Yuan Lin looked at the people who seemed so eager to intercept Wang Jinhe and hurriedly stood in front of her. “This is a small matter. Please don’t trouble our lady.”
After taking the two to Huang Qi’s place, Huang Qi was somewhat surprised to see Yuan Lin bringing them over.
“Who are these two? Why did you bring them here?” Huang Qi asked, puzzled.
“I was with the lady at the homestead. When we were returning, these two suddenly collapsed in front of the carriage and said they needed the lady’s help. The lady asked me to bring them here,” Yuan Lin shrugged and explained.
Huang Qi nodded in understanding and went over to check the pulse of the unconscious individuals.
As he looked down at the unconscious person, Huang Qi felt somewhat displeased. The person’s pulse was remarkably stable, nothing like that of someone who was sick and unconscious. It was even better than the pulse of some healthy individuals.
“How is it?”
“If he’s really sick, I’ll naturally treat him properly. Xiao Lin, go get my silver needle,” Huang Qi said expressionlessly.
The young girl beside him hesitated to speak, observing Huang Qi’s somewhat angry expression, and decided not to say anything.
Soon, the medicine boy brought the silver needle, and the young girl looked at Huang Qi holding the long silver needle and felt a sudden fear.
Her body trembled slightly, and just as she was about to speak, she saw Huang Qi plunge the long silver needle into the person’s body.
“Ah…” a scream rang out.
Yuan Lin scratched his ear and watched as the person, who had seemed on the brink of death just moments ago, suddenly sat up and pointed at Huang Qi, berating him, “What’s wrong with you? Do you even know how to treat people?”
Huang Qi raised an eyebrow, looking at the furious man with a smirk. “Aren’t you better now?”
The man’s anger froze on his face at Huang Qi’s words.
“Pretending to be sick in front of a doctor is not a good idea,” Huang Qi said, playing with the silver needle in his hand with a smirk.
“You… you…”
“How am I?”
It was Yuan Lin who took in Huang Qi’s words. “You’re saying this person was faking it?”
“Yes, his pulse is much better than that of other healthy individuals. How dare he try to deceive me? The pain won’t kill him,” Huang Qi said with a smirk.
Yuan Lin suddenly understood the purpose behind Huang Qi using such a long needle to pierce the person.
As he looked at Huang Qi’s calm demeanor, Yuan Lin suddenly felt that doctors were the most difficult and dangerous people to provoke, especially someone like Huang Qi.
Provoking him was akin to courting death, with no room for second chances.
“What is your purpose for appearing in front of our lady?” Yuan Lin asked the two individuals coldly.
The man grunted but remained silent, while the young girl fidgeted with her fingers as if she hadn’t heard Yuan Lin’s question.
Huang Qi narrowed his eyes and suddenly spoke to the man, “I’ll take this gentleman inside for a chat. You watch over here for me.”
“Okay.”
Yuan Lin didn’t ask Huang Qi what he intended to discuss with the man, but when he came out, he noticed that he had a furrowed brow and a look of disgust in his eyes.
“What’s wrong? How could he make Huang Qi, who is always so kind, so upset?” This person was quite something.
“They came for the lady. Their master’s intention is to win the lady’s favor by staging a hero-rescues-damsel scenario,” Huang Qi said. “Is their master’s brain not functioning properly? How could they even think of doing something like this?”
After speaking, Yuan Lin left. The young girl looked at his departing figure, her brow slightly furrowed.
She hadn’t expected to be exposed so easily. They had been so confident when they arrived, and now it all seemed utterly ridiculous.
Upon returning home, Yuan Lin went to find Su Yu, who was in the middle of a conversation with Yin Fan and the others. He spoke up, “Young Master, are you busy? I have something I’d like to discuss with you.”
Su Yu turned to look at Yuan Lin. “What is it?”
“It’s about the two individuals the lady encountered on her way back from the manor today.”
Su Yu had heard about this from Wang Jinhe. “What about those two individuals?”
“Their purpose was for the lady. Huang Qi learned from them that their master intended to use such a method of hero-rescues-damsel to win the lady’s favor,” Yuan Lin said, then carefully took a few steps back.
“What did you say?” Su Yu frowned and asked.
Yuan Lin cautiously recounted the situation, and then everyone watched as Su Yu broke off a corner of the rosewood table.
Yuan Lin looked at Su Yu’s angry expression and felt somewhat helpless. Even if these people wanted to court death, they shouldn’t involve them.
The young master was angry.
“Are they trying to steal my wife? Is that what they mean?” Su Yu asked the people around him.
Yin Fan nodded fearlessly. “Brother, that’s exactly what those people mean. They want to steal your wife.”
Su Yu sneered. “I’d like to see who’s not afraid of death.”
“Where are they?”
“Huang Qi has locked them up.”
“Yuan Lin, go and bring them here with Yuan Bao,” Su Yu ordered coldly.
“Yes.” Yuan Lin didn’t dare to delay for a moment and immediately went to find Yuan Bao.
Yin Fan propped up his chin and watched Su Yu’s angry expression. Perhaps only his sister-in-law and the little nephew could stir his brother’s emotions.
“What are you looking at? There’s nothing on my face.”
“I’ve known you for so long, but this is the first time I’ve seen you angry,” Yin Fan said.
Previously, no matter what happened, his expression was always calm, and he never seemed to care about these matters. Now, he was angry just because someone had intentions towards his wife. It seemed that his wife was the one person who should not be provoked.
“If you have nothing to do, go out and play,” Su Yu said.
Yin Fan was about to say something but was dragged away by Cai Ke and the others.
“Don’t you see that Brother Yu is already angry? Why are you adding fuel to the fire?” Cai Ke couldn’t understand what Yin Fan was thinking.
Yin Fan chuckled, “Have any of you seen him get angry before?”
“If you want to watch a show, at least hide your emotions and don’t expose yourself,” Cai Ke said impatiently.
Knowing that Brother Yu was already angry, why would he do something so foolish as to provoke him further? This guy didn’t seem to fear the consequences of his actions.
Before long, Yuan Lin and the others brought the two individuals back. Wang Jinhe was surprised to see them at home. They seemed somewhat familiar, as if she had seen them somewhere before.
“Su Yu, who are these two people?”
