“This, you don’t have to worry about. We won’t start from the capital, but we can start from the larger towns nearby. I’ll manage the shop, and you’ll be responsible for growing these specialty fruits. When we make money, we split it fifty-fifty. How does that sound to you?” Su Yu looked at Wang Jinhe earnestly.
In addition to recognizing the quality of Wang Jinhe’s specialty fruits, Su Yu was also thinking about the prospect of them opening a store together. With that, this girl wouldn’t be able to escape from him, right?
Being the proprietress of all his shops—Su Yu really liked the sound of that. Of course, that was something he couldn’t let Wang Jinhe know.
Wang Jinhe thought for a moment and agreed, nodding, “If it’s in nearby county towns, that’s definitely doable. And splitting the money fifty-fifty should work. But what do you think we should name our shop?”
“What do you think it should be called?” Su Yu didn’t have any specific ideas in mind, so if Wang Jinhe had any suggestions, that would be fine.
“How about we call it ‘Four Seasons Specialty Fruits’? What do you think? It symbolizes one home, one house, three meals a day, and four seasons,” Wang Jinhe suggested.
“I really like that name,” Su Yu replied. He had only asked casually and didn’t expect Wang Jinhe to come up with such a fitting name.
“I like it too,” Wang Jinhe said with a raised eyebrow.
“After that, I’ll need to buy more land so we can expand and grow more crops. Once we have more chickens on the farm, we can sell eggs too. The eggs from Little Flower and the others taste much better than regular eggs,” Wang Jinhe explained.
Su Yu wholeheartedly agreed. He had always thought that eggs had a certain fishy taste, but the eggs he had eaten at Wang Jinhe’s place were absolutely delicious, and they had converted him, someone who didn’t like eggs, into a fan.
“By the way, do we have any extra eggs at home?” Su Yu inquired.
“We have over a hundred, what’s up?” Wang Jinhe hadn’t considered selling the eggs from Little Flower and the others; they either consumed them at home or provided them to the academy for Wang Jingyu’s master to eat.
“My grandpa likes to eat eggs, but those eggs have a bit of a fishy taste, and they don’t taste as good as the ones here,” Su Yu explained briefly, always thinking of Su Xi when he had something good.
“Sure, when Yuanbao goes back, you can give him some to take to Grandpa,” Wang Jinhe said.
“Would your parents like some too?”
Su Yu shook his head and replied coldly, “No need, they don’t lack food.”
Wang Jinhe looked at Su Yu in surprise. In her impression, Su Yu was a very filial person, but he seemed quite indifferent towards his parents.
“Do you have a bad relationship with your parents?” Wang Jinhe asked curiously.
Suyu remained silent, not saying a word. It’s unclear how much time passed before he finally talked to Wang Jinhe about his parents.
“After coming back this time, I realized that I’m nothing but a joke,” Su Yu said self-deprecatingly.
Wang Jinhe furrowed her brow and looked at Suyu. “What’s the purpose behind their actions? Are you their son, or their enemy? Why would they treat you like this?”
At that time, Su Yu was just a teenager, right?
How could they be so heartless towards Su Yu, especially Su Yu’s mother? Are they out of their minds?
It’s clear that they orchestrated this situation themselves, yet they’ve come as far as tormenting Su Yu?
“I’m having trouble understanding the motives behind your parents’ actions,” Wang Jinhe earnestly asked Su Yu.
Su Yu chuckled bitterly, “I don’t know either. I always thought it was because of my dad, so she kept treating me this way, constantly tormenting me, nothing I did was right. There was even a time when I was seriously injured, and she kept on tormenting me. I was in a coma for many days. At that time, I wondered if she wouldn’t be happy until she’d killed me. I thought she was upset because of my dad, so I didn’t say anything.”
“But this time, I realized that everything I did in the past was a huge joke to them.” Su Yu couldn’t help but wonder why, even though they knew everything, he ended up being the one tormented.
Sometimes, he really wanted to ask if their actions had any meaning. What benefits did they gain from treating him this way?
“So you came over so quickly this time, and you say you don’t want to stay at home?” Wang Jinhe could empathize with Su Yu’s feelings. If she had experienced something like this, she would have exploded.
“Wife, I have nowhere else to go. Can you shelter me for a while?” Su Yu looked at Wang Jinhe with a pitiful expression.
Wang Jinhe rolled her eyes at Su Yu, “I hear you talking nonsense.”
“Seriously, I don’t want to go back.”
“When you left, didn’t your parents want to say something to you?” Wang Jinhe asked Su Yu.
Su Yu looked at Wang Jinhe in silence and replied, “Is that even important?”
Wang Jinhe paused, then smiled at Su Yu, “You’re right; it’s no longer important. Harming someone really only takes a few simple actions.”
And the couple had hurt Su Yu for four long years, and intentionally at that. This made it even more unacceptable.
She reached out and patted Su Yu’s head, saying, “Come on, don’t be upset anymore. You still have my family and me, right? See how well my parents and grandparents treat you?”
Sometimes, the way her family treated Su Yu made her feel like he was their biological child. Was she adopted or something?
A smile finally appeared on Su yu’s face. “I talked to my grandpa about you and Xiao Bao. I’ve already told him that I won’t be going back for a while.”
“But Grandpa said to make sure to bring him some delicious food back if there’s any,” Su Yu added with a playful glint in his eyes.
Wang Jinhe, curious, looked at Su Yu and asked, “Do you have a good relationship with your grandpa?”
“Uncle and Cousin are both busy and don’t have time for me, and my brother has his own things to deal with, so he’s rarely at home. I was raised by my grandpa, and we have a great relationship. During these four years when I was injured, it was always my grandpa who took care of me. I asked him not to tell them about me coming here, and he won’t,” Su Yu explained.
He had initially thought he could reconcile with them in the future, but he was wrong. It wasn’t him who didn’t want to get along; it was them.
Wang Jinhe was momentarily at a loss for how to comfort Su Yu.
“I’m fine; you don’t need to look at me like that. I’ve already gotten used to it over the past four years, and it’s quite alright,” Su Yu said nonchalantly. “Besides, I have a home now, so I don’t care about them anymore.”
“Still, you shouldn’t say it like that,” Wang Jinhe replied, furrowing her brow as she looked at Su Yu.
“When I left, I told my grandfather and asked him to tell them that I would go away and never come back.”
Wang Jinhe looked at Su Yu in astonishment and shook her head in confusion: “As long as you are happy,… but what if one day they apologize to you?”
