The way Su Yu spoke made it seem like she was being presumptuous.
“You really weren’t jealous?” Su Yu leaned in with a smile and asked Wang Jinhe.
Wang Jinhe gave Su Yu a sharp look. “Are you trying to make me jealous?”
Wang Jinhe warned Su Yu with her eyes. If he dared to say “yes,” she would definitely be angry.
Su Yu shook his head with a strong survival instinct. “How could I make you jealous? Of course not.”
Wang Jinhe nodded in satisfaction upon hearing this. “That’s about right.”
“If you dare to make me jealous, you’re in big trouble,” Wang Jinhe snorted.
Su Yu nodded lightly with a smile in his eyes. “I wouldn’t dare.”
“It’s quite lively in the capital this year, with the arrival of people from Ling empire and Qi empire, and the return of the four Vassal Kings. It’s quite interesting,” Wang Jinhe said, looking forward to the outcome of these encounters.
“King Zhenbei has already submitted a memorial to His Majesty, stating that the court must provide 300,000 catties of high-yield grain seeds for that region,” Su Yu informed Wang Jinhe.
After hearing this, Wang Jinhe furrowed her brows slightly, her eyes filled with displeasure. “They have quite an appetite. They’re not afraid of overdoing it and causing their own downfall.”
“We must control the distribution of high-yield grain seeds to King Zhenbei and King Yan’s territories, and ultimately, not provide them,” Su Yu continued. These two Kings already have military power, and if they have an ample supply of food and forage, it’s like helping them sharpen their knives to be held at Xuan Feiran’s neck.
Just last year, the issue with the Xie family was resolved, and they couldn’t afford to raise another, or even a third, Xie family. If they agree to this now, who knows what will happen later?
From the tone of King Zhenbei’s conversation with Xuan Feiran, it’s clear that he’s not a good person. Someone who dares to confront the ruler is clearly not taking Xuan Feiran seriously.
If the two Kings have an abundant supply of food and forage, it’s Xuan Feiran who will suffer.
“The grain seeds are in our hands. If we don’t want to give them, then we won’t. What can they do about it?” Su Yu said coldly.
“You’re right, but I think you should also have some people ready to prevent King Zhenbei from using unconventional means to take the grain seeds from us,” Wang Jinhe said, frowning.
“I plan to have Boss Chen prepare some people from Forget Sorrow City for me,” Su Yu said meaningfully.
Anyone from Forget Sorrow City is a skilled fighter who can take on ten opponents.
“That works too. But is it a bit of a waste to have them guard the grain seeds for us?” Wang Jinhe asked.
“No, they don’t have much to do in Forget Sorrow City anyway. Coming to help and enjoying good food and drink is much better than being in Forget Sorrow City, isn’t it?” Su Yu shrugged, indifferent.
Wang Jinhe agreed with a nod. “That’s true, but you should still inform His Majesty to avoid any misunderstandings.”
“What’s there to misunderstand? Both you and I can have a private army of a thousand men. It’s the same no matter who we ask,” Su Yu said nonchalantly.
He should have been prepared long ago, but he had thought there was no rush, especially with the situation in Xie Village. Now, after hearing Wang Jinhe’s suggestion, it seemed necessary to raise an army.
“Do I have that too?” Wang Jinhe asked in surprise, looking at Su Yu.
“Yes, you are personally appointed by His Majesty as a county princess, with a title and territory. As a county princess, you have the right to raise an army, but it’s limited to a thousand. If we combine our forces, we can prepare two thousand soldiers,” Su Yu explained carefully, knowing that Wang Jinhe was not very familiar with these matters.
Wang Jinhe nodded in understanding after hearing the explanation. “I see. Even so, you should still inform His Majesty.”
“Alright, I’ll go to the palace later to inform His Majesty. I’ll write a letter to Boss Chen first, asking him to send people to prevent any action from them,” Su Yu said after some contemplation.
“Okay, but we might have to build more houses again,” Wang Jinhe said with a look of concern, knowing that they would have more and more people under their command in the future, and the current houses would not be enough.
“It’s something to consider. It might not work if it’s too high, but four or five stories should be feasible,” Su Yu said, rubbing his chin.
“That’s good too. We can share a room, which will save some space,” Su Yu said. Although four or five stories might be too short for Wang Jinhe, it was better than just one or two stories.
“Do you have very tall buildings in your world?” Su Yu asked curiously.
Wang Jinhe nodded. “In our world, buildings with ten or more stories are considered short.”
“So tall? How are they built?” Su Yu asked in amazement.
“We have machinery and cement. For building foundations, we use concrete, and we also use reinforced steel. Cement is not only used for building houses but also for constructing roads. However, I don’t know how cement is made,” Wang Jinhe shrugged.
Upon hearing Wang Jinhe’s explanation, Su Yu felt a bit regretful, but he wasn’t too disappointed. “It’s okay. If we don’t know how to do it, then we won’t do it.”
“Aren’t you feeling regretful?” Wang Jinhe asked, looking at Su Yu.
“Of course, there’s some regret. But my Xiao He doesn’t understand these things, so what’s the point of feeling regretful? It’s better not to dwell on it,” Su Yu thought to himself.
“But I’m not too disappointed.”
Wang Jinhe nodded with a smile. “That’s true.”
If they could figure it out, they wouldn’t miss the opportunity. However, the problem was that she didn’t know the formula.
“Let’s not think about this. Just focus on resting well. As for other matters, your husband is here,” Su Yu said, not wanting Wang Jinhe to have to worry about these things while pregnant.
Wang Jinhe leaned back in her chair and grumbled, “I’ve been resting a lot lately, and I feel like my bones have gone soft.”
“Really? Let me check.” Su Yu said, taking Wang Jinhe’s hand and trying to put it in his mouth.
Wang Jinhe quickly pulled her hand away, glaring at Su Yu disapprovingly. “What are you doing?”
“I’m checking if your bones have gone soft,” Su Yu said confidently.
Wang Jinhe twitched her mouth, giving Su Yu a disdainful look and then fell silent.
A few days later, Qi Ming and the people from Qi Empire entered the capital. They were received by Su Jiu and the Prime Minister.
“Prince Qi, please.”
Not seeing Su Yu, Qi Ming furrowed his brows slightly and asked in a hoarse voice, “Where is Su Yu?”
“Xiao Yu naturally wouldn’t bother with these matters,” Su Jiu said calmly.
This statement made Qi Ming’s expression turn somewhat unpleasant. “He didn’t know I was coming?”
“What if he did? What if he didn’t? Prince Qi, don’t exaggerate the relationship between you and Su Yu,” Su Jiu’s expression turned cold.
Originally, he had intended to give some face, but who would have thought that Qi Ming really didn’t consider him an outsider.
“The relationship between this prince and him is not something you can question,” Qi Ming retorted.
