“What’s the matter? Tell us,” Su Long said, pretending to understand the situation.
“My youngest son came to visit Jingyu’s house before and took a liking to Su Shan. What do you think of my son? Is he good enough for your family?” Family Head Qin found it quite difficult to discuss his son’s marriage. He even went as far as to belittle his own child.
Su Long couldn’t help but smile. “I think your son is quite good. Our daughter has been spoiled since childhood. To be honest, my wife and I have been worried that she wouldn’t find a match. Now that someone likes her, we’re more than happy.”
Family Head Qin was relieved to hear this. “While you and your wife are here, let’s discuss a date for the engagement. After that, we can go to the capital to formally propose. What do you think?”
Both families were straightforward and didn’t beat around the bush. They both liked the two young people, so everything naturally fell into place.
Su Xi, who was present, said, “Alright, you can choose the date.”
“Thank you, Uncle.”
“Don’t mention it. In the future, we’re all family. Why be so formal?” After the engagement was discussed, the two families were already considered relatives.
The Qin family couldn’t help but laugh. Indeed, they were all one family now.
Qin Lang had been chatting with Wang Jingyu and the others outside, but his mind was clearly elsewhere. He kept glancing inside.
“I’ve never seen you like this, Alang. Don’t worry, Uncle Su is a good person,” Wang Jingyu teased.
“I know, but I’m still a bit worried,” Qin Lang said. What if Uncle Su didn’t agree?
Seeing Qin Lang’s expression, Wang Jinhe couldn’t help but go inside to find out what was happening.
Upon entering, he overheard the two families discussing the engagement and Family Head Qin mentioning that they would go to the capital to propose in the future.
After learning the news, Wang Jinhe stayed inside for a while before leaving.
“How’s it going, Jinhe?” Qin Lang looked at Wang Jinhe with eager eyes, making Wang Jinhe feel uncomfortable.
“Don’t worry, Uncle Su has agreed. Both families have discussed the engagement, but the formal proposal will definitely take place in the capital, not here,” Wang Jinhe told Qin Lang.
Wang Jingyu patted Qin Lang’s shoulder and asked with a suppressed smile, “Feeling better now?”
“Thank you, Jinhe,” Qin Lang said gratefully.
“Don’t thank me. Just treat Su Shan well in the future and don’t bully her. As long as you treat Su Shan well, it’s more than enough,” Wang Jinhe said.
“I will.”
After the two families had finished their discussion, the Qin family prepared to leave. As they departed, Su Shan felt a bit reluctant to see them go.
After the Qin family left, Su Long spoke up, “Their family is quite nice.”
Both the parents and the two older brothers were good people. Su Shan would do well in such a family. As for their wives, they wouldn’t have much interaction with Su Shan in the future. After all, Qin Lang would be an official, and Su Shan would definitely leave with him, not staying at home.
The Qin family genuinely liked Su Shan, not just putting on a show because of their status.
“Afterward, their family will come here to formally propose, and the actual proposal will take place in the capital. When the time comes, we’ll see if the wedding will be here or in the capital,” Su Long said to his daughter.
“Father and Mother will decide,” Su Shan replied.
Looking at his daughter, Su Long smiled without pressuring her. He could see that during their time in Xie Village, his daughter had indeed changed. She had become more poised and considerate, no longer as reckless as before. It seemed that Su Yu had taught Su Shan well.
He was very satisfied with the result.
Looking at Su Yu, who was playing with Xiao Bao as if nothing had happened, Su Long smiled and said, “Xiao Yu, Su Shan has caused trouble for you here.”
Su Yu looked up at Su Long and frowned. “Su Shan is my sister.”
Su Shan had a good personality and was well-protected by her family. She was a bit naive, and Su Yu naturally liked having such a sister.
“If you say that again, Uncle, I’ll be angry,” Su Yu said, looking displeased.
Seeing Su Yu’s discontent, Su Long realized he had misspoken. ” Uncle won’t say it again.”
Su Xi glanced at his eldest son and said disapprovingly, “You know he’s family, and you still say such things. It serves you right for making Su Yu angry.”
The people around nodded in agreement. “That’s right.”
Li Yan couldn’t help but laugh at the scene. She watched her husband being scolded but didn’t get angry at all.
During the time she was kept by Li Yan, she thought she would never see her husband and children again. She never expected to be saved by Su Yu and be able to accompany her husband, and witness her children’s marriages. For her, that was already enough.
As the Qin family prepared to leave, Qin Xian spoke up, “Alang, you have a good eye. Su Shan indeed has a great personality, and there’s nothing to criticize.”
“Yes, Su Shan is a good match for you,” Family Head’s wife, Qin Lang’s Mother added. “I really like Su Shan.”
She had always wanted a daughter, but she had three sons. After her two sons got married, she wanted to treat their wives as her own daughters. However, her eldest daughter-in-law was too calculating, and her second daughter-in-law always kept her at arm’s length. After chatting with Su Shan today, she felt that Su Shan completely met her expectations for a daughter.
Su Shan is beautiful, has a good personality, and is well-protected by her family. She is a bit naive, but she is also quite knowledgeable.
“I told you Su Shan is great.”
“I know Su Shan is a good person, but don’t show off in front of us. After you go back, you can start preparing for the betrothal gifts. After that, we’ll have the formal betrothal ceremony. After you pass the provincial examination this year, we’ll go to the capital to propose and set the wedding date,” his mother considered the future and realized there was much to be done.
Qin Lang nodded happily. “Thank you, Mother.”
“Mother, how about this? I will go to the capital later to do some business. I will buy a house for Alang. In case he stays in the capital after becoming an official, he will have a place to live. Their wedding will definitely take place there. As for our side, we can have a ceremony in the capital and then have another one when we return, especially since Su Shan’s grandparents are here,” one of the brother suggested. This way, no one could object.
Their mother agreed. “That works too.”
Although it might be a bit troublesome, both sides of the family could take care of it, which was good.
“I and my brother will pay for the house and give it to Alang as a wedding gift.”
“You and your brother can discuss it, but make sure your wives agree. Don’t let them have any objections to Su Shan because of this,” Their Mother said, expressing concern about potential issues with her daughters-in-law.
