Chapter 492: Hitting the Nail on the Head

Wang Jinhe nodded knowingly. “Send her away. She’s already an ex-wife. There’s no need for further discussion here.”

“Understood.”

Wang Jinhe, accompanied by Yuan Xu, prepared to leave. Liu, realizing that the woman in simple attire was the County Princess, hurriedly blocked her path. “I know you’re the County Princess. I want to find my husband.”

Yuan Xu stepped in front of Wang Jinhe, preventing Liu from getting closer.

“Pan Ming has nothing to do with you anymore. It doesn’t matter where he is,” Wang Jinhe said coldly.

“No, he’s just angry for a moment,” Liu felt that Pan Ming was just angry with her. How could he be like this when he loved her so much?

“He loves me. How could he be like this when he loves me so much?” Liu insisted.

Wang Jinhe looked at Liu with a strange expression, finding her quite interesting.

“Love? Liu, have some shame. My brother did love you once, but look at how you treated him. You emptied his pockets and even tried to ruin my sister’s reputation because  you wanted to force her to marriy that useless brother of yours,” Lin Zixun said, clenching his fists in anger.

Seeing Lin Zixun’s anger, Wang Jinhe shook her head helplessly. “There’s no need to be angry, Zixun. A person with great ambitions should not show to much emotions, as it will only make your opponents aware of your intentions and put you in a passive position.”

This was what Su Yu had told her. The angrier one gets, the calmer one should appear. Only then can one’s true thoughts remain hidden.

“I understand, Madam.”

“Take your time, there’s no rush.”

“Understood.”

Liu, feeling disregarded by the two, became even angrier. “Just because you’re the County Princess doesn’t mean you can hide him from me.”

“What business do you have with him?” Wang Jinhe asked.

“I want to return to the Pan family and be a good daughter-in-law to my in-laws in the future,” Liu said nonchalantly, but her words lacked sincerity.

Wang Jinhe chuckled softly. “You’re quite amusing. You can say such grandiose words.”

“You’re not looking for Pan Ming because you regret leaving, or because you love him. Your purpose is simply because leaving the Pan family has cost you your former status in your own family. You were beaten to the brink of death, and now you want to reconcile with Pan Ming to regain your former status.”

“Of course, the biggest reason is probably to make your parents beg you, right?” Wang Jinhe’s words hit the nail on the head.

Liu couldn’t help but feel a bit guilty under Wang Jinhe’s gaze.

Subconsciously, she turned away, unable to meet Wang Jinhe’s eyes, but she still defiantly said, “You’re talking nonsense.”

“Whether I’m talking nonsense or not, you know in your heart. There’s no need to tell me. Pan Ming made it clear that if you came looking for him, he wouldn’t pay any attention to you. It’s clear that he doesn’t want to reconcile with you. Go back and don’t come here again. Since you’ve made your choice, don’t regret it. Yuan Xu, let’s go,” Wang Jinhe said, preparing to leave.

Liu never expected Wang Jinhe to be so ruthless.

“Stop right there,” Liu reached out to grab Wang Jinhe’s clothes.

Yuan Xu’s eyes turned cold. “Out of line.”

Wang Jinhe withdrew her hand and frowned at Liu. “If you continue to pester, you’ll spend a few days in jail to clear your head.”

“I haven’t committed any crime. Why would you send me to jail?” Liu protested.

“For delaying my affairs, for lunging at me, the County Princess. Why else?” Wang Jinhe was not one to use her power to oppress others, but at times, she didn’t mind asserting her authority.

“I just want to know where my husband is,” Liu said, sounding fearful. She realized that if she truly offended the County Princess of Fuan, she would be in serious trouble.

“Your husband isn’t here, thus there’s no need for you to come back. Since you made your choice from the beginning, don’t regret it,” Wang Jinhe said. She had heard from Lin Zixun that after Pan Ming came to study and work for her, Liu had called her brother to the Pan family. She had tried to tarnish Pan Ming’s sister’s reputation. She knew the consequences of ruining a woman’s reputation. How malicious were Liu’s intentions?

“By the way, if Pan Ming wanted to, he could have accused you of theft. He didn’t, so you should consider yourself lucky,” Wang Jinhe added, feeling that she had said enough and decided to ignore Liu.

Yuan Xu frowned at Liu, feeling some sympathy for Pan Ming’s sister. She was truly unlucky to have such a sister-in-law. Fortunately, Pan Ming had divorced her, preventing Liu from causing any further trouble.

“Madam, we should leave. We have an appointment with the magistrate,” Yuan Xu said, frowning at the time Liu had wasted.

“Alright. If she causes any more trouble here, have Qi Feng and the others take her to the authorities,” Wang Jinhe instructed.

“Understood.”

Wang Jinhe chose not to engage with Liu any further. She got into the carriage, and Yuan Xu drove them to meet the magistrate.

Liu looked at Lin Zixun. “As long as you’re willing to help me, I can assist you with anything you need in the future.”

“No need,” Lin Zixun said coldly.

She didn’t need Liu’s help before, and she certainly didn’t need it now.

“You can leave,” Lin Zixun added.

Liu watched as Lin Zixun walked away, her face darkening.

With the County Princess as Lin Zixun’s backer, she didn’t dare to do anything, but she wouldn’t just let it go.

She refused to believe that Pan Ming would never come home.

However, what she didn’t know was that once Pan Ming and his brothers arrived in the county, they became extremely busy with clients, fruit and vegetable prices, and various other matters. They were so occupied that they couldn’t leave and return home for the time being. Even if she wanted to wait for them at the Pan family, it would be futile.

Wang Jinhe didn’t pay much attention to Liu’s situation. Upon arriving in the county, she went directly to the magistrate’s yamen.

“Yuan Xu, go and inform Pan Ming about Liu’s situation so that he can be mentally prepared,” she instructed, to prevent any surprises in the future.

“Understood.”

After Yuan Xu escorted Wang Jinhe inside, he turned and headed towards Four Seasons.

When Yuan Xu approached Pan Ming, he seemed surprised. “Yuan Xu, why are you here?”

“The Madam and I came to see the magistrate. When we left today, we ran into Liu. She wants to reconcile with you. The Madam asked me to inform you so that you’re aware,” Yuan Xu explained his purpose to Pan Ming.

Pan Ming furrowed his brow instinctively, but soon he nodded in understanding. “I see. Thank you, Yuan Xu.”

He had known that Liu would come looking for him, but he hadn’t expected her to come so soon. He had overestimated her.

“You don’t seem surprised?”

“The Liu family’s husband and wife are not easy to deal with. They only have Liu Bao as their son in their hearts. As for their daughter, she’s just a tool. Since I divorced Liu, she can no longer take money and other things back home. Her status at home is naturally gone. Being beaten is the least of her worries, so it’s normal for her to come looking for me,” Pan Ming explained.

Yuan Xu was surprised by how clear Pan Ming’s insight was.
