“Let’s not bring this up for now. Let’s see how things develop between them,” Wang Jinhe said to Su Yu.
Su Yu nodded. “I think the same. Let’s just let it be.”
Most importantly, Su Yu was concerned that bringing it up at this time might cause harm to Yuan Bao, as Qiuyi’s vengeful thoughts could hurt him, and that was something he didn’t want to see.
After spending some time outside, the two of them returned. By the time they got back, all the lobsters had been cleaned.
When Qiuyi saw them return, she couldn’t help but feel a little guilty. The young master had said not to let anyone help, so would he punish her now that Yuan Bao had helped her?
Knowing Qiuyi’s fears, Su Yu stared at her sharply. Yuan Bao stood quietly in front of Qiuyi, looking at Su Yu. The two of them had a silent standoff.
Wang Jinhe observed the situation, but chose not to intervene. She asked Qiuyi and Qiuchan to help move the lobsters to the kitchen. As Qiuyi left, she glanced back at Yuan Bao with a worried look. Would the young master really not be angry?
The young master’s expression seemed quite grim.
“Don’t bully her,” Yuan Bao said.
Yuan Bao’s words left Su Yu speechless. What did he mean by “bullying her”? He hadn’t done anything at all.
With a displeased look, Su Yu said to Yuan Bao, “You’re protecting her so much even though nothing has happened yet. If there really is something between you two, where does that leave my position?”
Yuan Bao’s eyes held a hint of amusement. For the first time, he felt that Su Yu was acting like a child, saying such things.
Su Yu seemed to realize that his words were inappropriate, and his expression turned extremely unpleasant.
“I’ll leave the Chang family’s matters to you,” Su Yu said suddenly, just as Yuan Bao was considering how to explain things to him.
Looking at Su Yu in astonishment, Yuan Bao asked, “Young Master?”
“She’s only thinking about revenge now,” Su Yu said, feeling frustrated. He was already annoyed, and now he had to explain things to Yuan Bao, which made him even more upset.
Hearing Su Yu’s words, Yuan Bao smiled and said, “Thank you, Young Master.”
Su Yu looked at Yuan Bao with disdain and didn’t bother to respond.
Meanwhile, in the kitchen, Wang Jinhe began preparing the ingredients. Once everything was ready, she started cooking.
The aroma attracted everyone before the dish was even finished. Wang Jinhe was about to serve the spicy crayfish when everyone arrived, including Yu Qingfeng and the others.
After teaching them how to eat, Wang Jinhe continued to prepare garlic butter crayfish and five-spice crayfish in the kitchen.
When she finished cooking, she found a pile of shrimp shells on the table, and the spicy crayfish was gone.
Wang Jinhe looked speechlessly at the empty bowl. Her favorite spicy crayfish was gone.
Seeing Wang Jinhe’s disappointment, Su Yu brought out a plate filled with peeled shrimp meat. “Here, have some.” Knowing that she had been craving crayfish, he had peeled a plate for her while everyone was scrambling for food.
Not only did the dish taste great, it would surely be a hit in a restaurant.
Wang Jinhe’s eyes lit up, and she said happily, “You’re always so good to me.”
“Mom, this is really spicy,” Xiao Bao and Xiao Zhi said with red mouths.
Despite the spiciness, the dish was delicious, and the two of them couldn’t resist eating it.
“This is the five-spice flavor, it’s not very spicy. You can try it.”
Chang Le happily grabbed a crayfish and peeled it herself. Although it was a bit of effort, she was still able to enjoy it.
“The food is delicious, Auntie’s cooking is the best,” Chang Le, who had grown accustomed to being here, said. Although she wrote letters home every two weeks, she still missed her parents.
Hong Yi stared at the crayfish with longing, clearly wanting to eat them.
Wang Jinhe served a bowl of shrimp tail porridge, made by cooking the shrimp tails and rice together. It smelled really good.
“You can’t have that, but you can have this,” Wang Jinhe said.
“Thank you,” Hong Yi said obediently, taking the spoon and eating by himself.
Wang Jinhe was very kind to Hong Yi, often making baby food for him and Gu Jiuning’s youngest son. However, when she said they couldn’t have something, both children would obediently refrain from eating it. Fortunately, in addition to baby food, Wang Jinhe also made many delicious snacks for them.
“Hong Yi is really well-behaved,” Wang Jinhe couldn’t help but sigh as she looked at Hong Yi.
He was much easier to handle than the little rascal in her own family.
“He is indeed very well-behaved,” obedient when he needed to be, and stubborn when he wanted to be.
For example, he insisted on sleeping with Xiao Bao and Xiao Zhi, and when Su Yu was teaching the three children martial arts and lessons, he had to be there to watch. If he wasn’t allowed to be there, he would cry loudly.
After observing for a while, Hong Yi would sometimes recite a few sentences of the content Xiao Bao and the others were learning, which left Su Yu feeling a bit helpless.
Especially in the past few days, when Hong Yi couldn’t walk steadily yet, as he was trying to practice martial arts.
When Su Yu first told her, she thought he was lying, but after witnessing it herself, she knew what was going on.
Not to mention, even though he was still young and couldn’t persist for long, he was doing it with great determination.
Su Yu pretended not to notice, but his participation stimulated the three children to take their studies more seriously.
This was something Su Yu was happy to see.
The spicy crayfish was delicious, and the garlic butter and five-spice flavors were also good. Even Yu Qingfeng, who had initially looked disdainful, couldn’t help but eat a lot.
Fortunately, there was plenty sent by Yuan Lin and the others. In addition to what the family ate, Wang Jinhe also left a lot for them. When they were eating, Yuan Bao and the others also had their share.
They managed to devour over a hundred pounds of crayfish.
Looking at the shrimp shells on the table, Yu Qingfeng smiled and said, “These things look scary, with shells all over, but I didn’t expect them to taste so good.”
“Xiao He, you said fish could be raised in the rice fields. Will it really work?” Yu Qingfeng asked curiously.
“We just need to adjust the surroundings of the paddy fields, but it’s more difficult to get the shrimp fry,” Wang Jinhe said, frowning.
“I’ll go find out, Madam,” Yun Lin said eagerly after hearing Wang Jinhe’s words. The taste of these crayfish was really good, and he loved it. If they could raise these crayfish themselves, the taste would surely be even better, and it would be more comfortable to eat.
Wang Jinhe looked at the enthusiastic Yun Lin and then glanced at Su Yu. “Your people are all foodies?”
Su Yu suddenly felt that his subordinates were a bit embarrassing.
“It’s nothing. Everyone likes good food. If we can get seafood in the future, I’ll make a seafood feast for you all to enjoy,” Wang Jinhe said.
Yun Lin became even more excited. “Madam, what is seafood?”
“It’s food caught from the deep sea in coastal areas, as well as items washed ashore after high tide,” Wang Jinhe explained.
“I happen to know a few people from that area. I’ll contact them and see if they can send us some,” Yun Lin offered.
“That would be great. If we have the chance, we can also go and take a look,” Wang Jinhe said.
