Chapter 627: Unable to Digest

“Please don’t be so polite. I called you here today to discuss the construction of the houses. How many stories can you build at most?” Wang Jinhe asked the old man directly.

The old man paused for a moment before replying, “The tallest building we’ve constructed is four stories.”

After considering for a moment, Wang Jinhe continued, “Four stories should suffice. Take a look at this blueprint. Can you build a house like this based on the design?”

Wang Jinhe felt that the twenty acres of land might not be enough.

The old man carefully examined the blueprint provided by Wang Jinhe and then said, “If we follow the County Princess’s blueprint, building up to five stories should be feasible. How large do you intend to build?”

“Each floor will consist of four rooms and a living room. I want to build houses on the entire twenty acres, all five stories high. This is the layout of the houses,” Wang Jinhe said, presenting another blueprint.

The old man was taken aback. He had initially thought that Wang Jinhe was only planning to build a single building, but now she intended to construct houses on the entire twenty acres.

“This project is quite extensive. I feel overwhelmed working on it alone, but I know many people in this field. Would it be possible for me to bring them along? This way, the construction can be completed sooner,” the old man suggested to Wang Jinhe.

Wang Jinhe nodded in agreement. “That’s not a problem at all. You can handle the labor aspect, but you’ll also need to arrange for the bricks and tiles. As for the cost, discuss it among yourselves and let me know.”

“Alright, I’ll go and bring the others. After discussing it, we’ll come back to inform the County Princess,” the old man said joyfully.

Taking on this project from the County Princess meant that they wouldn’t have to worry about work for the entire year.

“Sure, you can take the blueprint with you. Calculate how many bricks and tiles you’ll need, and make arrangements with the brick kiln. After all, you are more familiar with this aspect than I am,” Wang Jinhe said. She entrusted this task to the old man because of his good character and reliability.

“No problem, County Princess. Rest assured, we will ensure that the construction of these houses is done properly,” the old man assured.

“Good.”

After seeing off the old man, Wang Jinhe rubbed her stiff neck and muttered, “My neck is so stiff.”

Su Yu stood behind Wang Jinhe and reached out to massage her neck.

“That feels so good,” Wang Jinhe said, enjoying Su Yu’s thoughtful massage. As she thought about what else she needed to do, she realized that she had already completed all the tasks on her list. The remaining tasks were either not yet due or were pending the arrival of certain items.

“Darling, we’ve finished our tasks again. I feel like I’ll have a lot of free time on my hands for a while,” Wang Jinhe said, looking a bit despondent.

She had been busy for a while, and time had flown by. Now that she had nothing to do, she felt a bit lost.

Su Yu was at a loss for words at Wang Jinhe’s mention of having free time.

“You’ve been working non-stop since you got back. Can’t you just take a break for a couple of days?” Su Yu asked helplessly.

Wang Jinhe innocently looked at Su Yu and chuckled, “Once the baby is six months old, you won’t let me do anything. I need to get everything organized now, so I can take good care of myself and the baby after six and a half months.”

“By the way, do you or Wan Gu know a female doctor?” Wang Jinhe suddenly asked.

“Why? What’s the matter?” Su Yu asked, puzzled.

“Twins are usually born around eight months, so we need to find a midwife and a female doctor in advance. I think it’s best to find someone familiar, which would be more convenient,” Wang Jinhe explained.

Su Yu was concerned when he heard that the babies might arrive early. “Should we bring them to the house now?”

“No, it’s only been five months. We can wait until the seventh month to bring them in. You don’t need to worry so much,” Wang Jinhe said, shaking her head with a smile as she looked at Su Yu.

She rarely saw Su Yu so anxious.

Su Yu playfully pinched Wang Jinhe’s cheek and said, “You find it amusing to make fun of me, don’t you?”

Wang Jinhe laughed and waggled her finger. “I didn’t say that. You said it yourself, and it has nothing to do with me.”

Su Yu wasn’t upset about being teased. He had heard from Gu Jiuning that it was important to maintain a good mood during pregnancy, so that childbirth wouldn’t be so difficult.

Seeing Wang Jinhe in such a cheerful mood made him happy.

“By the way, there are some other things we need to prepare,” Wang Jinhe suddenly thought of items like a baby crib and a stroller.

“What things?”

“Baby crib, stroller, and some other small items.”

“Draw them out, and I’ll have someone prepare them,” Su Yu said.

“Okay.”

The two went to the study, and Su Yu watched as Wang Jinhe sketched out the items that needed to be prepared.

“This stroller is really nice. We can take the baby out for a walk when they’re older, without having to carry them all the time,” Wang Jinhe remarked.

“I mean, it’s really exhausting to take care of two children at the same time,” Wang Jinhe remarked. Taking care of children is indeed physically demanding, especially when it involves caring for two.

She felt increasingly overwhelmed as she thought about how to handle such young children.

Seeing Wang Jinhe like this, Su Yu couldn’t help but laugh. “I thought you had experience from taking care of Xiao Bao.”

Facing Su Yu’s teasing, Wang Jinhe didn’t get upset. “You know the situation. I didn’t take care of Xiao Bao from infancy; he was already three years old when I arrived and didn’t need me to be with him all the time. But these two will need my care from the very beginning.”

“It’s the same. Look at how well you took care of Hong Yi. Are you  still worried about not being able to take care of our children?” Su Yu shook his head.

Even though she had experience with taking care of a young child, she seemed to be overly concerned, and Su Yu couldn’t understand Wang Jinhe’s thoughts.

“It’s different. Hong Yi was alone at the time, but we have two now. With twins, if one gets sick, the other will likely get sick too,” Wang Jinhe explained. She had seen this with other twins before.

“Every time the children get sick, it’s a tough battle.”

“We have Wan Gu, Bai Qi, and Nan Qiao. There’s no need to worry about that,” Su Yu reassured.

Wang Jinhe looked at Su Yu in a daze. It seemed true that their family had quite a few doctors, so there was no need to worry.

“Your words have put my mind at ease,” Wang Jinhe said, unable to suppress a smile.

“With everything almost arranged, I can finally relax,” Wang Jinhe sighed in relief.

As Huang Qi brought the medicinal seeds, Chen Jinnian and the others began preparing for the enrollment at the academy. Xie Kui had been waiting for this opportunity since the academy was built.

Upon hearing that enrollment was about to begin, he naturally wouldn’t miss the chance. “Wife, Xiao He’s academy is about to open, and they are already starting to enroll students. I’ll go talk to Xiao He first, then I’ll visit my mother’s place and bring all the girls from my elder brother’s family over.”
