“So they teamed up to trick me, huh? Just wait, they won’t see their grandson in the future.”
If he still hasn’t figured out what’s going on, then he’s truly too foolish.
“Oh, by the way, I almost forgot about the important matter,” Su Yu slapped his forehead lightly, squinting at Su Jing, and said, “Using my connections to engage in smuggling private salt, Su Jing, have you thought about how you’re going to die?”
Su Jing’s face turned pale. Wasn’t he gone? How could he know everything?
“Second Brother, what are you talking about? Why can’t I understand anything you’re saying? Do you think you can achieve anything by using this kind of method?” Su Jing felt he had been very cautious in his actions, and there was no way Su Yu could catch him red-handed. He simply denied any involvement.
Su Yu looked at Su Jing, who was still pretending and denying everything, and sneered, “Su Jing, you really won’t admit defeat until you see the coffin, will you? Yuanbao, bring in the people.”
“Yes, Young Master.”
Soon, two middle-aged men were brought in, and when Su Jing saw them, his face turned completely pale.
How could this be? How could they have been caught like this?
Turning to Su Yu, he said, “I get it now. You’ve been plotting against me all along, haven’t you?”
Plotting?
“You think too highly of yourself. If we talk about plotting, I think it’s the old man who has been plotting against you more ruthlessly. Why don’t you go talk to the old man and see what happens next?” Su Yu looked at Su Jing with a playful expression. “Don’t forget, it’s not me who raised you to this position, but the old man.”
“Have you been enjoying yourself these past few years, showing off in front of me?” Su Yu found Su Jing’s near breakdown highly amusing.
It seems that this old man did a good deed, or else Su Jing wouldn’t have realized how arrogant he was.
“You…”
“All the evidence is here, and the amount involved in smuggling salt is substantial. Tell me, if I were to turn you in, what would your fate be?” Su Yu toyed with his fingers, asking with a smirk.
Su Jing looked at Su Yu, knowing that Su Yu meant business and wasn’t joking.
“Su Yu, you’re really ruthless. What exactly do you want to do?”
Lishi had only one son, Su Jing, to rely on. She had been strict with him over the years, rarely allowing him to make mistakes. However, this time, due to Su Qin’s actions, both she and her son had made an extreme mistake.
They had taken Su Qin’s favor seriously, and she even went to Yang Shanshan to flaunt it. Yang Shanshan must have looked at her with great sarcasm, thinking she was a fool to believe in such things.
Looking pale, she said to Su Yu, “Second Young Master, no matter what, Su Jing is your brother. If you really turn him in, it will bring shame to the Su family. Father won’t spare you either. Why don’t we just let it go? What do you think?”
“When did I get another brother? I have only one brother and one sister. As for another brother? Does that even make sense?” Su Yu looked at Lishi with a cold gaze. This woman was good at finding excuses for herself, making it sound as if he would become the family’s scapegoat if he did something like that. She was truly annoying.
Su Jing looked at Su Yu with a dark expression. “I’d like to see what you can do to me, Su Yu. Do you think you can rule the Su family singlehandedly now? Just because you want something doesn’t mean you can have it in the Su family. Have you forgotten that?”
When it came to the family’s interests, many people would speak up. Su Yu seemed to believe he could do whatever he pleased now in the Su family. He didn’t seem to realize that the Su family might not necessarily follow his lead.
“It seems like you’re quite confident in yourself, huh? We’ll see. I’ll inform my elder brother to come back, and I’ll prepare a special gift for him. Isn’t it the case that we have no leads on the private salt matter? Well, we have someone right here in our family.” Su Yu leaned back in his chair, his tone still irritating.
Yuanbao glanced sympathetically at Su Jing. Did this guy really think he could control the Su family after just a few years? He was seriously overestimating himself.
“By the way, before we continue, let’s gather Uncle and the others here. We need to have a clear discussion about what needs to be said. We don’t want anyone using the excuse of harming their own family members to persecute me,” Su Yu said, as if he had just remembered something important.
“Yes, Young Master.”
Soon, the head of the Su family, accompanied by the young master and other key figures, arrived.
“When did you come back, Xiao Yu? Dad told me you brought back some great watermelons. Why didn’t you send a couple over to Uncle?” Su Yu’s uncle asked.
“Well, Yuanbao, have you finished selling them? If not, bring a few here,” Su Yu said, glancing at Yuanbao, urging him to check.
Yuanbao had just returned and was already on the move again. Su Mingche hooked his arm around Su Yu’s neck. “You little troublemaker. You start causing a ruckus as soon as you come back, don’t you?”
“I really didn’t intend to cause trouble, but some people think too highly of themselves. If I don’t take action, they’ll assume I’m already dead,” Su Yu said, pushing Su Mingche’s arm away to free himself.
“Both of you, how many times have you let him off?” Su Mingche had no regard for Su Jing, seeing him as overly ambitious and always wanting things that didn’t belong to him.
“What can I do when our old man keeps favoring him?” Su Yu said impatiently.
“Speaking of that, Uncle, why isn’t Second Uncle here this time? Where did he go? Didn’t you inform him?” Su Mingche asked curiously.
It was worth noting that whenever Su Yu dealt with Su Jing, Su Qin would be present, making Su Yu, as the older brother, yield to his younger brother each time. This situation infuriated Su Qin.
“He left not too long ago,” Su Yu replied.
“Just left? What’s Second Uncle up to this time? Has he had a change of heart?” Su Mingche asked in amazement.
Knowing that Xiao Yu was going to confront Su Jing, Second Uncle actually left just like that? Was he really not going to support Su Jing anymore, or was he planning to give Xiao Yu a surprise attack?
“That’s your Second Uncle. Watch your words,” Su Long frowned and gave his son a stern look.
“Raising someone up only to bring them down at the right time,” Su Yu said with a smirk, looking at Su Mingche.
Su Mingche narrowed his eyes at Su Yu and then glanced at the uneasy Su Jing. “Second Uncle played this act with those people for four years, all for the sake of raising and then crushing them?”
Su Yu nodded. “Yes, he and my mother managed to deceive everyone.”
“Isn’t that absurd? Couldn’t they have used a different method? They chose this troublesome and ungrateful way,” Su Yu frowned.
Since their father had shown favoritism to this pair of mother and son, the three siblings had distanced themselves from him. Who would have thought that it was all a charade?
Su Mingche’s mouth twitched slightly. “Second Uncle and Second Aunt are quite something.”
