Ming Wanning glanced at Yu Manxue and shook her head. “I can’t help you with this.”
Having spent so much time together, she knew that Wang Jinhe was Su Yu’s beloved. Those who served Wang Jinhe were always extremely careful, especially now that she was carrying a child. Even though the child was fine, the situation was still serious.
Neither the Yu family nor their Ming family could bear this responsibility.
Su Yu had just returned home from the palace and learned that Wang Jinhe and Ming Wanning had gone out shopping. He had planned to pick her up later, but then Yuan Bao hurried in, “Young Master, the lady fainted and was brought back by Qiu Yi.”
“What? What happened?”
Yuan Bao shook his head. “We don’t know yet.”
“Find out,” Su Yu ordered, then returned to their courtyard with a stern face. When he got back, Wang Jinhe had been placed on the bed by Qiu Yi.
“What’s going on?”
Qiu Yi was frightened by Su Yu’s furious aura and quickly explained the situation, praying that the master wouldn’t involve them.
“Go and fetch Wan Gu,” Su Yu ordered.
“Yes.” Qiu Yi felt a bit relieved and hurried to summon Wan Gu.
Ming Wanning also briefed Su Yu about the situation with Wang Jinhe and Gu Xiruo. After hearing this, Su Yu nodded to indicate his understanding.
Qiu Yi soon arrived with Wan Gu. Wan Gu quickly took Wang Jinhe’s pulse, and after doing so, he felt somewhat relieved. It was fortunate that nothing serious had happened; otherwise, Su Yu would have been furious.
“How is Xiao He?” Su Yu inquired.
“Master, rest assured, the lady is fine, and the two children in her belly are also fine,” Wan Gu replied.
Su Yu looked at Wan Gu in astonishment. “You said two?”
Wan Gu nodded. “Indeed, it’s two.”
“Check Miss Ming’s hand.” He had noticed Ming Wanning rubbing her hand, probably injured while protecting Xiao He.
Wan Gu walked over and examined Ming Wanning’s slightly swollen wrist. He pinched it and, seeing her wince in pain, said, “Your wrist is dislocated.”
He then proceeded to reset her wrist. “I’ll get some ointment for Miss Ming to apply for a few days, and it will be fine.”
“Thank you.”
Su Yu sat by the bed, looking at Wang Jinhe. Her pale face fueled his anger.
“Tell the Ming family not to meddle in what they shouldn’t,” Su Yu said, turning to Ming Wanning.
Ming Wanning nodded. “I understand.”
She understood that not involving the Ming family was Su Yu’s utmost bottom line. Yu Manxue should never have done what she did, never have confronted Wang Jinhe.
“I’ll head back for now. I’ll come back to see her when Jinhe wakes up.”
“Okay,” Su Yu nodded.
Ming Wanning was not only his sister-in-law but also Xiao He’s friend. He naturally wouldn’t show anger in front of her specially when she protected Xiao He in the most dangerous situation.
Ming Wanning left with Ming’er, carrying the ointment given by Wan Gu.
“Miss, this time was too much,” Ming’er frowned.
“Yes, let’s go back and tell father and the others about this,” Ming Wanning agreed.
Upon arriving home, Ming Wanning went to find the head of the Ming family. “Father, no matter what happens, you must not agree to anything involving Yu Manxue and her mother in the future.”
“What happened?” The head of the Ming family asked in surprise.
“Today, when Jinhe and I were out shopping, Yu Manxue came and caused Jinhe to fall, leading to a disturbance in her pregnancy. When I left her, she was still unconscious,” Ming Wanning said solemnly.
The head of the Ming family frowned. “Is that so?”
“Yes, Qiu Yi and I did our best to support Xiao He, but she still fell. Yu Manxue should be grateful that Xiao He’s child is unharmed; otherwise, the entire Yu family wouldn’t be able to afford the consequences.”
“When I returned, Su Yu told me to inform you not to meddle in what you shouldn’t,” this was probably Su Yu’s biggest concession.
The head of the Ming family’s expression turned grim. Fortunately, the Emperial Prince didn’t hold it against them, or their Ming family would have been in trouble.
“Father, Xiao He is carrying twins,” Ming Wanning added.
The head of the Ming family’s eyelid twitched, and his expression turned grim. “This matter has nothing to do with us.”
“You’re right, Second Brother. It’s best for our family not to get involved; otherwise, the Ming family will be implicated as well.”
As both families were related by marriage and had a good relationship with the princess, the Imperial Prince Yu didn’t implicate the Ming family. There was no need for them to invite trouble.
“I have know what to do.”
Yu Manxue tearfully returned home and told her parents about the incident. She cried, “Mother, what should I do?”
Madam Yu never expected that Yu Manxue’s trip outside would bring back such a huge problem.
“How did you end up colliding with the princess?” Mrs. Yu asked, frowning.
She knew what kind of person her daughter was, and she didn’t dare to do such a thing.
Seeing Yu Manxue crying, Mrs. Yu frowned and said, “What’s the use of crying now? Think carefully about what happened, or no one can save you.”
Yu Manxue tried to calm herself down and, after careful consideration, spoke up, “When I tried to catch up, I felt my skirt being pulled.”
“Who was with you at the time?” Mrs. Yu asked, squinting.
“It was Gu Xiruo. At that time, she had just been punished by the princess and was slapped,” Yu Manxue replied.
Mrs. Yu poked Yu Manxue’s forehead and said irritably, “In the future, use your brain when you go out with others. Don’t end up being taken advantage of without even realizing it.”
Yu Manxue frowned at her mother. “Are you suggesting that Gu Xiruo set me up?”
Mrs. Yu gave her daughter a displeased look. “At least you’re not completely foolish.”
“Gu Xiruo has quite the nerve,” Mr. Yu said coldly.
“What should we do about this, Father?” Regardless of the reason she caused Wang Jinhe to fall, she will be held responsible for the incident but she didn’t want to invite trouble from Su Yu.
“Currently, the Ming family and the Su family are related by marriage. Why don’t you go talk to your elder brother? Ask them to mediate with the Su family and let this matter go, especially since the princess is unharmed,” Mr. Yu suggested to Mrs. Yu.
However, Mrs. Yu hesitated and said with a furrowed brow, “I’m afraid this matter won’t be so easily resolved. Previously, Xue provoked my second brother by poisoning Ming Wanning and sending assassins after her. Now, they don’t welcome us back, let alone help us.”
Mr. Yu was displeased. “It’s been so long, and they’re still bothered by that? They’re being too petty.”
The thoughts of Mrs. Yu and Mr. Yu were aligned. After all, Ming Wanning was unharmed, so was it necessary to be so petty?
“Regardless, we should still go and inform them. I’ll go with you,” Mr. Yu suggested after some consideration.
He couldn’t believe that even if he personally went to the Ming family, they wouldn’t give him this face.
Mrs. Yu nodded. “Alright, Xue, you’re coming with us.”
Yu Manxue shook her head repeatedly. “Mother, I’m not going.”
“You caused this mess, so you must go,” Mrs. Yu insisted.
