No matter how loudly Hong Yi cries, as long as Xiao Bao speaks up to comfort him, the crying stops.
This phenomenon surprised the old ladies. Despite them being the ones who took care of Hong Yi the most, he seemed to prefer Xiao Bao.
“Look how pleased you are,” Wang Jinhe now seemed to somewhat believe what Su Yu had said about Xiao Bao having many friends.
“Xiao Bao, we am going to the cotton field? Will you go with us?” The cotton has recently started flowering, and she wants to take a look.
“No, we want to play with Hong Yi,” Xiao Bao replied without even lifting his head.
Seeing that they were not interested, Wang Jinhe didn’t insist and went to the cotton field with a basket.
At the cotton field, Wang Jinhe looked at the cotton. It seemed that this year she would be able to make cotton thread from the cotton and then use it for weaving.
Cloth woven from cotton is the most comfortable to wear as inner clothing.
Of course, they also need to make quilts.
Thinking about it, Wang Jinhe felt that the amount of cotton in her house might not be enough.
After finishing her tasks, Wang Jinhe took a basket to the vegetable garden to pick some vegetables before returning.
In the past two months, whether it was the Gu family or the Yu family, or even Gu Xiruo’s fiancĂ©, no one had visited. Whether it was because they were beaten badly or for some other reason, Wang Jinhe had enjoyed a considerable amount of peace recently.
Back home, Wang Jinhe drew blueprints for a spinning machine and a loom, asking Yuang Ji to have Su Yu’s people help her make these things.
She considered that if these items worked well, she could promote pure cotton fabric and cotton quilts.
However, the land in her hands was too small, and there was too little cotton that could be grown.
“Let’s see later. If it doesn’t work out, we can ask the neighboring villages for help in growing cotton. We can have them sign contracts at that time,” Wang Jinhe mumbled to herself.
Two months might seem quick or slow, depending on perspective.
Su Yu walked out of Forget Sorrow City, shielding his eyes with his hand. He could finally go home.
Yu Jingchuan stood at the city gate with his back to Su Yu. As Su Yu walked over, he said, “Uncle.”
Turning around and looking at the completely transformed Su Yu, Yu Jingchuan’s face carried a smile, and he became even more appreciative of Su Yu.
“You did well.” Originally, Yu Jingchuan thought Su Yu would have to stay in Forget Sorrow City for at least half a year before he could leave. He didn’t expect Su Yu to meet his requirements in just less than 5 months.
“Thank you, Uncle.”
“Go find your subordinates. They’re also waiting for you. I can see that you’re eager to fly back,” Yu Jingchuan teased.
Yu Shan stood behind Yu Jingchuan, looking at Su Yu with admiration. According to the master’s arrangement, it would take the young master ten months to complete the task. Yet, he had accomplished it in less than five months, which was quite impressive.
Even now, Su Yu might not be an opponent for him.
Su Yu felt a bit embarrassed. “It’s been almost eight months since I left home.”
Considering the time he spent dealing with his own matters, it had indeed been almost eight months since he left, and the fruits and vegetables at home should be ready for harvest.
“Go back soon.”
“Uncle, aren’t you coming back with me?”
Yu Jingchuan shook his head. “I’ll be back for the New Year.”
Seeing him say this, Su Yu didn’t press further and rode his horse to find Yuan Bao and the others.
Seeing the greatly changed Yuan Bao, Su Yu frowned and asked, “Yuan Bao, are you okay?”
“Young Master, don’t worry, I’m fine.” Although the past few months had been somewhat painful, all the hardships were not in vain. His strength had increased by more than double.
“That’s good. How about the rest of you?”
“It’s been brutal, but very practical. Our strength has all increased,” Yuan Xu said, recalling the experiences of the past few months with a bit of lingering emotion. However, the improvement in their strength made them quite satisfied.
Su Yu felt relieved. “Let’s go home, then.”
“These are the things we collected during our missions. You can give them to the Madam and the Young Master.” Yuan Xu and the others happily brought out several boxes.
When the Young Master said “home,” yes, Xie Family Village had become their home.
That place was really good, so good that they were unwilling to leave, wanting to guard it forever.
Su Yu glanced at the items they found, all of which were favorites of Wang Jinhe and the two children.
“Let’s go home.”
The group hurried back with their belongings, taking half a month to return.
“Mommy, let’s go quickly and pick the best watermelon for Uncle and Uncle Emperor. We want to give them the best watermelon.” A little guy had already run out with his voice.
Seeing her son, whom he hadn’t seen for almost a year, Su Yu dismounted and walked over, reaching out to scoop Xiao Bao into his arms.
Xiao Bao was startled by Su Yu’s sudden movement. When he turned his head and saw the familiar face, he froze. Extending his little hand to pinch Su Yu’s sleeve, he realized it was real and immediately hugged Su Yu, crying, “Daddy, why did you take so long to come back? You’ve been gone for a long time.”
Daddy left when the watermelons were planted, and now that the watermelons were ready harvested, Daddy came back.
Such a long time.
“Daddy is back. From now on, whenever Daddy goes somewhere, we’ll bring Xiao Bao and Mommy, okay?” Seeing Xiao Bao cry, Su Yu felt a bit distressed.
Xiao Bao nodded heavily. “And we should bring Big Brother and Little Brother too.”
“Okay, we will bring Big Brother and Little Brother too.”
“Mother, Daddy is back!” Xiao Bao suddenly turned and shouted into the house.
In the house, Wang Jinhe, holding Hong Yi, was startled when she heard Xiao Bao’s voice. She walked out quickly, and when she saw the man holding Xiao Bao, a smile appeared on her face. “You’re back.”
Su Yu walked over, reached out, and embraced Wang Jinhe. He lowered his head and kissed her on the face. “I’m back.”
The simple phrase “I’m back” made Wang Jinhe feel relieved.
Wang Jinhe looked at Xiao Bao. “Xiao Bao, how about we go pick watermelons for Uncles tomorrow?”
“Okay!” Xiao Bao nodded eagerly.
Daddy is back, so he doesn’t want to go to the melon field. He wants to be with Daddy.
The group returned home, and Wang Jinhe instructed Quiyi and the others, along with Yuan Bao and the rest, to prepare some delicious food. Then, she let Su Yu, hold the ten-month-old Hong Yi, in order to go to cook for Su Yu.
Being held by Su Yu, Hong Yi didn’t feel unfamiliar. He looked at Su Yu and then turned to Xiao Bao. “Big Brother.”
“You should call me Master, not Big Brother.” Su Yu reached out and touched Hong Yi’s head.
The child has been well taken care of by Wang Jinhe and the others.
“Master.” Hong Yi hesitated for a while before saying that.
Su Yu couldn’t help but smile at this child. He was just too adorable.
“Daddy, Hong Yi called me first,” Xiao Bao boasted while lying on Su Yu’s leg.
“Really? Xiao Bao, are you good to your little brother? Is that why he called you first?” Su Yu looked at Xiao Bao and asked.
Xiao Bao suddenly fell silent; in reality, he often teased Hong Yi.
“Godfather, Xiao Bao often teases poor Hong Yi, but Hong Yi likes him the most. As long as Xiao Bao comforts him, no matter how much Hong Yi cries, he will immediately start laughing.” Regarding this, everyone in the family couldn’t understand why Hong Yi liked mischievous Xiao Bao so much.
Su Yu’s eyes carried a hint of amusement. Indeed, Xiao Bao was capable of such things.
After chatting with the two children for a while and asking about their studies, Wang Jinhe came in carrying the meal.
“Come over and have something to eat first.”
