As she watched the sudden intrusion, Gu Yanzhe’s brow furrowed slightly, his eyes filled with displeasure towards Gu Xiruo. “Who let you into my courtyard? Get out.”
Did this impostor really think she was someone important?
“Gu Yanzhe, don’t forget that I am your sister,” Gu Xiruo said with a cold expression.
Wang Jinhe’s brother was so good to her, so why was Gu Yanzhe constantly trying to oppose her?
“Sister? You, an impostor, dare to say that to me?” Gu Yanzhe sneered, showing nothing but disdain for Gu Xiruo.
Gu Xiruo was trembling with anger, feeling utterly humiliated. She had never been so embarrassed before.
She was now immensely grateful that there were no maids or servants around. If the others in the Gu family found out about this incident, she would lose all her status in the family.
“Even if you know everything, will anyone believe you? Even if you go to our parents and tell them I’m not their biological daughter, do you think they will believe you? They don’t even like Wang Jinhe. If you want them to know about these things, you’re being naive.”
“Do our twenty years of relationship mean nothing compared to that sister who only spent a month with you?”
After twenty years, Gu Yanzhe’s attitude towards her was still lukewarm. Now, he was actively seeking out Wang Jinhe and Su Yu, only to be stopped by someone in the end.
“How you obtained your status, do you even have a clue? Whether they will believe us or not, we’ll find out soon enough,” Gu Yanzhe said with narrowed eyes, looking at Gu Xiruo with a smirk.
Upon hearing Gu Yanzhe’s words, Gu Xiruo had a bad feeling. “What exactly are you planning to do?”
“You’ll find out in due time. And don’t assume the identity of my sister. You’re not worthy,” Gu Yanzhe said coldly, his impatience and disgust towards Gu Xiruo evident in his eyes.
It seemed like he really didn’t want to see Gu Xiruo at all.
Trembling with anger, Gu Xiruo stared at Gu Yanzhe and said with a distorted expression, “Even if you want to be a good brother, what difference does it make? I don’t care about your so-called brotherly affection.”
“It’s none of your concern, Gu Xiruo. If I were you, I wouldn’t lack self-awareness. Knowing that I dislike you and don’t want to see you, you still come to me and say such things,” Gu Yanzhe said, causing Gu Xiruo to look extremely unpleasant.
“Gu Yanzhe, do you think I wanted to come find you? You’re simply self-righteous and insufferable.” If she wasn’t worried about Gu Yanzhe causing trouble for her, she wouldn’t even bother with him.
Gu Xiruo would remember the humiliation she faced from Gu Yanzhe today.
After staring at Gu Yanzhe for a while, she turned and left.
Gu Yanzhe was truly asking for trouble, and if that was the case, she wouldn’t hold back.
She would definitely make Gu Yanzhe realize who the true heiress of the Gu family was.
For Gu Xiruo, the Gu family was her ultimate goal. Even with Gu Yanzhe as the legitimate heir, she didn’t take him seriously.
Back in her own courtyard, Gu Xiruo began to plan her next move.
One thing Gu Yanzhe said was right—Gu Sheng and his wife might not believe what he said, but others might. Even if they were reluctant to acknowledge Wang Jinhe’s status, they would eventually agree to let her return. Besides her identity as the Princess Consort, there was also the matter of the wealth and assets in Wang Jinhe’s hands.
Why shouldn’t those things belong to her? How much would she gain if everything in Wang Jinhe’s hands belonged to her?
The thought of the profits from the jewelry store she had entered that day excited Gu Xiruo.
The income from all her stores combined probably didn’t even match the earnings from one of Wang Jinhe’s businesses.
She was determined to claim all of these things for herself.
As Gu Xiruo indulged in her fantasies about Wang Jinhe making her wedding dress, her eyes lit up with excitement.
While Gu Xiruo was lost in her wishful thinking, Ming Wanning came to find Wang Jinhe.
“Wanning, you’re here,” Wang Jinhe said, setting down her needle and thread to look at her.
“Why do you have time to come see me today?” Ming Wanning had been very busy since her return. Her great-grandmother and cousin had reacted as if they had seen a ghost, especially her cousin, who was said to have been so scared that she sat on the ground.
“Seeing some people at home being so frustrating, my father said it’s not the right time to take action, so I can only cause trouble for my dear cousin. Apart from that, I can’t do anything else. Just thinking about it makes me feel so stifled,” she said, feeling aggrieved.
Naturally, she didn’t want to stay at home, so she had come out.
When she came to find Wang Jinhe, that woman had shamelessly suggested introducing Jinhe to them. Their audacity was truly remarkable.
“How were the daughters of the Yu family raised? And your aunt is also quite out of line.”
“I heard from my sister that when I asked Mr. Su to help me put the assassin in Yu Manxue’s room, it scared her so much. Not only did she have trouble sleeping for a long time, but she also fell ill for a while,” Ming Wanning said with great satisfaction.
“What was the purpose of their visit to you today?” Wang Jinhe asked curiously.
Ming Wanning was initially taken aback, but then couldn’t help but laugh. “As expected, you’re clever, Jinhe. The two of them did have a purpose for visiting my home today.”
“Oh? Do tell,” Wang Jinhe became interested.
“Yu Manxue’s purpose was to show off. The person my parents had approved for me to marry is now her fiancé, and they are about to get married. They came to invite our family to their wedding celebration.”
Of course, aside from the showing off, the underlying message was that she was of a certain age and still unmarried. Yu Manxue was being too arrogant and had offended her father.
“I wonder if she’ll be infuriated to death after you and my brother get engaged. What does her fiancé do?” Wang Jinhe asked curiously.
Ming Wanning felt a bit embarrassed when it came to Su Jiu. “I’m not in a rush for that.”
“Jinhe, what was that man thinking? How could he follow Yu Manxue to my home? You should have seen the change in my father’s expression when he saw that man!” It was the first time she had seen her father so angry.
“How could there be such foolish people?” Wang Jinhe couldn’t help but comment, despite trying to hold back.
Knowing that the Ming family head and others would definitely not welcome him, he still did such a foolish thing.
“I feel the same way, but it doesn’t matter to me. I’ll just quietly watch Yu Manxue put on a show in front of me, flaunting the jade bracelet she bought with a few hundred taels of silver.”
“That bracelet is quite nice.”
“It was a gift from that man.”
Wang Jinhe suddenly understood Yu Manxue’s intentions. She probably wanted to provoke Ming Wanning into getting angry and doing something to harm her, and in the end, it would be Ming Wanning who suffered.
“I know what she’s up to. She’s trying to provoke me into hitting her, isn’t she? But I won’t fall for it.”
