Xie Yu was startled by the sudden turn of events and turned to see Xiao Bao being held in the arms of a man who looked very much like him.
Yuan Bao, along with Wang Jinhe, followed, and they saw Su Yu pinching the neck of the child. Wang Jinhe was shocked and quickly ran over, reaching out to grab Su Yu’s arm. “Su Yu, please release the child first.”
Su Yu frowned at Wang Jinhe. “No one should insult you or Xiao Bao.”
“They will regret it in the future. It’s not worth it for someone like them. Please let go for now,” Wang Jinhe quickly understood Su Yu’s intention.
She knew that Su Yu felt guilty for the harm she and her son had suffered over the years. Hearing such remarks would certainly anger him, but it wasn’t right to harm someone else’s child.
“There are plenty of ways to seek revenge; there’s no need to involve yourself. Please, let go quickly,” Wang Jinhe could feel the tension in Su Yu’s muscles, indicating that he was genuinely angry.
Su Yu released the child and, looking at him as he coughed incessantly, spoke coldly, “I am Xiao Bao’s father. If anyone dares to say that Xiao Bao is illegitimate, don’t blame me for bringing disaster upon your family. Don’t doubt my ability to do so.”
Xie Yu and the others looked at Su Yu with admiration in their eyes. Xiao Bao’s father was so formidable.
As for Xie Zhu, he had it coming. He had heard his father say that next year, Jinhe would take them to grow melons together to earn money. Those melons were delicious, but someone like Xie Zhu, from a family like theirs, couldn’t expect Jinhe to help them.
They would regret it next year.
“In the future, Dad will teach Xiao Bao martial arts here. Anyone who bullies Xiao Bao can be beaten back. With Dad around, there’s no need to fear. We won’t bully others, but we can’t let others bully us. If someone gets injured, it doesn’t matter. Dad has money to compensate for medical expenses for Xiao Bao,” Su Yu said to Xiao Bao seriously.
Xiao Bao nodded vigorously. He was determined to learn martial arts diligently from his father. If he became as powerful as his dad, no one would dare to insult his mother.
“Goodbye, Brother Yu. I’m going home with Dad and Mom,” Xiao Bao said, lowering his head to bid farewell to Xie Yu.
“Alright, we’ll play with Xiao Bao again next time.”
Xiao
People who had a good relationship with Wang Jinhe approached her curiously and asked, “Who is this?”
“He is Xiao Bao’s father. We received news years ago that something had happened at sea, and we thought it was true. He only found his way back here recently, and he went back for business a few days ago. He just returned today,” Wang Jinhe explained with a smile.
The older woman observed Xiao Bao’s close bond with his father and understood that what Wang Jinhe had said was true.
“It’s good that he’s back. It’s clear that Xiao Bao has a good relationship with him.”
“Yes, Xiao Bao really likes him, and their relationship is indeed good,” Wang Jinhe couldn’t deny that.
“Seeing you like this puts our minds at ease. The most important thing is to live your own life well. As for the rest, it’s not that important,” the older woman said with a smile.
Wang Jinhe nodded with a smile. “You’re right, Auntie. We’ll head back now.”
“Okay.”
In less than half an hour, news of Xiao Bao’s father’s return spread throughout the entire Xie family village. The village head, upon hearing the news, was also delighted. There had been some unpleasant rumors circulating in recent days, but now that the man had returned, it had silenced those rumors.
Back at home, when Grandpa Wang and the others saw him return, they all had smiles on their faces. “You’re back? Why didn’t you stay at home a bit longer?”
“I don’t want to stay at home,” he replied. Their home was not as comfortable as the Wang family’s.
Wang Jingyu saw Su Yu for the first time. This man looked a lot like Xiao Bao, and he had heard from his parents that he treated his sister and Xiao Bao very well. He had thought of many ways to make things difficult for the man, but now he couldn’t find the words to do so, especially when he saw how close Xiao Bao was to him.
“Which child doesn’t want to go back home?” Brother Wang thought he was joking.
Su Yu smiled and didn’t say much. He truly had no intention of going back home.
“Su Yu, this is my brother, Wang Jingyu. He was at the academy last time you were here, so you didn’t get to meet him,” Wang Jinhe introduced, pointing to Wang Jingyu, who had been watching Su Yu.
“Big brother.”
Wang Jingyu twitched his mouth, looking at Su Yu in disbelief. This guy was quite presumptuous, addressing him as ‘big brother’ so casually.
“Be good to my sister and Xiao Bao.”
“Okay.” Su Yu didn’t make grand promises. He would let his actions speak for themselves.
Xiao Bao, who had been listening to their conversation, finally asked curiously, “Daddy, what gifts did you bring for me this time?”
Daddy had promised to bring gifts for him and Mommy when he left.
“I brought some nice things,” Su Yu replied, taking Xiao Bao to get the gifts.
Wang Jingyu watched their close interaction and asked with surprise, “Have they always been like this?”
Wang Jinhe smiled and nodded, “Yes, when he’s with Xiao Bao, he acts like a child himself. He always finds a way to play with Xiao Bao.”
“Really? That’s nice to see. He must be from a wealthy family, but the fact that he can set aside his pride for Xiao Bao shows that he truly cares about you all,” Wang Jingyu remarked with a smile.
Wang Jinhe nodded in agreement.
Outside, Xiao Bao looked at the kite Su Yu brought him and asked, “Daddy, is this a big eagle?”
“Yes, it is. How about later, your mommy and I take you outside to play with it?” There was an open area outside where they could fly the kite together.
“Great.”
In addition to the kite, Su Yu also brought some new toys that were prepared by Yuan Ji and the others while he was away. They were meant to make his son happy.
“Wow, Daddy, so many toys!”
“Do you like them?”
Xiao Bao nodded vigorously, “I love them! I want to play with Big Brother Zhi when he comes back, but he was taken away by his grandpa.”
“When he comes back, you can play together,” Su Yu said indulgently, ruffling his son’s hair.
“Okay.”
If it weren’t for Zhang Zhilin going to the capital and being unable to come to play with him, Xiao Bao wouldn’t have run out with Xie Yu and the others.
“You two, come inside for dinner,” Wang Jinhe came out to look at the two.
“We’re coming.”
“Mommy, look at this big eagle,” Xiao Bao showed Wang Jinhe the kite in his hand.
“After dinner, we’ll take you to play,” Wang Jinhe noticed that Su Yu was very good at picking out things for children to play with. Could it be because he himself also liked to play?
After dinner, Xiao Bao dragged the two of them outside to fly the kite.
“Wang Jinhe, you scumbag! Do you think you can just find a wild man and claim he’s your son’s father? He’s nothing but a bastard, did my son say it wrong? How dare you let this wild man hit my son? I’m going to beat you to death today.”
While the family of three was happily playing, an untimely voice rang out.
