Lingquan Space: Fortunate Wife of a Farmer’s Family Chapter 261

Chapter 261: New Year

“The uncle who brought gifts for us said this is for you,” Xiao Bao pointed to the two boxes nearby.

Upon hearing this, Wang Jinhe really wanted to drag Su Yu back and give him a beating.

Especially when she opened the boxes and saw a large box of pearls inside.

Her skin is already very good now, she doesn’t need to continue using pearls, but that clever Su Yu still sent so many back.

Gu Jing looked at the large box of pearls and laughed uncontrollably, “Xiao He, your brother is quite impressive, directly sending so many pearls over. Is he planning for you to use pearls as food?”

She couldn’t help but burst into laughter after saying that.

“Not for eating, but for crushing and applying on the face,” Wang Jinhe said with a smile while looking at Gu Jing.

She could find fault with what Su Yu gave her, but others definitely couldn’t.

“I haven’t even said anything, and you’re already protecting him,” Gu Jing said teasingly.

“What you said makes it sound like you’re not protecting your brother-in-law,” Wang Jinhe retorted without hesitation.

Comparing thickness of face with Su Yu is impossible.

Gu Jing immediately raised her hands in surrender, “You’re formidable, I can’t argue with you.”

Wang Jinhe was finally satisfied. Gu Jing stood beside her, looking at the things Su Yu sent. After finishing, Gu Jing teased, “People can’t come back, but these gifts keep coming.”

Upon hearing this, Wang Jinhe just chuckled softly. Compared to these things, she actually hoped Su Yu could come back, at least to accompany Xiao Bao.

Zhang Qin watched the two chatting away, quickly excusing himself, not wanting to get involved in their conversation.

With the things Su Yu sent back, Xiao Bao was quite happy, holding a strawberry the size of his fist, eating while exploring the contents.

Wang Jinhe spoke a few words to Gu Jing and then turned to the kitchen to help.

By noon, they had prepared a feast for two tables.

“Su Yu marrying a wife who is so capable in both the hall and the kitchen is really worth it.” Wang Jinhe was impressed. It was incredible how she could cook so deliciously and beautifully.

“I feel the same way,” Wang Jinhe said, even laughing at herself.

There was no comparison between her and Su Yu in terms of worthiness; both were deserving.

“Look at you being so cheesy; I’m getting goosebumps.”

“I don’t mind if you and brother-in-law publicly display affection.” Wang Jinhe looked at Gu Jing with a smirk, unapologetically retaliating.

Gu Jing could see it now; getting an advantage in front of Wang Jinhe was nearly impossible.

“You really don’t suffer any losses, girl.”

“I eat everything except losses. What’s good about suffering losses?” Wang Jinhe raised her eyebrows.

Eating losses is something only those who are often bullied would do. She didn’t want to be bullied, so naturally, she wouldn’t accept any losses.

The family chatted while having dinner, and the two children quickly finished and ran off.

After finishing the meal and cleaning up, it was already afternoon. Wang Jinhe began chopping filling and rolling dumpling wrappers to make dumplings.

“You just had lunch, and now you’re starting to cook again?” Gu Jing couldn’t help but ask when she saw Wang Jinhe busy again.

“I’m making the dumplings for tonight and tomorrow morning. I can just cook them when the time comes,” Wang Jinhe said without looking up.

The weather had cooled down a bit today, and she wanted to sleep in tomorrow morning.

“I’ll help too, then.” Gu Jing washed her hands and went to help wrap dumplings.

With the autumn chill in the air, they quickly wrapped the dumplings and placed them on the stove.

Wang Jinhe took the food to the living room to join the New Year’s Eve vigil with everyone.

Xiao Bao and Xiao Zhi fell asleep not long after, and Wang Jinhe and Gu Jing carried them back to their rooms. Watching the two children sleeping, Gu Jing’s eyes were filled with tenderness.

“This time coming back, I can clearly feel that Xiao Zhi has changed a lot. Xiao He, thank you both,” Gu Jing knew who was responsible for all this.

Since their return, they saw the children practicing literature and martial arts every day with Xiao Bao, and there was no resistance at all. This made her feel that things were very different now.

After leaving the Gu family, she once thought that Xiao Zhi might not enjoy reading anymore. However, in a short period, he showed no resistance at all. This was all thanks to Su Yu’s efforts, of course, and also inseparable from Wang Jinhe’s meticulous care.

“Why be polite with me? Xiao Zhi is our godson, and it’s only right to treat him well. Don’t overthink it. Have they reached out to you over there?” Wang Jinhe asked.

“Yes, they wanted us to send Xiao Zhi back, saying things would be different in the future, but we refused.” Just the thought of everything Xiao Zhi had endured filled Gu Jing with resentment.

Wang Jinhe patted Gu Jing’s shoulder and smiled, “Make your own decisions. As for that side, I can’t say much. I just want to tell you to consider everything for Xiao Zhi. He can’t withstand such torment anymore.” Despite Xiao Zhi seeming fine now, he was quite sensitive, and he knew everything about who treated him well and who didn’t.

Gu Jing sighed lightly, her eyes filled with helplessness. “I know this, and for Xiao Zhi, I won’t reconcile with them. After all…”

She didn’t finish her sentence, but Wang Jinhe guessed some of it. It was probably something related to the discomfort she felt with the Gu family.

” Sister Jing, it’s already the second time.” Wang Jinhe suddenly said.

Gu Jing stared at Wang Jinhe, her body stiff. Yes, she was right; it was already the second time.

The wavering heart became firm at this moment. Even though the Gu family had contacted her, promising not to mistreat Xiao Zhi again, who knew if it was genuine?

What if they still saw Xiao Zhi as a pawn?

“Xiao He, rest assured, I know what to do.” Gu Jing said firmly.

“Think about what the child has endured, and you won’t do this. After all, the child is the ultimate victim. Think about it. I’ll go back to my room to rest.” She didn’t want to stay up for the New Year; she had been busy all day and wanted to take a break. She planned to wake up later and cook the dumplings when the time came.

However, once Wang Jinhe fell asleep, she slept until the next morning.

As she opened her eyes in the misty morning, Wang Jinhe looked at the bright sky outside, rubbing her forehead. She didn’t expect her nap to last so long.

After freshening up and going out, with the autumn chill in the air, they prepared the dumplings. Everyone else had already eaten breakfast, leaving only her.

After breakfast, Wang Jinhe prepared a lot of food and some red envelopes with ten copper coins each.

After the preparations, familiar children came to the house to pay New Year’s greetings. Wang Jinhe gave each child a red envelope and many snacks they had never seen before.

Every child came empty-handed and left with full hands.

Enjoying the delicious treats, they invited Xiao Bao and Xiao Zhi to join them, but the invitation was declined. The children left with their gifts after being turned down.
