Chapter 604: A Favor to Ask

“Please, have them come in,” Su Yu said casually, without even looking up.

“At the very least, they are representatives from the Qi Empire and Ling Xiaoye. You should show them some respect,” Wang Jinhe said, shaking his head helplessly.

His indifferent attitude indicated that he had something to say.

“There’s no one else here,” Su Yu said.

Wang Jinhe didn’t continue, and instead, he saw the representatives from Ling Xiaoye and the Qi Empire approaching. “Please, have a seat.”

“Thank you, Your Highness,” the Qi Empire’s minister was quite polite, but Ling Xiaoye seemed somewhat indifferent.

Leaning on his chin, he looked at the two and asked, “What brings you to see me, Your Highness?”

“Why ask such a question, Your Highness? You should be well aware of why we are here,” Ling Xiaoye said, frowning.

“Oh? Should I be aware of something?” Su Yu pretended to be clueless as he looked at Ling Xiaoye.

The minister from the Qi Empire remained silent, observing Su Yu and Ling Xiaoye, but he was already calculating in his mind.

It seems that they may not have a chance to obtain high-yield grain seeds from Xuan Empire. Moreover, it appears that Prince Yu has some enmity with Prince Qi, which complicates matters for them.

“How can we acquire high-yield grain seeds from you?” the minister from the Qi Empire inquired.

“And who are you?” Su Yu asked.

“I am Yue Zecheng, the Prime Minister of Qi,” the minister replied.

Su Yu nodded in acknowledgment, but didn’t say anything further.

Yue Zecheng looked at Su Yu, wondering what he meant by this.

Seeing Yue Zecheng staring at him, Su Yu raised an eyebrow and asked, “Is there something you need?”

“Prince Yu, we have come with sincerity,” Yue Zecheng said.

“Oh, I see,” Su Yu responded, but did not engage further.

Yue Zecheng felt helpless, knowing that they would return empty-handed this time.

“Su Yu, your attitude is a bit too much,” Ling Xiaoye looked at Su Yu disapprovingly.

Su Yu nodded indifferently, “Yes, you are now in need of my help.”

Yue Zecheng smiled inwardly, realizing that they were indeed seeking a favor from the Prince and Princess. It would be better to keep a low profile. So what if the Prince and Princess had a high-handed attitude? They possessed high-yield grain seeds, something that others could only dream of.

“You…” Ling Xiaoye found himself unable to argue with Su Yu. He knew that Su Yu was right; they did indeed need his help.

“How can we purchase the goods from you?” Ling Xiaoye asked.

“I don’t need money. Didn’t Ling Xiaochen tell you last year when he returned? I said that within ten years, I wouldn’t give Ling Empire a single grain of my family’s grain, even if it were to rot,” Su Yu said playfully, looking at Ling Xiaoye.

Ling Xiaoye frowned, realizing that his good elder brother had not informed them about this matter.

Seeing Ling Xiaoye’s reaction, Su Yu understood, “It seems he didn’t tell you. What a pity.”

“What happened at that time?” Yue Zecheng asked curiously.

How did Ling Xiaoye provoke Prince Yu? To make Prince Yu say such words, that he wouldn’t provide grain to Ling Empire for ten years, was a big problem.

“Knowing that my wife has a husband and a son, they still wanted her to marry into their family. Do they think I’m dead?” Su Yu said coldly with a sneer.

Yue Zecheng turned to look at Ling Xiaoye, and seeing his cracked expression, he coughed lightly. Ling Xiao chen was indeed a talented individual.

No wonder Prince Yu could say such things; the enmity of taking a wife was irreconcilable.

“The Crown Prince of Ling Empire is quite interesting,” Yue Zecheng said with a low chuckle.

Ling Xiaoye felt that he had lost all face. Ling Xiaochen, that useless person, dared to say anything and dared to snatch anyone, without considering who the other party was.

“We didn’t know about this. We apologize to the Prince here,” Ling Xiaoye said insincerely.

“Oh, I decline,” Su Yu said nonchalantly.

Since you have no shame, I won’t give you the satisfaction of seeing who ends up embarrassed.

Ling Xiaoye struggled to maintain his composure, while Yue Zecheng almost burst out laughing.

The Prince of Xuan Empire was indeed an interesting character.

“Su Yu, you…” Ling Xiaoye was taken aback by Su Yu’s lack of respect. After all, he was just a prince from another family, yet he dared to act this way.

“If there’s nothing else, you may leave. Yuan Bao, please see our guests out,” Su Yu stood up, preparing to leave.

Ling Xiaoye hadn’t expected Su Yu to leave like this. Instinctively, he reached out to grab Su Yu, but Su Yu dodged his grasp.

Turning to face Ling Xiaoye, Su Yu narrowed his eyes, “Is the Prince of Ling  intending to fight me?”

“That was something Ling Xiaochen did, and it has nothing to do with us,” Ling Xiaoye said, looking at Su Yu.

That was just the act of someone who was more trouble than they were worth.

Due to the powerful influence of his mother’s family, he managed to seize the position of the Crown Prince.

“He is the Crown Prince of Ling Empire, and it seems that he represents Ling Empire better than you do,” Su Yu’s words were matter-of-fact, but they also left Ling Xiaoye feeling resentful.

Clearly, the position of Crown Prince should have been his, but in the end, he lost out on it.

Yue Zecheng gave Ling Xiaoye a meaningful look, indicating that this prince might not be as clever as others had claimed.

“Cooperating with us would benefit you and Xuan Empire. Are you really not going to consider it?” Ling Xiaoye asked Su Yu earnestly, suppressing his dissatisfaction.

Su Yu shook his head coldly, “There’s no need to sugarcoat it. You know better than anyone who would benefit from this.”

Ling Xiaoye’s expression stiffened for a moment. Su Yu was right; if he could secure a cooperation with Xuan Empire and obtain high-yield grain seeds, it would be even more beneficial for him.

After returning, he could also pin the blame on Ling Xiaochen. But even if he couldn’t make the purchase, it didn’t matter. He could easily shift all the responsibility onto Ling Xiaochen.

After all, it was Ling Xiaochen who had needlessly provoked the other party.

He believed that the Emperor would be very pleased with this turn of events.

Looking at Ling Xiaoye’s expression, Su Yu had already guessed what he was up to. However, the internal strife within Ling Empire had little to do with him.

“You don’t need to come to me for the high-yield grain seeds. I won’t sell them to you. It’s useless for anyone to discuss this matter,” Su Yu said coldly, looking at the two.

Yue Zecheng didn’t want to miss this opportunity. Although he already had an answer in mind, he still spoke up, “Prince Yu, I wonder if there is a chance for Qi Empire…”

“There isn’t,” Su Yu interrupted.

Yue Zecheng knew that Su Yu definitely wouldn’t provide them with the grain seeds, but he hadn’t expected Su Yu to be so definitive.

“Your Highness…”

“I have a feud with the Prince of Qi in your country. Perhaps there will be an opportunity for cooperation in the future, but definitely not now,” Su Yu said coldly.

Yue Zecheng furrowed his brow slightly, wondering about the meaning behind Su Yu’s words. Did he mean to say that as long as Qi Ming was around, there would be no cooperation with Qi Empire? That he wouldn’t sell grain seeds to Qi Empire?

“Prime Minister Yue, is your country discussing an attack on Xuan Empire?” While Yue Zecheng pondered the meaning behind Su Yu’s words, Su Yu suddenly asked.

Yue Zecheng’s heart skipped a beat, and he looked sharply at Su Yu. How did he know?

“I’m curious how I found out? Perhaps you are underestimating me,” Su Yu said with a cold smile.
