“Grandpa, am I going to have an uncle?” Xiao Bao asked quietly in Su Yu’s ear on the way back.
Uncle Qin Lang is good to Aunt Su Shan, just like how Daddy is to Mommy.
Su Yu rubbed Xiao Bao’s head and asked in a very soft voice, “So, how does Xiao Bao feel about this future uncle?”
“It’s passable, I guess,” Xiao Bao replied.
Hearing Xiao Bao’s words, Su Yu couldn’t help but rub his head, chuckling, “You’re quite the character.”
“I’m not wrong. Aunt is so good, she’s letting him off easy,” Xiao Bao huffed.
His aunt was the best aunt in the world. If his aunt could take a liking to Qin Lang, he would be convinced. “Daddy, if he doesn’t treat Aunt well in the future, you should beat him up and turn him into a pig’s head.”
Xiao Bao’s voice was a bit loud, and everyone heard it.
Luo Su laughed heartily. “Any thoughts, Alang?”
“That day will never come,” Qin Lang replied.
Su Yu raised an eyebrow and looked at Qin Lang. “Then I’ll wait and see.”
Su Shan felt a bit embarrassed but also very happy.
When they returned to the Wang family, Qin Lang and the others stayed for a while before leaving. Su Yu and Wang Jinhe told Su Xi about Qin Lang.
After listening, Su Xi looked at his granddaughter. ” Su Shan, what do you think?”
“He’s a good person, and I have a good impression of him,” Su Shan said seriously after careful consideration.
Now that she had spoken, she would take responsibility for her actions and words.
Su Xi nodded with a smile. “I’ve met Qin Lang a few times. He’s a good person to talk to, and although his family may not be as well-off as ours, their conditions are quite good. Most importantly, he is hardworking and ambitious, which is the most important thing. If you choose him, I would be happy to see you two together. You can spend time together, but remember to maintain propriety, Su Shan.”
“You are the legitimate daughter of our Su family, so you must adhere to the traditional customs and rituals.”
“Grandpa, don’t worry. I understand all of that,” Su Shan assured.
Satisfied, Su Xi nodded. His granddaughter had never disappointed him.
After returning home, Qin Lang went to find his parents. “Mom, Dad, I have something to tell you.”
Qin’s parents exchanged a glance, surprised to see their son so eager.
“What is it?”
“I want to get married,” Qin Lang said directly.
Hearing this, Qin’s parents were taken aback. Qin’s mother even reached out to touch her son’s head.
“Alang, are you feeling unwell? What nonsense are you talking about?”
It was understandable for them to react this way. They had considered introducing potential partners to their son before, but he had claimed to be too busy with his studies. His older brothers already had children, so he didn’t need to continue the family line. Now, he suddenly came back and said he wanted to get married. Was he out of his mind?
Qin Lang removed his mother’s hand from his head with a stern expression. “Mom, I’m serious. I’m not joking with you.” How could he joke about something like this?
His mother was really something.
“Son, tell us which girl has caught your eye?” He had gone out for a while and now suddenly wanted to get married?
What kind of girl could make him so infatuated?
“I like Jingyu’s younger sister-in-law,” Qin Lang said, feeling embarrassed.
Qin’s father frowned. “The girl from the Su family in the capital?”
“Yes.”
“Can someone from a prominent family like theirs really consider someone from our background?”
“I asked Jingyu. Their requirements are simple: good character, treat Su Shan well in the future, be hardworking, and it would be even better if the family background is good. I meet all these criteria, and Su Yu is quite satisfied with me. I heard from Jingyu that if Su Yu agrees, then half the battle is won.” Qin Lang explained today’s events to his parents.
“What do you mean now? Do you want us to go and propose, or what?” Qin’s mother breathed a sigh of relief after hearing her son’s words. She had been worried that the person her son liked would be of too high a status, and he would suffer in the future.
“Not so fast. I just want you to help me prepare some betrothal gifts. I’ve saved all my pocket money with my older brothers over the years, and I have quite a bit of money each year. I’ll take out all my money, and if it’s not enough, I’ll have to ask you to help me make up the difference,” Qin Lang said, feeling a bit embarrassed.
Qin’s father had initially thought his son was joking, but now, hearing that his son wanted to use money to start preparing the betrothal gifts, he realized that his son was truly serious about getting married.
“Your money won’t be needed. Since your second brother got married, I’ve been preparing the betrothal gifts for you. Since the person you like is from a prominent family, we may not be able to provide the best, but we’ll try to ensure that they don’t lose face. I’ll take out some good items from my dowry for you. As for the money from your little treasury, keep it for your future. You’ll need it when you enter officialdom,” Qin’s mother said gently to her son.
Qin Lang felt grateful for his mother’s kindness. “Thank you, Mom.”
“Why be so polite with me?” It was good that her child had found someone he liked.
Qin Lang was reserved by nature. He had only had Luo Su as a friend before, but now he had a few more. However, he wasn’t enthusiastic about getting married. His mother had always been worried that he would end up lonely, but now it seemed that it just wasn’t the right time.
When the right time comes, won’t it be time to get married?
“But if you give me your dowry, won’t my two sisters-in-law have objections?” Qin Lang asked with a furrowed brow.
It wasn’t that he was speaking ill of his two sisters-in-law, but they were generally good, except when it came to these matters, they were quite particular.
“They have no say in my belongings. The family’s business has been handed over to your older brothers, and you only receive dividends. If they still have objections, they can just leave,” Qin’s mother said bluntly.
She knew that her two daughters-in-law were usually good, but when it came to matters concerning Qin Lang, they were particularly particular, always thinking about how much money she and her husband had given Qin Lang. They even had thoughts about her dowry, which made her very angry.
She had already spoken to her two sons about this. If they dared to delay Qin Lang’s marriage this time, she would deal with them.
“Mom, Su Shan is a very good girl. When you see her, you’ll definitely like her,” Qin Lang quickly changed the subject upon seeing his mother’s anger.
Hearing her son praise the girl, Qin’s mother couldn’t help but laugh. “You were unwilling to meet any girl before, and now you’re praising her.”
Qin Lang coughed awkwardly at his mother’s words. “Mom, Su Shan is really great.”
Qin’s mother was thoroughly amused, looking at Qin Lang’s father she said “Look at your son. He’s praising her after just meeting her for the first time today. A child takes after his father.”
“Mom, rest assured, both Su Shan and I will be filial to you and Dad in the future,” Qin Lang assured.
