The group all turned their heads at the same time, refusing to answer the question.
Wang Jinhe couldn’t help but laugh at their reaction.
Su Yu shook his head with a smile, allowing Wang Jinhe to tease them.
The others nearby seemed to understand. Their young master was indeed a devoted husband.
“Is it fun to be a devoted husband?” one of them asked.
“I think it’s quite fun, but you won’t have the chance to experience it,” Su Yu said, raising his chin and looking at them with a half-smile.
“After all, you’re all single and don’t even have wives. In my wife’s words, you’re a bunch of single dogs.”
The group gritted their teeth and said, “Let’s beat him.”
They all moved at the same time, and Su Yu raised an eyebrow, leading them to an open space.
It was the first time they had seen Su Yu like this, despite knowing him for so long.
Inside the house, Xiao Bao and Zhang Zhilin heard the commotion and ran out of the study. They saw Su Yu fighting with several unfamiliar people, and their eyes lit up.
Xiao Bao waved his little hand excitedly and said, “Daddy, go for it.”
“God father, go for it.”
“Woof, woof, woof,” their pet dogs also started barking, seemingly cheering for Su Yu.
The individuals who had been fighting with Su Yu almost stumbled to the ground and turned to look at a person who bore a striking resemblance to Su Yu, their eyes filled with surprise.
Before they could say anything, Su Yu punched one of them in the back.
“Are you daydreaming at a time like this? You must be very confident in your own abilities,” Su Yu said with a wry smile.
The person who was hit turned to Su Yu. “You ambushed me.”
“You were the one daydreaming. Who’s to blame?” Su Yu stood there, straightening out the wrinkles in his clothes.
“I only reacted that way because I saw your son. He looks just like you,” the person said, looking at Su Yu.
“Of course my son should look like me. Should he look like you instead?” Su Yu couldn’t believe the audacity of the person. How could they say something like that?
When they weren’t fighting, Xiao Bao ran to Su Yu excitedly. “Daddy, you’re the best, the very best.”
Su Yu reached out and lifted Xiao Bao, pinching his cheek. “Did you miss Daddy?”
“Yes, does Daddy have gifts for me, my brother, and my sister?”
“I do. I’ll go get them for you.” Su Yu went to get the gifts he had brought and handed them to the two children.
Just as Su Yu handed out the gifts, a wobbly figure walked out and hugged Su Yu’s leg. “Hug.”
The onlookers watched the child clinging to Su Yu’s leg. “Is this also your son?”
“Uncle, hug,” Hong Yi called out when he saw that Su Yu wasn’t picking him up.
Su Yu lifted the child and pinched his cheek. “Have you been listening to Auntie?”
“Yes,” Hong Yi nodded earnestly.
“Such a good boy.”
“Uncle? Is… is this the Emperor’s son?” The Emperor actually entrusted his son to Su Yu for upbringing?
“Uncle, you’re back,” a six or seven-year-old girl ran in from outside and happily greeted Su Yu.
As they looked at the well-dressed little girl, the group exchanged strange glances.
How did this guy manage to have the Emperor send his sons and daughters to this small village? Especially the young prince, being separated from them at such a young age, and they actually trusted him?
Regardless of what they were thinking, Su Yu reached out and ruffled Chang Le’s hair, a smile in his eyes. “Chang Le, you’ve grown taller.”
“Auntie also said I’ve grown taller. Will Father and Mother be happy when we go home for the New Year?” Chang Le asked.
“Of course, because our Chang Le has grown up,” Su Yu replied.
“Get ready. Later, I will test your studies and martial arts skills.”
“Okay,” Xiao Bao and Zhang Zhilin went to put away the gifts and prepare for Su Yu’s assessment.
“Xiao He, please inform them. I’ll go check on the three children’s studies,” Su Yu said.
“Alright.”
Seeing Su Yu about to leave, Hong Yi, unwilling to be left behind, said, “I’ll go too.”
“Alright, I’ll take Hongyi with me.”
After Su Yu left, Yuan Bao and Qiu Yi brought the wine.
As they looked at the wine in the hands of the two individuals, one of them spoke up, “Is this from the Madam for us to drink?”
“Yes, it’s quite potent, so don’t drink too much,” the other cautioned.
“Cai Ke, move aside a bit. Don’t compete with me.”
“It’s you who should move, Song Chen.”
Watching the two of them argue, Yin Fan took a barrel without hesitation.
As soon as he opened it, a strong aroma of the wine wafted out. Just from the smell alone, Yin Fan felt like he was getting drunk.
Initially, he hadn’t taken Wang Jinhe’s warning about the potency of the wine seriously, but now it seemed she was right.
After taking a sip, the taste made Yin Fan’s eyes light up. “This is excellent wine.”
The three individuals who had been arguing nearby also reached for their own barrels of wine after catching a whiff of the aroma. After just one sip, they felt their heads getting heavy. The wine was indeed very potent, even for those with a good tolerance.
If they drank a whole barrel, they’d be dead drunk. No wonder Su Yu only gives them one barrel a month.
“This is wine that has been aged for six months. The freshly brewed wine would be better. What do you prefer, this aged wine or the freshly brewed one?” Wang Jinhe asked Yin Fan and the others.
Yin Fan held onto his barrel of wine. “I prefer this one.”
Despite its potency, it was the best wine they had ever tasted. Even if they could only have a sip a day, they were satisfied.
After tasting this exceptional wine, they couldn’t go back to ordinary wine.
Cai Ke held his own barrel and muttered, “After drinking the wine brewed by the Madam, we won’t be able to appreciate other wines.”
Then, as if thinking of something, he looked at Wang Jinhe and asked, “Madam, can we buy some wine from you to bring back for our boss to drink?”
“How much do you want?”
“How much can you sell to us?”
“Others can only buy thirty barrels, but I can give you twenty more. However, I don’t have much of the aged wine left, and I can’t give you the wine that Su Yu has stored.”
“How long has the young master’s wine been aged?” Yin Fan asked curiously.
“Almost two and a half years.”
Yin Fan swallowed. “It must be even better, right?”
“Yeah, he’ll only open it when his child gets married,” Wang Jinhe shrugged.
Yin Fan and the others didn’t dare to imagine if the wine, aged for over a decade, would still be drinkable once opened. The aroma alone could be intoxicating, right?
“Don’t worry, this wine is intoxicating but won’t harm the body. It even has healing properties and is beneficial for any hidden injuries you may have,” Wang Jinhe reassured them, knowing what they were thinking.
“Is it really that good?” the group asked in surprise, holding onto their barrels of wine.
“How else do you think I can afford to sell a pound of wine that costs hundreds or thousands of taels of silver?” Wang Jinhe replied.
Yin Fan and the others were shocked by the price of the wine. They looked down at their barrels, each weighing three pounds. Just one sip would cost them several taels of silver.
“Madam, do people actually buy this wine?” they asked.
“Yes, the demand exceeds the supply.”
“Is the aged wine even more expensive?”
“The kind you have in your hands sells for two thousand taels per pound. However, we won’t sell too much of it,” Wang Jinhe nodded.
