When Qing Yukong’s parents learned that Gu Xiruo had finally agreed to the marriage, they breathed a sigh of relief.
If Gu Xiruo hadn’t agreed, they would have had to break off the engagement.
“Now that she has agreed, let’s pick a date for the wedding,” Qing Yukong’s mother said.
“Thank you. I appreciate your help with this,” Qing Yukong replied.
After discussing the matter with his parents, Qing Yukong returned to his courtyard and saw Gu Xiruo, who appeared worried with a slight frown on her face.
“Are you still thinking about the shops?” he asked.
Gu Xiruo nodded, expressing her helplessness. “Regardless, those are my hard-earned assets. I can’t help but feel unwilling to see them destroyed.”
Qing Yukong nodded in agreement. He knew a little about what Gu Xiruo had in her possession.
“Don’t worry, I will help you,” Qing Yukong reassured her.
“But Lu Lingfeng is very powerful. I’m afraid that it will cause trouble for you,” Gu Xiruo hesitated.
“There won’t be any problem.”
Seeing Qing Yukong’s assurance, Gu Xiruo naturally didn’t say much more. Why would she refuse help from someone willing to assist her?
After confirming that Qing Yukong would help her, Gu Xiruo stayed for a while before leaving.
When she returned home, Gu Xiruo was summoned by Gu Sheng. “Xiruo, what’s going on between you and Lu Lingfeng?”
Gu Xiruo was surprised by Gu Sheng’s sudden question. “Father, why are you asking about this all of a sudden?”
Gu Sheng looked at his daughter earnestly and said, “Since yesterday, our family’s assets have been under attack. After I had someone investigate, everything pointed to Lu Lingfeng.”
Gu Xiruo’s expression changed slightly. “He actually targeted our family as well?”
“I will handle this matter, Father. Please don’t worry,” Gu Xiruo didn’t want Gu Sheng to know about her own situation, as it would only cause more trouble if he did.
Gu Sheng nodded. “If there’s anything, just let me know.”
Gu Xiruo forced a smile. “I understand, Father.”
Back in her courtyard, Gu Xiruo smashed many things. Damn Lu Lingfeng.
Over the years, she had indeed placed too much trust in Lu Lingfeng, which had led to such a situation.
Taking a deep breath, Gu Xiruo called for her personal maid. “Xiaohuan, I have something for you to do.”
“Yes, Miss.”
After giving her instructions, Gu Xiruo’s mood improved slightly.
However, Gu Xiruo did not realize that this was just the beginning.
Before the New Year, Xuan Feiran hosted a banquet in the palace. On New Year’s Eve, Su Yu and his wife, along with Nan Qiao along the two brothers, went to the palace.
At the palace gates, they ran into Qi Ming.
Seeing Su Yu and his wife, Qi Ming was not surprised at all. He looked very self-assured, and Su Yu understood that it was intentional.
It seemed that he had checked their information and then orchestrated this coincidental encounter.
“Su Yu, what a coincidence. Shall we go in together?”
Su Yu glanced at Qi Ming and calmly said, “No need. I am not familiar with Prince Qi.”
Qi Ming’s expression turned sour. “Su Yu.”
“I have something to discuss with the Emperor, so I won’t be going in with Prince Qi,” Su Yu said, then left with Wang Jinhe.
Xiao Bao and Xiao Zhi followed the two, while Nan Qiao looked Qi Ming up and down before turning to follow Su Yu, leaving Qi Ming behind.
Seeing Nan Qiao leave with Su Yu, Qi Ming couldn’t help but think of what Xiyao had said. Su Yu and Nan Qiao had a good relationship, and he couldn’t lay a hand on Su Yu.
It seemed that Su Yu was keeping something from him.
After catching up to Su Yu, Nan Qiao spoke up, “Brother Yu, this person has ill intentions.”
Su Yu nodded. “I am well aware.”
After hesitating for a moment, Luo Hou asked, “Brother Yu, why do you keep letting Qi Ming off the hook?”
Given Su Yu’s methods, it would be quite simple to get rid of Qi Ming if he wanted to. However, Su Yu seemed to have no intention of doing so and was instead guiding Qi Ming.
“I have suffered too much. He needs to experience what he intended to do to me. Only then will it be fair,” Su Yu had indeed been guiding Qi Ming since he decided to deal with him.
Not taking action against Qi Ming was partly because he didn’t want him to die in Xuan Empire, and partly because of the pain from his past life. It was time for him to make amends in this lifetime.
Upon hearing Su Yu’s words, Wang Jinhe couldn’t help but feel a bit worried. “Su Yu…”
“Let’s go.”
“Okay.”
When they arrived at the banquet hall, there were various raw ingredients on the table, as well as a small charcoal stove. On top of the stove was a soup pot, and the soup inside was already boiling, filling the hall with a delightful aroma.
The ministers who had arrived were curious about how to eat the food. However, some officials from Ling Empire expressed dissatisfaction, saying, “Is this how Xuan Empire treats its guests?”
They were serving uncooked food to guests. Was this the hospitality of Xuan Empire?
“You’re just ignorant. This is called hot pot,” Xiao Bao’s voice echoed in the hall.
The ministers of Xuan Empire coughed lightly. Well, it seemed they had also become part of the ignorant group.
“Xiao Bao, you’re here.” Some ministers’ children had also come to attend the palace banquet and hurried over to greet Xiao Bao and the others.
Several children played together, but the Ling Empire official who had been teased by Xiao Bao earlier had a displeased look on his face. He glared at Xiao Bao with malice in his eyes.
“Do you have a problem with Xiao Bao?” Nan Qiao pointed at the official.
The official was about to say something when he saw Nan Qiao. His appearance was all too familiar. This person was actually…
“I have met the young prince.”
Glancing at the official across from him, Nan Qiao snorted, “Our Xiao Bao is not someone like you can casually talk about. If you have nothing to say, then keep your mouth shut.”
The official’s face turned from green to purple, and in the end, he dared not say anything, sitting there feeling aggrieved.
Meanwhile, Ling Xiaoye narrowed his eyes and asked Nan Qiao, “What are you doing here, Nan Qiao?”
Ignoring Ling Xiaoye, Nan Qiao stood by and watched Xiao Bao and his brother play with the other children.
“Is this your relative, Xiao Bao? He’s amazing,” a young companion of Xiaobo Aoyu approached Xiao Bao and whispered in his ear.
Xiao Bao’s eyes lit up, nodding repeatedly. “Yes, he is. Uncle Nan Qiao is amazing. He has many cute bugs. Next time you come to my house, I’ll let you play with them.”
Those who recognized Nan Qiao’s identity had a change in their expressions upon hearing Xiao Bao’s words.
Someone actually said that the young prince’s bugs were cute? Not only that, but also offered to let others play with them?
It seemed that the son of Imperial Prince Yu was fearless. He dared to play with bugs.
When Qi Ming walked in and heard Xiao Bao’s words, his footsteps paused slightly. His gaze fell on Xiao Bao, and seeing the bright look in his eyes, Qi Ming frowned. It seemed that this child had quite a few bugs on him. Dealing with him would require a different approach.
