While Wang Jinhe was busy with the food supply, Su Yu was discussing war matters with his subordinates. Some people from Forget Sorrow City had arrived a month ago and had been idling around here. It was time for them to start working after a month of leisure.
Su Yu called Nan Qiao and the others to meet the people who had come from Forget Sorrow City.
“A Yu, you finally came. Is there anything for us to do? We’ve been bored to death after a month of idleness,” one of them said.
“Yeah, A Yu, you need to give us something to do,” another chimed in.
Su Yu sat down on an empty chair and said, “I came here today to give you some tasks to do.”
“A Yu, just tell us, we’ll make sure to get it done for you,” they assured him.
Su Yu took off the jade pendant from his waist and handed it to Luo Hou beside him. “Luo Hou, I want you to lead a group to transport the food to the border.”
“All of us together?” Luo Hou frowned, asking. Transporting over a million kilograms of food to the border would be quite a hassle.
“Start by sending over 100,000 kilograms first. The subsequent deliveries before the New Year should total no less than 1 million kilograms of food at the border, along with medicinal herbs—all types of medicinal herbs must be fully stocked,” Su Yu said solemnly.
“Understood.”
“Wait, does this mean we’re going to war?” one of them asked.
Su Yu nodded. “Yes, Qi Empire has already sent troops. It’s currently just minor skirmishes and probing, but I feel that they will launch a large-scale war after the New Year. We must have everything prepared before the New Year.”
“Brother Yu, what can I do?” Nan Qiao asked.
“Luo Hou and Luo Yan will be in charge of transporting the food and medicinal herbs. You and Bai Qi will accompany me. We will go to the border together,” Su Yu instructed.
“Okay.”
“What about Yin Fan and the others?” Nan Qiao remembered Yin Fan and the rest.
“Yin Fan and the others will be responsible for delivering the convenience food prepared by your sister-in-law, as well as some essential items. These items must be delivered discreetly in batches, so it’s more suitable for Yin Fan and the others to handle,” Su Yu explained.
Nan Qiao nodded thoughtfully, understanding the situation.
“Luo Hou, I’ll leave the matters here to you. Chen Jinnian and Qi Feng will assist you. We will return to the capital the day after tomorrow,” Su Yu instructed.
“Brother Yu, should we bring Yanxi and the others? They are still young; will they be able to handle it?” Nan Qiao asked, feeling concerned.
“Bring them. We need to update the family records,” Su Yu explained. They were worried about leaving them here, and the children were already six months old, so they were easy to take care of. Besides, with so many people, they could take care of the six children.
“Okay, we will definitely protect the children. Brother Yu, you can rest assured,” Nan Qiao said earnestly.
Su Yu chuckled softly. “I have always been confident in all of you.”
Of course, he also had complete trust in them, which is why he entrusted them with such an important task of transporting food and medicinal herbs.
Luo Hou and the others naturally understood Su Yu’s trust in them.
“Brother Yu, we will not let you down. We will make sure to handle everything well,” Luo Hou said earnestly, looking at Su Yu.
“I trust you to handle it,” Su Yu replied.
Originally, Su Yu and the others were supposed to rush to the capital, but they realized just before leaving that Wang Jingyu’s wedding was approaching in a few days.
After considering, Wang Jinhe and Su Yu decided to wait until after Wang Jingyu’s wedding before departing.
In the blink of an eye, it was the day of Wang Jingyu’s wedding. The day before, Wang Jinhe entrusted the children to Su Yu and went to help Wang Jingyu prepare the bridal chamber.
Under Wang Jinhe’s arrangement, Wang Jingyu’s bridal chamber looked even more warm and inviting. She even cut some fresh flowers from the garden to decorate the room.
No matter how many times they looked at it, the flower arrangement that Wang Jinhe had created looked exceptionally beautiful. The combination of seemingly unrelated flowers turned out to be stunning.
Gu Jiuning couldn’t help but laugh as she looked at the room that had been transformed by Wang Jinhe. “Your brother should really thank you. Look at how beautiful this room is.”
“My brother is only getting married once, so of course it should look nice,” Wang Jinhe replied. Although they wouldn’t stay for long and would soon head to the capital for the imperial examination, and then to the north for official duties, there would always be some mischief to come.
“You’re right. After your brother’s examination, he will go to the north for his official duties, and then all of you children will be gone,” Gu Jiuning said somewhat wistfully.
“I will never leave Mother’s side. I will always stay with Mother,” Yu Mosun said earnestly, patting his little chest.
Wang Jinhe looked at his serious and determined expression and couldn’t help but shake her head at his mature demeanor.
Even though this little brother was a bit mischievous, he still listened to his parents.
“You little thing, you know how to comfort Mother?”
“Sister is mean.”
“Oh, then I won’t make your favorite dishes anymore, and I won’t make roast duck either.”
“No, no.”
“Alright, let’s stop. Can we leave Father and Mother to you from now on, Mosun?”
“Okay.” Yu Mosun nodded firmly.
The next day was Wang Jingyu’s wedding day, and Qin Lang and the others all came to help with the wedding procession.
By noon, the wedding procession finally returned, which relieved Gu Jiuning.
Seeing Gu Jiuning’s relieved expression, Wang Jinhe couldn’t help but tease, “Mother, are you happy that you’re about to drink the tea from your daughter-in-law?”
“Of course, I’m happy. Tongtong is a good girl.”
“My sister-in-law is indeed very good, and her family is also nice, which puts my brother at ease,” Wang Jinhe commented.
Gu Jiuning looked at her daughter with amusement. “What are you talking about?”
“I’m telling the truth.”
Gu Jiuning shook her head with a smile, feeling a bit helpless towards Wang Jinhe. However, she couldn’t deny that she was right—a good in-law family could make her son’s life much easier.
Soon, Wang Jingyu and his wife paid their respects to the heavens and the earth, and then Wang Jingyu’s friends escorted him to the bridal chamber.
As they lifted the veil, someone teasingly asked Wang Jingyu, “As the first among us to get married, what are your thoughts? And your bride is so beautiful, we envy you.”
“I’m not envious,” Qin Lang interjected.
After the imperial examination, he would also be getting married, to Shanshan.
Luo Su gave Qin Lang a look. “You have a fiancée, of course you’re not envious, but we are.”
“That’s right.”
Wen Sitong looked at them speechlessly. This group of people could really talk, saying anything and everything.
“Jingyu, it’s impossible to go to the bridal chamber now. Let’s go out for a drink,” someone said, dragging him away.
After they left, Wang Jinhe and Su Shan came in with some food. “Sister-in-law, have something to eat first. You must be starving,” Wang Jinhe said. She had been famished during her own wedding.
“Indeed, I am hungry.”
After the meal, Wen Sitong chatted with Wang Jinhe and the others. Looking at the flower arrangements on the nearby table, she exclaimed, “The flowers are so beautifully arranged!”
“You can try it in the future, sister-in-law.”
However, Wen Sitong shook her head with a smile. “After my husband passes the examination, I will have to go with him to the north for his official duties. There probably won’t be these kinds of flowers for me to try there.”
