After leaving Gu Yanqi, Qing Yukong went to find Gu Xiruo. When he arrived, Lu Lingfeng had already left due to some urgent matter, leaving Gu Xiruo alone.
Gu Xiruo was contemplating matters related to the Qing family when she felt someone sit down beside her. Assuming it was Lu Lingfeng, she turned and said, “Lingfeng, why did you…?”
Upon turning her head, she saw Qing Yukong sitting there. Her smile faded, and she furrowed her brow. “What are you doing here?”
Qing Yukong had been watching Gu Xiruo the whole time and naturally noticed the change in her expression. “Are you so fond of Lu Lingfeng?”
“What’s it to you?” Gu Xiruo was already very impatient with the Qing family. Now, hearing this from Qing Yukong, she didn’t even bother to hide her irritation.
Amused by Gu Xiruo’s response, Qing Yukong suddenly reached out and pinched her chin, looking at her with a dark expression. “Have you forgotten that I am your fiancé?”
“What are you doing? Let go of me.” Gu Xiruo was startled by Qing Yukong’s sudden action.
Seeing Gu Xiruo’s fearful expression, Qing Yukong sarcastically laughed, “Is it because I’ve pampered you too much that you’ve started to think too highly of yourself?”
“Qing Yukong, let go of me.” Sensing Qing Yukong’s increasing grip, Gu Xiruo had a bad feeling.
As he looked at Gu Xiruo, Qing Yukong couldn’t help but wonder if he had been too indulgent with her, giving Lu Lingfeng the opportunity.
“I like you and I’m willing to cherish you, but you trample on my sincerity. It’s bad enough that you flirt with other men, but to treat me, your fiancé, like this for another man… Gu Xiruo, do you really think of me, Qing Yukong, as someone you can take advantage of?” As the young master of the Qing family, how could he continue to command respect from the family if he always acted this way?
Gu Xiruo had never considered this question. She struggled incessantly, realizing that Qing Yukong was dangerous at this moment. With no one around, as a young girl, she had no way to escape from Qing Yukong’s grasp.
As Gu Xiruo pondered her next move, a figure suddenly emerged and landed a punch on Qing Yukong’s face, causing him to fall to the ground.
Wiping his mouth, Qing Yukong turned to see Lu Lingfeng, who was helping Gu Xiruo up with a worried expression.
“Are you okay, Xiruo?” Lu Lingfeng asked, concerned. He had been truly frightened by what he had witnessed when he arrived.
Gu Xiruo looked at Lu Lingfeng blankly and suddenly hugged him, her voice trembling with distress as she said, “He scared me.”
Lu Lingfeng’s body tensed slightly, but he eventually patted her shoulder and said, “Don’t be afraid. As long as I’m here, no one can hurt you.”
Seeing the affectionate interaction between the two, Qing Yukong’s self-reproach vanished, replaced by sarcasm.
“It seems your feelings run deep, Gu Xiruo. Don’t forget that you are my fiancée. As long as I haven’t agreed to dissolve the engagement or cancel the wedding, you have to marry me, even if you don’t want to.” Qing Yukong had made up his mind. Wasn’t it Gu Xiruo who didn’t want to marry him?
He had indulged Gu Xiruo too much in the past, leading to her current mindset.
In that case, he would let Gu Xiruo know that a girl who had been promised in marriage no longer had the right to refuse.
“Gu Xiruo, I have let you be for five years. I didn’t force you to get married, and I let you do what you liked. But not this time,” Qing Yukong said before turning and leaving.
Lu Lingfeng furrowed his brow slightly, his hands unconsciously clenched. He couldn’t believe Qing Yukong was trying to force Xiruo.
It was only at this moment that Gu Xiruo realized that she had been able to act so arrogantly in front of Qing Yukong and even the Qing family because he had allowed it. Compared to the Qing family, the Gu family was now somewhat weaker.
Thinking about her actions in front of the Qing family and Qing Yukong’s previous words, she furrowed her brow slightly.
“What are you thinking, Xiruo?” Lu Lingfeng asked calmly.
“It’s nothing. Qing Yukong didn’t seem right just now, and I’m a bit worried,” Gu Xiruo said, furrowing her brow.
“Don’t worry, everything will be fine.”
Instead of being comforted, Gu Xiruo continued to furrow her brow. With Lu Lingfeng having severed ties with his family, he was now in a lower position than Qing Yukong. There wasn’t much he could do to help her in his current state.
Seeing Gu Xiruo’s silence, Lu Lingfeng looked down at her. “Xiruo…”
“Lingfeng, what if he insists on marrying me? Without the support of your family, you’re no match for him,” Gu Xiruo said, looking disappointed.
If Lu Lingfeng had the status of someone like Su Yu, she wouldn’t have to worry like this.
Lu Lingfeng didn’t say anything, but he had already formed a plan in his mind.
Unnoticed by them, a figure quietly left the courtyard.
Wan Feng was surprised to learn that the Qing family not only hadn’t canceled the wedding, but had even moved the date forward. They hadn’t even made a move yet, so who had beaten them to it?
After Wan Feng investigated the matter, he couldn’t help but feel a bit strange. He hadn’t expected the person who had taken action to be so ruthless. It was a case of sowing discord.
He pondered whether he should sow discord between Lu Lingfeng and Gu Xiruo. He was eager to see just how deep Lu Lingfeng’s love for Gu Xiruo was and whether it could withstand repeated deception.
Wan Feng wrote a letter to inform Su Yu of the situation and then began to arrange the next steps.
When Su Yu received the message, he was in the fields with Wang Jinhe, observing the rice plants that were beginning to form grains.
Looking at the plump rice grains that were about to grow, Su Yu felt hopeful. “The yield of the rice this year should be higher, right?”
“It will definitely be higher. Why else would I have planted it?” Was she planting it just for the sake of appearance?
