Gu Xiruo felt somewhat dissatisfied with Qing Yukong’s response. Shouldn’t he be asking her what help she needed? Why was there no reaction from him at all?
“Do you want me to help you with something?” Qing Yukong asked, looking at Gu Xiruo.
Gu Xiruo breathed a sigh of relief. It seemed that he understood the need to cooperate with her.
She had wanted to ask for Qing Yukong’s help, but the previous encounter with Lu Lingfeng had left her feeling somewhat guilty and hesitant to speak up. Now that he had brought it up himself, it was naturally a good thing for Gu Xiruo.
“I do want you to help me, but not right now. When I need your help in the future, I hope you’ll be there for me,” Gu Xiruo said with a smile.
Qing Yukong couldn’t help but feel a bit dazed by her slightly coquettish demeanor. He realized that Gu Xiruo also had her moments of being coquettish. She was truly adorable and a very good girl. As for the past, he no longer cared about it. As long as Gu Xiruo didn’t repeat such actions in the future, he would be content.
“Xiruo, I can help you with whatever you want to do, but you must remember not to betray me. Otherwise, I don’t know what I might do,” Qing Yukong said, reaching out to pinch Gu Xiruo’s chin, gently caressing her face with his fingertips as he murmured.
Gu Xiruo’s expression changed slightly. Qing Yukong’s current state seemed very dangerous.
“I won’t, you’re the best to me,” Gu Xiruo said with a smile.
At this point, she naturally wouldn’t confront Qing Yukong. Lu Lingfeng, who had chosen not to return to Qi Empire, no longer held any value for her. Instead, she decided to temporarily live a good life with Qing Yukong. After all, he was the young master of the Qing family, and he could help her with whatever she wanted to do in the future.
Qing Yukong was pleased to hear Gu Xiruo’s words. Regardless of whether she was deceiving him or not, it didn’t matter anymore.
As they listened to Gu Xiruo’s words, even the undercover guards who were monitoring their every move couldn’t help but roll their eyes. It seemed that Qing Yukong really enjoyed being cuckolded. The fact that he could overlook such matters was truly baffling.
The guards relayed the information back to Su Yu, and when Wang Jinhe learned that Qing Yukong had been easily appeased by Gu Xiruo, she couldn’t help but feel disappointed.
“It seems I overestimated Qing Yukong,” Gu Xiruo said disappointedly.
“Isn’t that normal? There’s no logic when it comes to liking someone,” Su Yu replied, with some understanding of what was on his mind.
Wang Jinhe shrugged, indicating that it wasn’t their concern if someone else was being cuckolded. They had other things to worry about.
“Let’s not dwell on this matter. Since Qing Yukong has forgiven Gu Xiruo and wants to live a good life with her, we can back off,” Wang Jinhe said thoughtfully, stroking her chin.
“Alright, I’ll inform Wan Feng,” Su Yu responded.
“Good.”
“Gu Xiruo will inevitably have to confront the Gu family if she wants to become the head. Since she’s seeking Qing Yukong’s help, we don’t need to do anything for now. We can just sit back and watch the show. When both sides are weakened, we can make our move. By then, we might be able to bring both the Qing and Gu families under our control,” Su Yu explained.
“Good”
This was a straightforward matter for Su Yu and the others.
Since Wang Jinhe was interested in the Gu and Qing families, they would follow her lead.
“I’ve already informed His Highness and the others. We’ll leave in a few days. As for the people in the Southern Frontier, I’ve told Nan Qiao to come directly to His Highness,” Su Yu said. He had been busy these days, handling his affairs and waiting to arrange things before taking Wang Jinhe and the others back home.
“Good.”
“However, have you thought about what to do with King Yan’s side?” Wang Jinhe asked Su Yu, looking somewhat worried.
“Since the people from Qi and Ling countries left, King Yan has been relatively quiet. He’s probably worried that I might make a move to compete for military power with him. But he’s also quite foolish. If I really wanted to seize military power, would he have waited until now?” Su Yu mused. King Yan was indeed much smarter than King Zhenbei, and he didn’t have any dirty laundry that could be used against him. It would be quite difficult to find any leverage against him.
“After this attempt, we can think of another way. Why are you so worried?” Wang Jinhe looked at Su Yu’s anxious expression and tried to reassure him.
“I’ve discussed it with His Highness. We’ll consider other options for dealing with King Yan after this. For now, we can only wait and see. Whether he behaves himself or continues to make moves,” Su Yu explained. Keeping him in check would buy them some time, but if he acted out, he would meet the same fate as King Zhenbei.
“The four Kings returned to report to His Highness, and he has already reclaimed 300,000 troops. This is a breakthrough for His Highness. As for whether King Yan’s military power can be reclaimed this year, it’s not so urgent now,” Su Yu added.
“You’re right.”
After making sure everything was prepared, Su Yu went to the palace to meet with Hong Yi and Chang Le.
“Your Highness, Wang Jinhe and I will be returning tomorrow. If there’s anything you need, just let me know. As for the Southern Frontier, The Emperor of Nanchuan has already sent their national teacher over. If there’s anything that can’t be resolved, just inform me, and I’ll have Nan Qiao come over,” Su Yu said, still feeling a bit uneasy as he rambled on about many things.
Seeing Su Yu’s anxious demeanor, Xuan Feiran felt a bit overwhelmed.
“Su Yu, your Highness is not a three-year-old child. You don’t need to be so meticulous in your instructions. And you can rest assured that I’ll be fine.”
After Xuan Feiran earnestly looked at Su Yu, he finally stopped speaking. After spending two hours in the palace, Su Yu left with Hong Yi and Chang Le. They decided not to accompany Su Yu’s party the next day.
The next morning, the carriage departed from the capital.
Once Wang Jinhe and Su Yu left, Gu Xiruo and Gu Qing learned about it. Gu Xiruo was happy, while Gu Qing was angry.
“What does this look like? Just leaving like that, what does she take this place for?” Gu Qing said angrily.
Upon hearing Gu Qing’s words, the people around exchanged glances. Who would stop the princes if even the Emperor didn’t stop her. Why was he so angry? And his tone was so bad. If the Prince found out, he would be in trouble again.
“Now we can only think of other ways,” Gu Qing said. Although she didn’t speak, everyone knew that they needed to come up with another plan. But was it necessary for them to do such a thing? It was truly infuriating.
“Alright, you all don’t need to stay here. Go back and think about how to bring Wang Jinhe back,” Gu Qing said, waving his hand to dismiss the people around him.
Due to Wang Jinhe’s condition, they traveled very slowly. Even Nan Qiao and Bai Qi rode in the same carriage as Su Yu’s family, all to ensure Wang Jinhe’s comfort.
