lightly knocked on the door twice, and soon, it was opened from inside.
There stood a stranger, “Who are you looking for?”
Zheng Xunqian looked past him into the dormitory and pointed, “Him.”
Chu Chen Tao quickly noticed him, looking surprised, stood up from his chair but didn’t immediately respond.
Zheng Xunqian nodded at him expressionlessly and said, “I’m sorry to bother you today, I’ve come to apologize to you.”
This statement was unexpected, and Chu Chen Tao, shocked, couldn’t maintain a hostile posture. After a moment of hesitation, he awkwardly said, “Um… it’s okay, I also didn’t react well…”
“Jing Tian was mad at me, which shouldn’t have affected you, and ended up causing you so much trouble,” Zheng Xunqian said calmly, without any sincerity in his tone, “Don’t worry, it won’t happen again.”
Chu Chen Tao finally realized that the situation wasn’t good. He pushed aside his roommate and walked up to him, grinning, “Are you mistaken? Clearly, he…”
Before he could finish, Zheng Xunqian’s phone vibrated.
Jing Tian had finally replied.
–Based on your performance, I’ll consider it~
Suppressing a smile, Zheng Xunqian pressed the call button and it was immediately answered.
“What’s up?” The voice on the other end sounded oddly fierce, yet there was a hint of amusement evident.
“I have something to ask you,” Zheng Xunqian said.
He abruptly made the call, leaving Chu Chen Tao and his roommates puzzled, frowning at him.
Zheng Xunqian made a gesture for them to stay calm and asked into the phone, “You just mentioned to me, you and that Chu… Chu something…”
Before he could finish his sentence, he was interrupted by Jing Tian’s impatient tone, “Why do you keep bringing him up again!”
Zheng Xunqian silently turned on the speakerphone.
Jing Tian’s voice on the other end suddenly became louder, clearly audible throughout the dorm room.
“I’ll tell you the truth,” Jing Tian sighed, “I just don’t like him. I deliberately met up with him to play him, make him think he had a chance, and then ditch him to make him feel bad.”
Chu Chen Tao’s eyes widened.
Zheng Xunqian glanced at Chu Chen Tao and said, “That doesn’t sound too good, does it?”
“Yeah, I know…” Jing Tian said, “I regret it now. It was uncomfortable being with him today, it felt like I was retaliating against myself. I’ll talk to him later and make it clear, and then I’ll never bother with him again.”
Zheng Xunqian glanced at Chu Chen Tao in front of him, “You don’t need to talk to him.”
“Huh?” Jing Tian hadn’t recovered.
“He’s right next to me.”
Zheng Xunqian said, subconsciously glancing behind Chu Chen Tao. His roommates had heard everything, and their expressions were all priceless.
Originally, Zheng Xunqian only wanted Jing Tian to say something like “I don’t like him” or “I’m not interested in him.” He never expected that this seemingly obedient little guy had such a laughable master plan up his sleeve, which was truly surprising.
“…You should thank me,” Zheng Xunqian said, “I completed the task for you.”
After a while, Jing Tian finally exclaimed, “Damn it!”
