“I’ll go see him.”
Gu Xiruo went with her maid to find Lu Lingfeng at his residence. When the servant informed Lu Lingfeng that Gu Xiruo was there to see him, he was not surprised at all. If Gu Xiruo hadn’t come, that would have been surprising.
“Let her in.”
When Gu Xiruo entered, she saw Lu Lingfeng sitting in a chair with a glass of wine, his expression indifferent as if she were a stranger.
In the past, Lu Lingfeng had treated her like a treasure, but now he was acting this way, which Gu Xiruo found hard to accept.
“Why are you doing this? Was all your kindness to me over the years fake?” Gu Xiruo questioned, feeling that Lu Lingfeng’s behavior was an attempt to destroy her.
As Lu Lingfeng looked at Gu Xiruo’s questioning expression, he suddenly felt a sense of irony and absurdity.
“Who are you to question me, Gu Xiruo? Do you have the right to question me? Are you worthy?” For the first time, Lu Lingfeng found Gu Xiruo utterly repulsive.
As Gu Xiruo looked at Lu Lingfeng in this state, it was as if she saw Wang Jinhe looking down on her and questioning her worth.
Clutching her fists tightly, Gu Xiruo stared at Lu Lingfeng and asked, “Why are you doing this?”
“Do you have no idea why I’m doing this? You caused Ling’er to end up like that. She has to spend her life in a wheelchair and can’t even get married. Why do you think I’m doing this?”
“Gu Xiruo, I always thought you were a very innocent girl. Now I see how ruthless you truly are. I underestimated you when you were just nine years old and capable of such things. I’ve always liked the innocent and harmless you in front of me,” Lu Lingfeng said. When the truth came to light, he regretted not seeing it sooner. He couldn’t believe he had mistaken even his savior.
“Lu Lingfeng, does our many years of affection mean nothing compared to Gu Xiling? Can you really turn a blind eye to all the kindness I’ve shown you over the years?” Gu Xiruo asked angrily.
Upon hearing Gu Xiruo’s questioning, Lu Lingfeng suddenly began to seriously consider how good Gu Xiruo had been to him and what she had done for him. However, after thinking for a long time, he realized that he didn’t actually know what good things Gu Xiruo had done for him, nor did he understand in what ways she had been good to him.
“Was your kindness to me about making me buy your favorite food even when I was sick, or making me handle business for you after days without rest? Or was it about throwing tantrums whenever I did something that didn’t please you?” Lu Lingfeng asked mockingly.
Why had he thought that Gu Xiruo had been good to him all these years? Did he have a masochistic tendency or something?
Gu Xiruo’s expression stiffened, feeling extremely embarrassed. Lu Lingfeng had gone too far, making it impossible for her to save face.
“Must you speak to me like this, Lu Lingfeng?” Unable to refute Lu Lingfeng’s words, Gu Xiruo could only look at him and ask, displeased.
Here we go again. Every time she threw a tantrum, she would say such things. He must have had vision problems to think she was so good and cute. What was wrong with him?
Gu Xiruo seemed to ignore Lu Lingfeng’s expression and continued, “If you apologize to me now, I’ll forgive you.”

“Leave. Don’t come back. I will destroy as much of your wealth as I’ve earned for you. I won’t stop until it’s all gone. You can leave now,” Lu Lingfeng said, showing her out directly.
Gu Xiruo had been waiting for Lu Lingfeng to apologize to her, but instead, he said something like that. Where was she supposed to put her face?
“Lu Lingfeng, I’ll say it one last time. Apologize to me.”
“Get lost.”
It’s really a bad habit that Gu Xiruo has been indulged in. Who does she think she is to dare to speak like that? She really thinks too highly of herself. Giving her a last chance to apologize.
Gu Xiruo was shocked by Lu Lingfeng’s words. She couldn’t believe it. “You dare to speak to me like that? Lu Lingfeng, I won’t forgive you.”
Lu Lingfeng, feeling irritated, rubbed his forehead. He felt like strangling her every time he saw her.
“Throw her out,” he said.
Naturally, Gu Xiruo didn’t want to be thrown out. She looked at Lu Lingfeng’s expression of disgust and impatience and said, “Lu Lingfeng, you will regret this. Even if you beg me in the future, I won’t forgive you.”
Lu Lingfeng really wanted to know what was going on in this woman’s head. He used to think she was quite clever, but now she seemed like a complete idiot. A brainless one at that.

After leaving Lu Lingfeng’s house, Gu Xiruo didn’t go home but went to find Lou Manqing.
“What did you say?” Gu Xiruo looked at the shop assistant with disbelief in her eyes.
He just said that Lou Manqing had already left?
How could that be?
“How is that possible? If he left, how could he not have told me before leaving?” Gu Xiruo refused to believe that Lou Manqing had already left.
The shop assistant frowned and said to Gu Xiruo, somewhat displeased, “Miss Gu, I have no reason to lie to you. He left yesterday.”
“It’s almost the New Year. How could he not go home for the holidays?”
Gu Xiruo still couldn’t believe it. After Lou Manqing left the capital, she had no idea where to find him. Now was the time when she needed his help the most, and he just left without a word, showing no concern for her.
This realization made Gu Xiruo’s expression somewhat grim.
This was the first time she felt completely helpless in front of a man.
Clutching her fists tightly, Gu Xiruo’s eyes were filled with resentment. Damn Lu Lingfeng, damn Lou Manqing.
With Lou Manqing gone, she couldn’t just sit and wait. She had to seek help from others, or else everything she had would truly be taken away by Lu Lingfeng.
After she left, Lou Manqing emerged from the corner, still holding a folding fan. “It’s a pity that the beauty is angry. It’s a shame I didn’t get to see it in person.”
