Wang Jinhe turned to Su Yu and said, “You seem to enjoy the excitement.”
“It’s more lively this way, especially during the New Year. It has to be lively,” Su Yu replied.
In the palace, Qi Ming looked at the person opposite him and frowned. “Is there really no way to completely detoxify?”
“I can’t do it, but Xing Qian can. However, he has been missing for a long time, and I don’t know where he went,” the woman opposite Qi Ming said, frowning.
“Does Xi Yao have any other methods?” Qi Ming asked.
Xi Yao shook her head helplessly. “I can’t do it. This poison is too tricky. I’ve already put in a lot of effort to find a way to suppress it. To completely solve it, we need Xing Qian.”
“There is someone in Su Yu’s hands who can detoxify me,” Qi Ming said.
Xi Yao looked at Qi Ming in surprise. “There’s someone who is on par with Xing Qian? In that case, you can talk to the Emperor of Xuan Empire.”
“By the way, don’t you know Su Yu? Why don’t you go to him and ask for the antidote from the person he has?” Xi Yao looked at Qi Ming with curiosity.
Since they knew each other, as long as the relationship was good, it shouldn’t be a problem to ask Su Yu for help. However, she hadn’t seen any indication from Qi Ming that he intended to approach Su Yu recently.
Qi Ming didn’t say anything. If it were possible, he would have already sought help. But Su Yu was currently uncooperative, and he also knew that the things Yang Shanshan and the others did were related to him, so Su Yu would be even less likely to help.
Rubbing his forehead, Qi Ming felt a headache coming on. What a mess.
“Have you fallen out with Su Yu?” Xi Yao asked.
Qi Ming didn’t say anything, but his expression confirmed it.
Xi Yao frowned. “This complicates things.”
“Why do you say that?”
“Do you know Nan Qiao?”
“The young prince of Nanjiang?” Why was she suddenly mentioning this person?
Xi Yao nodded solemnly and said with some helplessness, “Yes, it’s the young prince of Nanjiang. I saw him with a few people playing with two children on the street. He was very kind to the child, and the child looks exactly like Su Yu.”
Qi Ming’s heart skipped a beat as he looked at Xi Yao, whose expression was somewhat grim. “Are you saying he knows Nan Qiao?”
Xi Yao nodded. “Yes, Nan Qiao is a ruthless and cunning person. His witchcraft skills are even more powerful than those of the king of Nanjiang. The way he treated Su Yu’s son indicates that they have a very close relationship.”
Qi Ming’s expression darkened. He couldn’t believe that Su Yu actually knew the young prince of Nanjiang. He had never heard Su Yu mention any of this.
He had considered Su Yu a good friend, but was this how Su Yu treated his friends? Not telling him anything, not even thinking of introducing the people he knew to him.
Clutching his fists tightly, Qi Ming’s expression was very grim. “What a great Su Yu. I was so good to him before. I really shouldn’t have let Su Yu come back in the first place.”
Xi Yao looked at Qi Ming’s somewhat distorted expression and frowned. “I advise you not to provoke Su Yu, at least not until you can find a way to resolve this situation to everyone’s satisfaction.”
“Why?”
“Nan Qiao may look cute and innocent, but he’s actually a very difficult person to deal with. Especially with the creatures he controls, it’s hard to defend against them. You never know when he’ll strike, or what his next move will be. Once Nan Qiao loses control, no one can contain him. His status in Nanjiang is even higher than yours in Qi Empire.”
“I’ve received information that Nan Qiao is likely to be the next king of Nanjiang. If Nan Qiao were to target you, even Qi Empire wouldn’t dare to intervene. Compared to other countries, Nanjiang is the most mysterious and unpredictable. If you offend someone there, you won’t benefit from it.”
Qi Ming took a deep breath, feeling extremely frustrated. He never expected such a situation to arise.
“Thank you for the reminder.”
“I will help you because of the debt I owe you. But I advise you to investigate the relationship between Su Yu and Nan Qiao. If it’s strong, I suggest you halt all your plans against Su Yu. Otherwise, the consequences could be dire. Nan Qiao is ruthless, but he is fiercely protective of those close to him. He will stop at nothing to protect them,” Xi Yao warned.
Qi Ming remained silent but felt extremely frustrated. How could Su Yu be so lucky to know the young prince of Nanjiang?
“I understand.”
Regardless of Qi Ming’s reluctance, due to the uncertainty of Su Yu’s relationship with Nan Qiao, his plans against Su Yu had to be put on hold.
The next day, Su Yu went to the palace and mentioned Nan Qiao’s visit. Xuan Feiran naturally welcomed the news and instructed Su Yu to host Nan Qiao and his companions well.
A few days later, a person returned to the capital on horseback, covered in dust and dirt. It was Lu Lingfeng.
As soon as he arrived in the capital, Su Yu and Wang Jinhe got wind of it. Upon hearing the news of Lu Lingfeng’s return, Wang Jinhe was in high spirits.
“He is finally back.”
“Yes, he’s finally back.”
“He’s back, but has my sister returned?” Wang Jinhe asked Su Yu, thinking of Gu Xiling.
They had agreed to have Wang Gu show her sister around. How could she do that if she didn’t return?
Su Yu smiled and ruffled Wang Jinhe’s head affectionately, saying, “Don’t worry. You said you wanted them back, and I will naturally bring them back. They will be in the capital after the New Year.”
“That’s good. But the show is about to begin. I wonder if Gu Xiruo and Gu Sheng can handle it,” Wang Jinhe said.
“We’ll wait and see,” Su Yu replied softly with a smile.
Wang Jinhe nodded with a sly smile. “Good.”
Upon returning to the capital, Lu Lingfeng wasted no time in dealing with Gu Xiruo. Having supported her for so many years, he was one of the people she trusted the most. He knew many of her weaknesses, and she would have little resistance if he decided to act against her.
Lu Lingfeng acted swiftly and decisively, taking down three of Gu Xiruo’s most profitable shops within just three days. It was only at this point that Gu Xiruo learned of his return.
“What have you been up to? The three most profitable shops have already been taken over, and you’re only telling me now?” Gu Xiruo was furious.
These shops were all built up by Lu Lingfeng, so he naturally knew their weaknesses. If this continued, she would lose her businesses.
“Miss, what should we do now?” Gu Xiruo’s maid was also worried and somewhat resentful towards Lu Lingfeng. What was he trying to achieve? If Miss hadn’t saved his life, would he have abandoned her?
Now he was targeting her shops, acting like a downright ungrateful person.
