He wanted their soldiers to eat and fight without worrying about provisions or medicinal herbs.
Wang Jinhe nodded in agreement. “Yes, our soldiers won’t have to worry about these things. They just need to focus on winning the battle.”
“It’s still early to talk about these things. We have a few months of preparation time,” Su Yu said.
“Although we still have a few months, time passes quickly. It seems like there’s still plenty of time, but in reality, it’s not that long,” Wang Jinhe said, expressing some concern.
Time flies by quickly. It feels like she hasn’t been here for long, but in reality, it’s been almost three years.
“Time seems to have passed quickly. When I first met you, I had just arrived, and now, in the blink of an eye, we’ve known each other for over two years and have two more children,” Wang Jinhe said, touching her belly with a sense of emotion.
Upon hearing Wang Jinhe’s words, Su Yu carefully considered and realized that it was true. Time had passed quickly. The little three-year-old boy from back then was now over five years old, and he had grown quite a bit taller.
Looking at Wang Jinhe, Su Yu asked, “Jinhe, have you grown taller?”
“Really?” Wang Jinhe looked at Su Yu in disbelief.
Su Yu helped Wang Jinhe stand up, and the two of them compared their heights. When they first met, Wang Jinhe only reached Su Yu’s shoulder, but now she reached his lips.
“You have indeed grown taller, quite a bit,” Su Yu said with a smile.
However, she was still petite and delicate.
Wang Jinhe hadn’t paid attention to these things, but she was happy to learn that she had indeed grown taller.
Meanwhile, Qiu Yi rolled her eyes in secret. Miss had changed her clothes several times because they no longer fit, and yet the two of them had only just noticed that she had grown taller? How oblivious.
Unaware of Qiu Yi’s expression, the two of them continued chatting for a while before changing the subject to other matters.
Qiu Yi listened with some confusion. Miss and Master really did talk about everything, but it was strange that they could talk about such diverse topics together. Sometimes, she couldn’t understand what they were talking about.
Fortunately, Su Yu was unaware of Qiu Yi’s thoughts, or he would have been more vigilant.
After teaching the kitchen staff how to prepare convenient food, Wang Jinhe was finally able to focus on her pregnancy. Her belly grew rapidly after six months, and Su Yu was always a bit nervous when he saw it. Even the children were afraid to get too close to Wang Jinhe, fearing they might startle her.
Hong Yi used to enjoy being held by Wang Jinhe, but now he didn’t dare ask.
As her belly grew, Wang Jinhe began to experience some of the typical issues that arise in the late stages of pregnancy: leg cramps, swelling, and difficulty sleeping at night. Especially when the baby moved vigorously, she would often be kicked awake. The lack of sleep was visibly taking a toll on her, causing her to lose weight.
With her large belly and frail body, Su Yu was extremely worried. If it weren’t for assurances from Bai Qi and the others that Wang Jinhe’s health was fine, he would have been on the verge of a breakdown.
Wang Jinhe’s restless sleep would startle Su Yu whenever she moved, and as the baby’s movements became more intense, Su Yu would read to the child. It was a mystery how reading to them would calm the baby down for a while.
Sitting by the bed, Su Yu watched Wang Jinhe sleep, gently stroking her belly with one hand holding her belly and the other holding a book to read to the baby. Whenever Su Yu paused, the baby would move, as if urging him to continue reading.
“Just a little more reading, and then I’ll stop. You two, be good and don’t disturb your mother’s rest,” Su Yu whispered to the baby. Now eight months pregnant, the baby’s movements had become even more intense, and the midwife and the female physician were staying at the house. Su Yu was deeply afraid that something might go wrong.
After finishing the book, Su Yu leaned down and softly said to Wang Jinhe’s belly, “It’s time to rest. I’ll read to you again tomorrow. If you disturb your mother’s rest, I’ll definitely spank you when you’re born.”
It seemed that Su Yu’s threat had an effect, as the two babies remained calm and still. After waiting for a while to ensure they wouldn’t move around, Su Yu finally got into bed and embraced Wang Jinhe to rest.
Wang Jinhe woke up early and couldn’t help but feel sorry for Su Yu, who was still sound asleep beside her. She noticed that Su Yu had been more tired than her in the past month, often spending an hour reading to the babies. At night, he remained vigilant, fearing that she might experience leg cramps or discomfort.
Reaching out to touch Su Yu’s eyes, she noticed the dark circles underneath them. As soon as her hand touched him, Su Yu opened his eyes. Wang Jinhe felt a pang of regret. “You should get some more sleep.”
“I’m fine. Did you sleep well last night?” Su Yu asked.
Wang Jinhe nodded. “Yes, I slept well. The babies didn’t cause much trouble last night.”
“That’s good. Just hold on a little longer. Once the babies are born, everything will be better.”
“Mother said that having twins is more demanding on the body and that I need to observe a longer postpartum confinement period. It’s going to be a long time,” Wang Jinhe said, feeling overwhelmed at the thought.
“Forty days?” Su Yu had heard about this from Gu Jiuning once, but he hadn’t paid much attention.
“Fifty days. Mother also said I shouldn’t bathe or wash my hair, especially during the first thirty days. I feel like I’ll end up smelling terrible,” Wang Jinhe said, feeling apprehensive.
“We can secretly wash you, and no one will know. I’ll wash your hair at night and use my inner energy to dry it for you. No one will find out,” Su Yu suggested, noticing Wang Jinhe’s resistance.
Wang Jinhe was someone who was a bit of a clean freak and usually bathed every day even in winter. For her to go so long without bathing or washing her hair would undoubtedly be a challenge.
“However, you can only bathe once every seven days,” Su Yu added, setting a limit for Wang Jinhe’s well-being, to prevent her from insisting on bathing every day.
Wang Jinhe nodded. “Alright, let’s go with that.”
She knew it wasn’t good for her body, but bathing once every seven days was acceptable. As for not bathing, she could always use the spirit spring water to wipe herself down every day, which was better than not bathing at all.
Seeing Wang Jinhe’s improved mood, Su Yu’s curiosity was piqued. “What are you thinking about? Your mood suddenly improved?”
Wang Jinhe chuckled. “Nothing, I just feel very happy.”
Su Yu looked at Wang Jinhe, feeling both amused and exasperated. “As long as you’re happy.”
Su Yu helped Wang Jinhe up and handed her some clothes. Looking at her current figure, Wang Jinhe felt a bit unhappy. “I’m so fat.”
“Who said you’re fat? You’re so thin. You need to take good care of yourself after the babies are born,” Su Yu said, noticing that her face had slimmed down compared to before pregnancy.
Although somewhat reluctant, Wang Jinhe was still happy that Su Yu didn’t mind her appearance. “It’s a good thing you don’t mind, or else we’d have a problem.”
Watching Qiu Yi come in to help Wang Jinhe with her hair, Su Yu chuckled and said, “How could I ever mind you?” He was so fond of Wang Jinhe, so how could he ever mind?
