He likes Xiao bao, so adorable.
Xiao bao made a silly face at Wang Jinhe and held Zhang Zhilin’s hand to go see the sheep.
It was Zhang Zhilin’s first time seeing sheep, and he was somewhat amazed.
“When Grandpa comes back, let’s have a ride on the big sheep,” Xiao bao said.
“We can ride them?” The sheep’s fur was pure white and not dirty at all.
Xiao bao nodded, “Yes, but we can’t ride on little baa baa. Mom said big baa baa would get angry if we did.”
Looking at big baa baa’s big belly, Zhang Zhilin said, “It has babies in its belly, so we can’t ride on it.”
Xiao bao nodded seriously, “Exactly.”
“Brother, I’ll take you to see Big Flower and Little Flower,” Xiao bao said as he led Zhang Zhilin to find them. However, they couldn’t find Big Flower in the chicken coop.
“Big Flower, Little Flower, where are you?” Xiao bao called out when they didn’t find Big Flower.
Just as Zhang Zhilin was about to ask, two chickens ran out from the vegetable field, and the big rooster was especially beautiful.
“Big Flower, this is my brother. You need to protect him, okay?” Xiao bao touched Big Flower’s head and said earnestly, “Brother, do you want to touch it too?”
Zhang Zhilin was a bit nervous, but he still reached out and touched it. The feeling of touching something he had never encountered before made Zhang Zhilin’s eyes shine.
Big Flower rubbed its head against Zhang Zhilin’s little hand to show affection, then ran into the chicken coop, scratched at an egg with its claws, and placed it in front of Zhang Zhilin.
Zhang Zhilin looked at the egg Big Flower brought to him, a bit puzzled, “What is Big Flower doing with this?”
“Big Flower likes you. It’s giving you the egg as a gift. You know, we’re not allowed to take eggs from its and Little Flower’s nests, and yet it voluntarily gives you one,” Wang Jinhe was also surprised. Big Flower actively giving an egg to Zhang Zhilin was something that had never happened before.
“Thank you, Big Flower,” Zhang Zhilin picked up the slightly dusty egg and held it in his hand, sincerely thanking the chicken.
Big Flower shook its head, as if to say, “You’re welcome.”
Wang Jinhe looked down at Big Flower and jokingly said, “Since Big Flower has given one to me, how about you give me one too?”
As soon as Big Flower heard this, it seemed to get agitated, standing tall and proud, as if warning Wang Jinhe not to dare to touch its eggs.
Seeing Big Flower protecting its eggs so fiercely, Zhang Zhilin couldn’t help but think of it as a precious treasure in his hands.
“Tsk, I know you’re fiercely protective of your chicks. I won’t argue with you,” Wang Jinhe said with a hint of annoyance. “Xiao bao, take your big brother to play and don’t go outside.”
“Okay.”
After Wang Jinhe went to the kitchen, Wang Dagui walked in from outside. Xiao bao saw him and quickly said, “Grandpa, let’s ride Big Baa Baa.”
“Alright.” Wang Dagui picked up Little bao and Zhang Zhilin and went to ride Big Baa Baa.
It was the first time Zhang Zhilin had been carried by a stranger, and he felt a little tense. But as he sat on Big Baa Baa’s back, he found it fascinating. He had ridden a horse before, but never a sheep.
With Wang Dagui by their side, they rode Big Baa Baa around the courtyard without needing to hold the reins. When Wang Jinhe said it was time for lunch, they got down from Big Baa Baa.
After getting down, Zhang Zhilin went to get the gift he had forgotten.
“Xiao bao, this is for you.”
Xiao bao held the box in his arms, his eyes shining brightly. “Thank you, big brother.”
After having lunch, Xiao Bao played with Zhang Zhilin with building blocks. By the afternoon, Zhang Zhilin was reluctant to leave.
“Xiao Bao, I’ll come to play with you again later.”
“Okay, big brother, goodbye!” Xiao Bao ran back to his room and took out his favorite little horse to give to Zhang Zhilin.
On the way back, Zhang Zhilin held the egg given by Big Flower in one hand and the little horse given by Xiao Bao in the other hand, smiling with his eyes sparkling.
When Zhang Zhilin returned home, Zhang Qin and his wife were waiting for him. They were curious to see Zhang Zhilin holding an egg and a little wooden horse.
“What are these, son?”
“This egg was given by Big Flower, and this little horse was given by Xiao Bao,” Zhang Zhilin proudly said.
“Who is Big Flower?” they asked curiously.
“Big Flower is a really interesting rooster,” Zhang Zhilin explained. “Auntie said that it and the eggs in the nest with Little Flower are off-limits for people. This egg was brought to me by Big Flower itself, using its claws to present it to me. Auntie asked Big Flower to give her one too, but Big Flower got angry. Xiao Bao and I even got to ride on Big Baa baa. Big baa baa is a big goat and very obedient. It even let me touch its horns without getting mad.”
“And there’s also a little Baa Baa ,” Zhang Zhilin continued. “Xiao Bao said that little baa baa will have a little little baa baas in the future, and when it does, he will take me to see it when it’s born. Xiao Bao’s home has a lot of vegetables in the yard.”
As Zhang Zhilin excitedly shared his day at Xiao Bao’s house, Zhang Qin listened, feeling a bit overwhelmed by all the names – Big Flower, Little Flower, Big baa baa, Little baa baa, and Little Little baa baa.
A rooster that willingly gives eggs to people? Is that really true?
However, knowing that his son never lies, Zhang Qin didn’t harbor too many doubts.
“That sounds wonderful,” Zhang Qin replied.
“Yes, Xiao Bao also has a grandma and grandpa. Grandpa can weave beautiful little birds. He made one for me and a little butterfly too, but I forgot to bring them back. Grandma cooks delicious food,” Zhang Zhilin added with enthusiasm.
Zhang Qin couldn’t help but smile at his son’s animated storytelling. It seemed like he had a fantastic time at Xiao Bao’s home. It was heartwarming to see how quickly they had become friends. Zhang Qin felt grateful that his son had found such a kind playmate.
Seeing her son chattering with them, Madam Zhang thought about all the things she experienced today, and immediately felt that it was not wrong to let her son go to Wang Jinhe’s house.
When did they see their son talk so much?
“Then have you compared your height with Xiao Bao?”
Hearing this, Zhang Zhilin’s eyes widened, and then he puffed up and said: “I am taller than Xiaobao, and I will always be taller than Xiao Bao.”
Madam Zhang held back a smile and looked at her son, her silly son, why is he so cute?
“Did Xiaobao reach your ear?”
Zhang Zhilin snorted, turned his head to the side and refused to answer the question.
Seeing his son’s reaction, Zhang Qin couldn’t help but hold back a smile. He found it incredibly adorable.
“Do you like Xiao Bao, my son?” Zhang Qin asked.
Zhang Zhilin nodded vigorously, “Yes, Dad, can I go to play with Xiao Bao often in the future?”
“Of course, but in the second half of the year, you’ll start your studies,” Zhang Qin replied.
Zhang Zhilin earnestly nodded, “Okay, once I learn, I can teach Xiao Bao how to recognize words.”
Zhang Qin and his wife exchanged a glance. They knew that in the past, Zhang Zhilin would always become unhappy whenever the topic of enlightenment was brought up. But today, seeing their son so happy and enthusiastic about it, they couldn’t help but feel relieved. Otherwise, they wouldn’t have known when he would finally be willing to talk about it.
Now, his son had readily agreed? And he even wanted to teach Xiao Bao how to recognize words?
Xiao Bao was truly their family’s little lucky star. After their son got to know Xiao Bao, all the problems seemed to disappear.
“You’re the older brother, so if you want to teach Xiao Bao to recognize words, you’ll have to work hard,” Zhang Qin encouraged.
“I’ll definitely be better than Xiao Bao. He’s so silly,” Zhang Zhilin said with a hint of disdain, but the protectiveness in his tone was evident. “Xiao Bao is my little brother, so I must teach him how to recognize words, and I also need to practice martial arts. What if someone bullies Xiao Bao in the future? Dad, you have to find me a formidable master.”
Zhang Qin felt as if a huge pie had fallen from the sky and landed on his head, leaving him a bit dazed.
He turned to look at his wife, who seemed equally stunned. “Wife, is this still our son?”
The sudden change in their son’s attitude and his determination to protect his younger brother were beyond their expectations. It was like witnessing a completely different side of Zhang Zhilin, and both parents were pleasantly surprised by this transformation. They realized that Xiao Bao’s presence in their lives had brought about positive changes and opened up new possibilities for their son’s growth and development.
