That one sentence infuriated Luo Shi completely: “How Dare you.”
“What do I not dare to do? I’ve already talked to father about this matter. With a mother like you, who only brings trouble to me, I don’t dare to take up this official position,” Xie Yongzhen frowned and said.
Upon hearing this, Luo Shi suddenly screamed, “Xie Yongzhen, tell me, are you interested in that wretched woman Wang Jinhe?”
Xie Yongzhen took a deep breath, looking at Luo Shi with disappointment in his eyes, “Mother, you really disappoint me. Your thoughts are disgusting to me.”
“Do as you wish.” He had already said everything he needed to say. Now, if Luo Shi still didn’t take it seriously, then she couldn’t blame him for being rude.
He turned and left; this was the last time he would discuss this with Luo Shi.
Luo Shi was trembling with anger. Her son had never spoken to her like this or done anything of the sort before. It was all because of Wang Jinhe; her son had spoken to her in such a way. It was unforgivable.
Ignoring her pursuit of benefits from Xie Kui, Luo Shi ran to Wang Jinhe’s doorstep and started yelling furiously, “Wang Jinhe, you wretched woman, get out here.”
“You shameless Wang Jinhe, how dare you seduce my son? Shouldn’t you just get out? How can my son be interested in a wretched person like you?” Luo Shi had lost all reason now. All she knew was that because of Wang Jinhe, her son was cutting ties with her. This was bad enough, but she couldn’t stand the disrespect from her son. Her son wasn’t like this. All of this was Wang Jinhe’s fault. How could a woman like her be worthy of catching her son’s eye?
Wang Jinhe, who was chatting in the courtyard after dinner, heard the angry shouts outside and furrowed her brows.
“Who is it again?” Su Yu’s eyebrows furrowed slightly. These people really didn’t seem to have had enough of their warnings and lessons.
“Young Lady, it’s that woman Luo Shi again,” Yuan Bao said, his eyes filled with anger after coming back from outside.
“Why is it her again? It never ends,” Wang Jinhe said with disgust.
“I’ll go and see.” Wang Jinhe stood up and walked outside. When Luo Shi saw Wang Jinhe coming out, she lunged at her, ready to attack.
Su Yu, who followed closely behind, was completely infuriated. She pulled Wang Jinhe behind her and kicked the woman away with one swift motion.
Su Yu glared at Luo Shi with intense anger. “Luo Shi, it seems the lesson we gave you before wasn’t enough, considering you’re still daring enough to come and trouble Xiao He.”
“Yuan Bao, go and invite the county magistrate here,” Su Yu instructed Yuan Bao who was nearby.
If they wouldn’t listen to reason, then they could reflect on their actions properly in the county jail before being released. People like her were just wasting their own food by being left outside; they didn’t deserve to stay here.
When Luo Shi heard that Su Yu intended to report her to the authorities, she panicked. She became agitated and said, “Shut up! Let me tell you, even if you report me, what can you do? Nothing will happen to me.”
Wang Jinhe glanced at Luo Shi and felt that this woman was incredibly naive to utter such words.
“Luo Shi, let me remind you. Your son is just a Schoolar, not an official. If we really decide to report you, your son’s status won’t matter at all. After all, he can’t influence the county magistrate’s judgment,” Wang Jinhe calmly explained.
“You…” Luo Shi understood this logic perfectly well. She was just trying to intimidate Wang Jinhe and the others, hoping they would abandon the idea of reporting her.
Yuan Bao looked at Luo Shi sympathetically. The young master had initially decided to spare this old woman, but now she was practically running to her own doom.
“I can’t believe you, Wang Jinhe! You’re already engaged, and yet you’re seducing my son. You really have no shame,” Luo Shi said, her eyes filled with anger.
Wang Jinhe looked at Luo Shi, utterly baffled. “What? Which son of yours are you talking about? I’ve never even met him! Are you out of your mind?”
If her mind were clear, she wouldn’t be saying such ridiculous things.
“Don’t pretend, Wang Jinhe. My son was led astray by you! If it weren’t for you, he wouldn’t have defied me. And don’t even think about becoming my daughter-in-law,” Luo Shi said, her face growing uglier with every word. She glared at Wang Jinhe with contempt. “As long as I’m alive, I won’t let you corrupt my son. You can forget about becoming my daughter-in-law.”
Wang Jinhe looked at Luo Shi sympathetically. Was this woman suffering from some kind of delusion?
“Su Yu, can you understand what she’s talking about?” Wang Jinhe turned to Su Yu, looking utterly puzzled.
Su Yu shook his head gently. “I have no idea what this woman is trying to say.”
Wang Jinhe spent most of her time with Su Yu; especially after their engagement, she was always accompanied by him. When had she ever gone to meet someone else without him knowing?
Yuan Xu returned at this moment, having apparently found out what had happened. When Wang Jinhe heard from Yuan Xu that Luo Shi’s son, Xie Yongzhen, had actually sided with her, she was genuinely surprised. Luo Shi, a person with such twisted morals, had a son with such a strong sense of justice?
However, there was one thing Xie Yongzhen had said that was true. If they had sincerely apologized from the beginning, perhaps Wang Jinhe might have forgiven them, giving them a chance to earn some money. Sadly, these people lacked Xie Yongzhen’s foresight, which led them to their current situation.
“Luo Shi, to be honest, your son is very intelligent.” Wang Jinhe commented, not mincing her words. “But it seems like you are not very bright.”
Hearing Wang Jinhe’s remark, Luo Shi was furious and was about to strike back. However, when she saw the cold gaze from Su Yu, she had to swallow her anger and said begrudgingly, “She’s already two-timing, yet you still protect her. Wang Jinhe, you’re quite impressive. Despite everything, you still manage to have him defend you like this.”
Wang Jinhe frowned at Luo Shi, utterly speechless. “No, seriously, is there something seriously wrong with your brain? If your not sick, you probably wouldn’t be able to say such things. Do I need to be any clearer? I don’t know your son, I’ve never met him. If you dare to slander me, we’ll clarify everything in front of the county magistrate. Coincidentally, Yuan Bao has gone to invite the county magistrate as well.”
She despised people who spread rumors without any basis, people who did nothing but spread lies, utterly disgusting to the extreme.
“Wang Jinhe, we’re all from the same village. If you dare to report to the authorities and capture me, our village chief won’t let you off either,” Luo Shi glared at Wang Jinhe, not holding back at all.
With that, “Yuan Xu, keep an eye on them. Su Yu and I are going to visit the village chief.” Wang Jinhe decided, walking away with Su Yu, leaving behind a furious Luo Shi and a vigilant Yuan Xu.
