“Naturally, you’re a big help,” Wang Jinhe replied with a gentle smile, perhaps now having an idea of what to do.
Observing Wang Jinhe, Qiu Yi still felt a bit concerned and couldn’t resist speaking up once more, “Miss, no matter what you choose to do, as long as you do your best, that’s enough. If we can’t assist in other matters, that’s just how it is. After all, you can’t truly manage everything. Once we return to the Xie family village, you’ll have plenty on your plate too.”
Wang Jinhe chuckled at Qiu Yi. She couldn’t help but feel that Qiu Yi seemed overly worried about her well-being.
” Qiu Yi, you worry too much. Now, upon reflection, I realize you’re right. Overthinking only leads to unnecessary trouble. What good does that do?” Wang Jinhe mused. Why not just continue living life as it is now? Wouldn’t that be perfect?
Observing Wang Jinhe’s noticeably lighter demeanor, Qiu Yi finally felt reassured, “If you shoulder everything and burden yourself, Master Su will surely be distressed when he returns.”
“Moreover, these matters aren’t your fault. It’s the people who can’t uphold their own standards. How could that be blamed on you?” After spending so much time with Wang Jinhe, how could Qiu Yi not understand her thoughts?
She probably thinks that if she helps the common people earn more grain, they wouldn’t resort to selling grain. But can the young lady really manage that?
Although the village head’s words were harsh, there was a grain of truth in them. The grain belonged to them, and ultimately, it was up to them how they chose to handle it.
“You don’t need to comfort me. I’m not that fragile,” Wang Jinhe chuckled as she looked at Qiu Yi shaking her head.
“I don’t think you’re fragile; I just believe you’re too kind.” The young lady often considers the well-being of the common people, but unfortunately, some don’t seem to appreciate it.
Pointing at herself with a puzzled expression, Wang Jinhe asked, “You think I’m kind?”
Qiu Yi nodded, “Yes, Miss, you are inherently kind.”
“Leaving aside my sister and me, consider the young ladies sent to the Lou Mansion by Yang Shanshan. Which one hasn’t been treated well? Over the past two years, you’ve even found them good families.” When those young ladies got married, the Miss not only provided them with dowries but also handed over their contracts of indenture.
Since then, those young ladies have transformed into respectable citizens. The Miss didn’t dismiss them after their marriages but continued to employ them at home, providing them with a decent monthly income. This money ensured they lived comfortably in their maternal homes.
Isn’t the Miss’s actions considered kindness?
If it were someone else, they would likely not even spare a glance. How could she treat them so well, akin to the Madam?
Blushing slightly at Qiu Yi’s words, Wang Jinhe sheepishly responded, ” Qiu Yi, I’m not as good as you make me out to be.”
“Miss, just ask any of our household members. They all think the same way. You’ve always been this kind. We all believe that Master Su must have been exceptionally fortunate in his past life to marry such a wonderful lady like you.” The servants privately discussed that if the Master mistreated the Miss, they would stand up for her.
The Miss is capable in every aspect, excelling not only in her skills but also in cooking delicious meals.
Contrary to other noble ladies only skilled in arts and literature, the Miss is proficient in all areas.
What the Miss knows, they might not necessarily be adept at.
Amused by Qiu Yi’s words, Wang Jinhe realized that Qiu Yi was indeed her loyal supporter; everything she did was right in Qium Yi’s eyes.
“By the way, Miss, recently Master and Elder Master seem quite busy. Rarely seen around” They were barely visible these days.
Prompted by Qiu Yi’s reminder, Wang Jinhe remembered that both Yu Qingfeng and Yu Jingchuan is always missing lately. Unsure about their whereabouts or why they were so occupied, she decided she needed to check on her father and uncle soon.
Wang Jinhe found a moment to visit Yu Qingfeng and Yu Jingchuan. Upon arrival, she noticed their solemn expressions, engaged in a serious conversation.
“Father, Uncle, what have you been busy with lately? It’s rare not to see you around and looking so serious.” Curious, Wang Jinhe inquired.
“It’s some family matters from the Yu family, coupled with the evidence Madam Gu provided. We’ve been following leads and uncovering quite a bit. But you don’t need to worry about these matters; your father and I will handle them. You just focus on what you enjoy,” Yu Jingchuan spoke solemnly, reassuring Wang Jinhe.
He didn’t want Wang Jinhe to get involved in any of these matters.
Wang Jinhe opened her mouth, intending to say something, but seeing Yu Jingchuan’s determined expression, she understood that he wouldn’t divulge any details no matter how she asked.
Realizing Yu Jingchuan’s stance, Wang Jinhe refrained from pressing further.
“Please take care and stay safe, don’t get hurt,” Wang Jinhe expressed her concern to the two.
Yu Jingchuan nodded with a smile, “Don’t worry, we’ll be fine.”
“Xiao He, I’ve heard that you’ve been quite occupied lately? You even sent Xiao Bao and the others to the palace,” Yu Qingfeng remarked after their conversation, turning to Wang Jinhe.
Wang Jinhe’s expression turned serious as she proceeded to inform them about the grain-selling incident to Lu Empire.
“Luo Hou has gone to retrieve the grain, we’ve also captured a suspect and gathered some leads,” Wang Jinhe shared. Nan Qiao was handling these matters, and she was merely aware of the developments, although it seemed Nan Qiao and the others were reluctant to involve her directly.
This left Wang Jinhe feeling somewhat helpless.
“You haven’t gotten involved in these matters, have you?” Yu Jingchuan asked his niece seriously.
Shaking her head, Wang Jinhe replied, “No, Luo Hou and Nan Qiao are handling these issues. They don’t want me to intervene.” Wang Jinhe expressed her frustration at being kept out of the loop.
Yu Jingchuan nodded in satisfaction, “That’s good. I was worried you might join them and cause trouble.”
Perplexed, Wang Jinhe looked at Yu Jingchuan. Why would it be considered not causing trouble if others were involved in these matters, but if she were to be involved, it would be seen as causing trouble?
This behavior could be seen as a double standard.
“When will Su Yu be back, Uncle?” Wang Jinhe couldn’t help but ask.
Yu Jingchuan chuckled, “Missing Su Yu?”
Feeling a bit embarrassed, Wang Jinhe nodded, “Yes.”
“If you miss Su Yu, just write him a letter. Why ask me?” Yu Jingchuan teased Wang Jinhe with a smile.
Clearing her throat lightly, Wang Jinhe appeared somewhat sheepish.
Wasn’t she worried about disturbing Su Yu?
Seeing Wang Jinhe’s embarrassed expression, Yu Jingchuan understood perfectly well what was going on.
“Don’t worry, by the time he receives your letter, Su Yu will be getting ready to go back,” Yu Jingchuan replied somewhat teasingly.
“I’ll go write a letter to Su Yu then,” she said before leaving.
