“Big Flower, Xiao Bao want to touch your baby, is that okay?” Wang Jinhe asked Big Flower.
Big Flower and Little Flower came over with their children and surrounded Xiao Bao and Xiao Zhi.
Xiao Bao and Xiao Zhi happily extended their hands to touch the chicks.
“Wow, the little chicks are so fluffy and cute.”
After they played for a while, Wang Jinhe asked them to stop and not continue touching, as too much playing could harm the chicks.
In the afternoon, Grandma Wang finally returned, carrying a basket in her hand. “Grandma, you’re back.”
“It’s a good thing I left early, or else someone might have taken them away,” Grandma Wang said with emotion.
Wang Jinhe smiled at Grandma Wang and said, “Grandma, thank you.”
“What are you thanking me for?”
“What did Grandma bring back?” Xiao Bao asked curiously.
Grandma Wang placed the basket on the ground and lifted the blanket covering it. “Puppies.”
Zhang Zhilin quickly walked over to take a look, and indeed, there were five puppies.
Seeing Zhang Zhilin’s joyful expression, Wang Jinhe asked, “Do you want one too? You can take it back with your parents when they come to pick you up.”
“Yes, I want this one,” Zhang Zhilin chose a white puppy with black paws and ears. The other four would belong to their family.
“This one is called Dumpling, this one is Tangyuan, this one is Soy Milk, and this one…” Xiao Bao tilted his head, trying to come up with a name but couldn’t decide. “Oh right, Youtiao.”
Wang Jinhe couldn’t stop laughing at these food-related names. They were all names of snacks that Xiao Bao liked. What could she say?
Xiao Bao giggled, “I like to eat them.”
Slightly embarrassed by Xiao Bao’s cuteness, Wang Jinhe chuckled, “What’s your dog’s name, big brother?”
“Let’s call it Candy.” Since Xiao Bao’s dogs were all named after food, he decided to follow suit.
With that, the family was complete.
“Play with them.”
Wang Jinhe walked over, and Grandma Wang finally said, “Xiao He, don’t go into the mountains recently. I heard it’s a bit dangerous in there lately.”
Wang Jinhe paused for a moment and then smiled as he nodded, ” Grandma, rest assured, I generally don’t go into the mountains when I’m free. Besides, I’m quite busy lately. Our house has been built, and we need to start preparing the furniture and other things.”
Grandma Wang thought about it and realized that they indeed didn’t have much time to spend here now. “That’s true. After all, there’s a lot to do. Tomorrow, let’s bring everything back.”
“Alright, but Grandma, can we treat you to a meal?” Wang Jinhe asked.
Grandma Wang shook her head, “No need. We’re not from this village either. When the time comes, we’ll invite a few families with whom we have a good relationship for a little get-together. That should be enough. There’s no need for anything else.”
Wang Jinhe readily agreed. After all, organizing such gatherings could be quite tiring, and the rest of the work wasn’t too demanding.
The next day, Wang Jinhe took the two little ones with him to join Wang Dagui and the others for the festivities.
After they arrived in town and picked up the furniture, they headed back home. Wang Jinhe, along with Gu Shi, took the two children to the apothecary to buy some seasoning ingredients. She had almost run out of the ones she had bought earlier, so this trip was to replenish their supplies.
“Brother, I want to buy medicinal herbs.”
The medicine apprentice looked around but didn’t see anyone until he felt a tug on his pants, and he spotted the child beside him.
However, one of the children seemed a bit familiar, like he had seen them somewhere before.
Huang Qi, upon hearing that Wang Jinhe had come, emerged from the back. “Little lady, you’re here? Do you have any good stuff this time?”
Wang Jinhe twitched her lips and looked at Huang Qi. “Uncle Huang, do you think these good things are so easy to come by? I’m here today to buy some medicinal herbs.”
“Alright, I’ll have the apprentice prepare them for you.”
“But Mommy, Xiao Bao doesn’t want to take medicine,” Xiao Bao suddenly said, covering his mouth.
Wang Jinhe looked at Xiao Bao, who had a resistant expression, with a wry smile and said, “You little rascal, when did Mommy say she’s going to make you take medicine? This is not for you to eat.”
Xiao Bao instantly felt relieved, and Zhang Zhilin’s tense body also relaxed.
Mother? This young lady already has a child?
Lowering his head to look at the child in Wang Jinhe’s arms, Huang Qi was struck by surprise. He looked at Wang Jinhe’s expression, which was somewhat strange, and asked, “This child is…”
“This is my son. What do you think? Isn’t he handsome?”
Huang Qi awkwardly nodded, “Indeed, he’s very handsome.”
Wang Jinhe didn’t notice the change in Huang Qi’s expression. She looked around, and if she ever found out that someone tried to take her child in the future, perhaps due to Huang Qi revealing the information, she figured she’d give herself a slap.
Wang Jinhe didn’t need many medicinal herbs, but some of them were quite troublesome to obtain. It took her nearly half an hour to gather everything.
“Huang Shu, we’re leaving now.”
“Take care. Remember to let me know if you have any good stuff in the future, and don’t sell it to others, okay?”
Wang Jinhe nodded without hesitation, “Of course, after all, Uncle Huang, you offered a very fair price.”
“Alright, take care of yourselves.”
After they left, Huang Qi hurriedly wrote a letter to send to Su Yu.
Their young master hasn’t even married yet, and now they have a child, and this child bears a striking resemblance to their young master.
At this moment, Wang Jinhe was still unaware that Xiao Bao’s situation had already been sent to the capital city by Huang Qi, and she was happily returning home with her family.
Once they returned home, grandma gave instructions to assemble the bed and the wardrobe.
With six people working together, they quickly finished assembling the furniture.
“Brother, come and see, our bed looks so nice!” Xiao Bao was the first to go to his room, and he was overjoyed when he saw the bed inside.
Zhang Zhilin walked over and looked at the bed, finding it quite amazing. “This bed even has two layers, and there’s a ladder on this side. Let’s climb up and take a look.”
After climbing up, Xiao Bao didn’t give Zhang Zhilin a chance to react and slid down the slide directly.
“Wow, this is so much fun! Brother, come down quickly.” At the end of the slide, Wang Jinhe had placed a blanket, so it didn’t hurt at all.
Zhang Zhilin watched as Xiao Bao had already gone down, and he was really annoyed. He quickly slid down as well.
“So dangerous! What if you really fell and got hurt?” Zhang Zhilin asked, looking at Xiao Bao with a stern expression.
Xiao Bao, seeing Zhang Zhilin upset, shrank his neck and said, “Brother, I’m sorry. I’ll definitely tell you first next time.”
Zhang Zhilin nodded in satisfaction, “That’s better.”
“Brother, let’s continue playing,” Xiao Bao said excitedly.
Zhang Zhilin was also experiencing this kind of bed for the first time, and he was even more curious and excited than Xiao Bao.
The two of them had a great time, and when they heard laughter, Wang Jinhe came over to find them and saw that both of them were already having fun.
Indeed, the love for playfulness was a natural trait of children. They hadn’t even been told how to play, yet they already knew how to have fun.
