“I’m going to find Old Yang now,” he said and left.
“Old Yang, I’m here.”
“Why are you here, Old Luo?” Wasn’t this the busy time for autumn harvest? Why did he have time to come over and chat?
“I have good news to share with you. Get Old Song and the others; I’ll talk when everyone is here.” Mr. Luo sat down casually and urged Old Yang to get the others.
“Alright.”
In no time, four more people walked in. One of them spoke, “Old Yang, why did you call us? We’re busy with the autumn harvest; it’s driving me crazy.”
“Exactly.”
“I called you here for the autumn harvest.” Mr. Luo explained the matter of the threshing machine, and after hearing it, everyone’s eyes lit up. “Is this true?”
“Of course, we tested it in the rice fields this afternoon, and the results were excellent. It’s fast and directly separates the grain, much simpler than previous years. I called you here to check my fields tomorrow. If you find it suitable, we each contribute two hundred taels of silver to buy the blueprints. Although the emperor might promote it later, we don’t know when it will reach our area, and whether we can get the blueprints directly is uncertain,” Mr. Luo explained.
“Old Luo is right; this isn’t expensive for us.” If this thing is as good as Old Luo says, they are willing to contribute five hundred taels each.
“Alright, tomorrow morning, we’ll come to your house.”
After discussing the matter, Mr. Luo left. The next day, when everyone gathered, he took them to the rice fields, and they worked enthusiastically.
With five threshing machines working together, the rice field was quickly covered.
Approaching the area, they looked at the harvested grains and clean rice stalks. “This thing is good. It’s fast, and the threshing is clean. Old Luo, let’s go get the blueprints.”
They wanted to get the blueprints early so they could find people to operate the threshing machines and quickly harvest the rice.
…
“This needs to include Ah-su; it’s his classmate’s sister who made it.”
Ah-Su and the group went straight to the Wang family.
“Why did you come, Big Brother Luo? My brother isn’t at home,” Wang Jinhe thought Luo Su was looking for Wang Jingyu.
” Sister Jinhe, today I’m not here to see Jingyu. I brought my father and a few uncles to visit you,” Luo Su explained.
Pointing at himself, Wang Jinhe curiously asked, “What are your father and the others looking for me for?”
“They came for the blueprints of the threshing machine.”
“Alright, come in.” Watching the six middle-aged men come down, Wang Jinhe invited them inside.
After entering the house, Luo Su introduced them to Wang Jinhe, “Sister Jinhe, this is my father, and these are a few uncles. They all have good relations with my father. Father, this is Jingyu’s sister, Wang Jinhe.”
“Hello, Uncles.”
“Hello, may I call you Jinhe? Do you mind?” Mr. Luo asked Wang Jinhe.
“Not at all,” Wang Jinhe responded with a smile, but inside, she felt extremely awkward.
After some small talk, just when Wang Jinhe was thinking of escaping, Luo Lao Ye finally spoke, “Jinhe, your family’s threshing machine is excellent. We would like to buy the blueprints for 1,200 taels.”
Wang Jinhe looked at Luo Lao Ye in surprise and quickly said, “This… it’s too much. We don’t need that much money. Besides, I’ve already submitted the blueprints. They will definitely be promoted, and there’s no need for you to do this.”
“Dear, for us, this sum of over a thousand taels is nothing. Every year, due to the inability to harvest grain on time, we suffer losses of at least tens of thousands of taels. Plus, we can’t wait for the court to promote it,” one of the people beside Mr. Luo said helplessly.
“That’s right. If it weren’t for the threshing machine you made this year, we would have suffered significant losses again,” another one added.
The group continued discussing the matter with Wang Jinhe, making her feel a bit embarrassed. In the end, she could only nod and agree, “Well… alright, I’ll give you the blueprints, but you don’t need that much…”
“This thing is not easy to come by; this amount is only fair,” Luo Lao Ye quickly said, taking out the money. Wang Jinhe was left speechless and had to accept the money, handing over the blueprints to them.
“Jinhe, your family’s vegetables are excellent. Could we buy some from you?” They had noticed the quality of Wang Jinhe’s vegetables when they entered.
“Of course, you can, but you’ll have to send someone to pick them up. We can’t go door to door to deliver,” Wang Jinhe apologized.
“I thought it was some major issue, turns out it’s just this? I’ll Just send my own people; by the way, can we buy eggs from your house? My son says your eggs are delicious, and he loves them,” Mr. Luo Laoasked with a smiling face.
Wang Jinhe couldn’t help but feel a bit of a headache. What exactly were these people here for?
“The eggs will be available next month.”
“Alright, make sure to reserve some for us when they’re ready. Don’t sell them to others.”
Wang Jinhe nodded with a forced smile. At this point, she really didn’t know what to do.
Fortunately, Su Yu came back early with the two children, which made her feel a little relieved.
“Uncles, please have a seat. I’ll go prepare some food.” Wang Jinhe walked to Su Yu’s side and whispered, “Help me entertain them a bit.”
Su Yu nodded with a smile.
After having a meal at Wang Jinhe’s house, they liked the dishes even more. One of them commented, “These dishes are really good; we’d like to buy some.”
“Sure.”
After seeing them off, Wang Jinhe finally breathed a sigh of relief. Su Yu looked at her relieved expression and couldn’t help but laugh.
“Why are you laughing? I’m almost embarrassed to death,” Wang Jinhe said irritably.
Su Yu laughed heartily, “Usually, you handle things so easily. Why are you suddenly like this?”
“Mainly because they were too enthusiastic, making me feel awkward,” Wang Jinhe said, shrugging.
Su Yu couldn’t help but laugh, “Is that so? Opportunities like this won’t come by too often in the future.”
“You have a point.”
Suddenly, Wang Jinhe thought about the next day when Wang Jingyu and his classmates were coming over for dinner and couldn’t help but feel a headache.
“Big brother is bringing his classmates over for dinner tomorrow. I don’t know how many people will be coming.”
“We’ll find out tomorrow, won’t we?”
“That’s true.”
The next day, Wang Jinhe got up early to prepare food for Wang Jingyu.
In the afternoon, while Wang Jinhe was preparing ingredients, Wang Jingyu came back with a group of people. Even before entering the house, someone complained, “Wang Jingyu, is this your home? If I had known your family lives in such a place, I wouldn’t have come.”
“Nobody invited you. If you want to leave, do it quickly. It’s not like I’m eagerly looking forward to having you at my house,” Wang Jingyu said impatiently.
“Wang Jingyu, I came to your house out of consideration. Otherwise, do you think…”
“You don’t need to consider me. Whoever brought you in can take you out. I find your presence annoying,” he interrupted.
