“Mommy, when the strawberries are ripe, can we send some to Uncle Emperor and Grandma Empress Dowager?” Xiao Bao, hugging Wang Jinhe’s leg, asked eagerly.
“Other than the Emperor and Empress Dowager, who else would you like to give them to?”
“To Uncle.” Xiao Bao spoke without hesitation.
Uncle was all alone in the capital, so there must be no strawberries over there.
Su Xuan Xuan looked at Xiao Bao with a smile in her eyes. It was really nice for Su Yu to have such a child.
Xiao Bao’s personality was just like Su Yu’s; whether he liked someone or not could be seen at a glance. As long as he liked someone, Xiao Bao would treat them sincerely. If he didn’t like someone, he wouldn’t even spare a glance.
For example, the Emperor and Empress Dowager, whom he had never met, were in his thoughts.
“Okay, whoever Xiao Bao wants to give them to, we’ll give them to.”
After spending some time in the strawberry field, the group returned. From then on, Xiao Bao’s thoughts were all about strawberries. Wang Jinhe even thought about using Lingquan water to ripen a few strawberries for Xiao Bao, but Su Yu’s reminder stopped her.
“You, although your Lingquan water can help plants grow, it’s not meant to be used like this. What if it brings you trouble? The strawberries are growing fast enough already. We can eat them in two months. There’s no need to take risks. Besides, some things Xiao Bao wants, we can indeed provide, but there are things we can’t.” Su Yu could give Xiao Bao whatever he wanted within certain principles, but anything beyond that was a no-go.
After considering for a moment, Wang Jinhe reluctantly agreed, “You’re right. I’ll be more careful in the future.”
“No problem. I know you’re good to Xiao Bao, but the prerequisite is that you have to protect yourself first, understand?” Su Yu looked at Wang Jinhe seriously.
This kind of strawberry ripening activity would bring her trouble. How could Su Yu agree to such a thing?
“I understand. I won’t do it again. Don’t worry.” Wang Jinhe realized that her thoughts were dangerous, and she instantly dismissed the idea of ripening the strawberries.
“It’s best that you realize the problem. It saves me from worrying day by day. I’ve already found the best craftsman. It will take twenty days.”
“That’s alright. There’s still plenty of time for adjustments.” Wang Jinhe was worried that what the other party made wouldn’t be what she wanted.
“Good, I’ll make sure you’re satisfied when the time comes.”
As they prepared for the wedding, after Yang Shanshan and Su Qin rushed day and night to reach the Xie family village, they finally arrived.
Looking at the house in front of her, Yang Shanshan’s eyes were filled with disgust. How good could children raised in a place like this be anything special?
How could someone like this match up to her son?
Yang Shanshan, with a gloomy face, said to the person beside her, “Go knock on the door.”
Just as the guard was about to knock on the door, it opened from the inside. The person at the door was Su Yu with a stranger, a girl.
From their intimate demeanor, Yang Shanshan could tell that this was the person who had saved Su Yu back then.
Seeing Yang Shanshan, the smile on Su Yu’s face diminished.
“What are you here for?” Su Yu asked indifferently.
“Come back with us,” Yang Shanshan said to Su Yu, looking at her as if refusal was not an option.
Su Yu chuckled softly, gazing coolly at Yang Shanshan. “Under what authority do you have to say that to me?”
“I’m your mother. A village woman like her isn’t suitable for you. Come back with me, and I’ll find you a noble young lady who matches your status,” Yang Shanshan thought everything she was doing was for Su Yu’s own good, but she didn’t consider whether Su Yu needed it.
Su Yu burst into laughter, mocking Yang Shanshan. “Are you suitable?”
“Su Yu…” Being spoken to like this by Su Yu in front of Wang Jinhe, Yang Shanshan felt like she was losing all face.
Wang Jinhe held Su Yu’s hand, then looked at Yang Shanshan. “Have you always been acting on your own assumptions? Thinking that by doing what you believe is good for Su Yu, you can impose what you think is good onto him?”
“Arrogant! What are you? How dare you speak to me like this?” Yang Shanshan angrily rebuked.
“Are you lashing out in anger? After doing so much to harm Su Yu, do you really think he would listen to you now?” Due to Yang Shanshan’s actions towards Su Yu, Wang Jinhe had no favorable impression of this woman, and her words were quite harsh.
Yang Shanshan was trembling with anger at Wang Jinhe’s words. Just as she was about to speak, she heard Wang Jinhe continue, “I know everything you’ve done to Su Yu. Every time I hear him talk about it, I want to ask you a question. Is he your biological child? No, I should ask, are the three siblings your biological children?”
Su Qin looked at Wang Jinhe speaking sharply, frowning slightly. His expression was not good. “Young lady, be mindful of your words. Regardless, Shanshan is your elder.”
“Elder? What kind of elders are you? I’ve never heard of any elders doing such things.” Wang Jinhe sneered disdainfully.
Provoked by Wang Jinhe, Yang Shanshan gave a cold laugh and whipped the whip towards her.
Su Yu had intended to dodge with Wang Jinhe in his arms, but upon seeing the person who walked out of the house, he shielded Wang Jinhe in front of him, and the whip landed on Su Yu’s back.
Yang Shanshan shrank back a little in shock. He actually did that without regard.
“Su Yu.” Wang Jinhe was completely dumbfounded, anxiously checking Su Yu’s back.
“I’m fine, Xiao He. She didn’t hurt me.” Su Yu reassured Wang Jinhe with a smile.
“How can you be fine? She whipped you so ruthlessly.” The clothes on Su Yu’s back were torn, and there was a bloodstain. How could this be considered fine?
Yang Zhenwei watched helplessly as his grandson was being beaten by Yang Shanshan.
If it weren’t for the timely intervention of his grandson, it would have been Wang Jinhe who was beaten.
Anger erupted in Yang Zhenwei, and he stared at Yang Shanshan. When she was about to strike again, Yang Zhenwei flew out, grabbing the whip. With a forceful tug, the whip was already in Su Xi’s hands.
“Dad…” Yang Shanshan saw Yang Zhenwei’s eyes flicker slightly. Although she heard that Yang Zhenwei was here, she thought that after so long, he should have left. Who would have thought he was still here?
“Yang Shanshan, you’re quite imposing, huh?” Yang Zhenwei’s voice contained suppressed anger, as if it could explode at any moment.
“Dad, I…” Yang Shanshan was completely flustered. If she had known that Yang Zhenwei was still here, she wouldn’t have attacked directly.
Yang Zhenwei’s eyes never wavered, and he swung the whip towards Yang Shanshan, who screamed in pain.
Seemingly realizing that it wasn’t appropriate to act in front of Wang Jinhe, Yang Zhenwei turned to look at her. “Xiao He, take Su Yu back.”
Wang Jinhe supported Su Yu and left. As they departed, Su Yu smiled at Yang Shanshan with a calculating expression, leaving her completely dumbfounded.
He did it on purpose.
