Su Yu suddenly realized and looked at Wang Jinhe, “I see. Then let’s prepare a goose leg for each of them to gnaw on slowly.”
“Yuan Bao, have someone buy a goose and besides the legs, how should we prepare the rest?” Su Yu had never eaten anything made with goose meat before.
“Simply stew the whole goose in an iron pot.” This was a famous dish from the Northeast.
She had visited the Northeast before and learned from a chef how to make this dish. The taste was actually quite good, and she quite liked it.
Su Yu stared blankly at Wang Jinhe, “Is that considered a dish?”
The name seemed a bit too straightforward.
“That’s the name of the dish. You’ll see what it is once I make it,” Wang Jinhe replied with a suppressed smile.
“Just so happens that my brother is graduating today, so we should celebrate properly. I’ll invite everyone over and cook delicious food for you all,” she continued.
Upon hearing about delicious food, Xiao Bao’s eyes lit up, “Mommy, what delicious food are you going to make for us?”
Wang Jinhe couldn’t help but smile at Xiao Bao’s excitement. This child was truly amusing; besides studying and playing with gold, his favorite thing was probably eating various delicious foods.
He had become quite picky now, refusing to eat anything that wasn’t tasty.
“What do you want to eat?” Wang Jinhe asked Xiao Bao.
“I haven’t decided yet. I think all the food you make is delicious,” Xiao Bao replied.
Wang Jinhe reached out and tapped Xiao Bao’s forehead, “Don’t worry, I’ll make sure you enjoy the meal.”
“Great! Mommy. Daddy, and Brother, let’s go invite Grandfather and the others over for dinner.”
Su Yu had intended to have a conversation with Wang Jinhe, but in the blink of an eye, his time had been arranged by Xiao Bao.
Helplessly, Su Yu looked at his beloved son and said with a headache, “Xiao Bao, when you’re arranging things for me, should you consider my feelings first?”
“Mommy wants to make delicious food, Daddy can’t help here, and you can’t talk to mommy. Come with me,” Xiao Bao said, pushing Su Yu towards the door.
Xiaozhi chuckled on the side, covering her mouth. She found it amusing to see her father looking so helpless because of Xiao Bao.
Su Yu could only smile wryly as he followed Xiao Bao to the Su family to prepare for the dinner with the others, while Yuan Bao went to inform Wang Jingyu and the rest.
Upon hearing Yuan Bao’s message, Wang Jingyu nodded in agreement, “Alright, I understand.”
“Will you all come?” Wang Jingyu asked his new friends.
The group exchanged glances and hesitantly spoke, “Would it be inappropriate for us to attend your family gathering? And going to the Prince’s Mansion makes us a bit apprehensive.”
Seeing their hesitation, Wang Jingyu chuckled and said, “Su Yu won’t bite. Let’s go together.”
“Okay.”
The group instructed the servant to inform their families that they would be staying at the prince’s Mansion for the evening before returning home.
When the families found out that their children went to someone else’s house and didn’t return home, they were so angry that they wanted to drag the children back and give them a good beating. However, upon learning that the children were at Su Yu’s house, especially with the top scholar, they felt relieved. Their children were making progress. They hoped that in the future, they could ask the prince to let them buy some fresh fruits and vegetables, even if just occasionally.
Upon arriving at the Prince’s Mansion with Wang Jingyu, the group found that the mansion was not particularly remarkable. Inside, they saw two children playing, along with two identical-looking children in a small carriage. Two maids were looking after them, holding cute toys.
“I heard that the prince’s family has a pair of twins. They are so adorable, aren’t they?”
“Yes, and their clothes are cute too.”
Different from the other children’s clothes.
“Their clothes are all made by my sister for them. Besides our family’s children, no one else has such clothes,” Wang Jingyu explained. Naturally, his nieces and nephews had the best clothes, and of course, there was also the little troublemaker at home.
“When Xiao He isn’t busy with gardening, she makes beautiful clothes for the children at home. My brother’s clothes are also very nice, but only when he’s quiet and well-behaved,” Wang Jingyu added. Just the thought of that little troublemaker being noisy and mischievous at home made everything chaotic.
Even big flower, so proud and majestic, was chased around by that little rascal.
“Do you have a younger brother?”
“Yes, he’s over two years old.”
The people nearby looked at Wang Jingyu with strange expressions, and one of them asked in shock, “You actually have a younger brother who is over two years old?”
Wang Jingyu frowned at them, “Is that so surprising?”
“Forgive me for asking, but how old is your mother?”
“She’s thirty-nine.”
The onlookers gazed at Wang Jingyu in disbelief, “She’s that young?”
“It sounds like you’re implying that your mothers are much older. They’re all around the same age,” Wang Jingyu retorted, feeling irritated.
Could these guys even hold a decent conversation? What did they mean by “that young”?
The people nearby coughed awkwardly and chuckled, saying, “No, no, we just find it a bit unbelievable that you’re already so grown up and yet have a younger brother who is over two years old.”
The others nodded repeatedly, “Exactly, we just find it unbelievable, no other meaning behind it.”
Wang Jingyu didn’t feel like talking to them. Sometimes, it was better not to explain, as explanations could lead to even greater misunderstandings.
The group seemed to realize this as well, clearing their throats and remaining silent.
Shortly after, Su Yu returned with Xiao Bao and the others, accompanied by Su Xi and the rest of the family. Su Jiu had not arrived yet as he had official duties to attend to, but Ming Wanning was present.
Ming Wanning looked even more beautiful now than before, with a serene happiness in her expression. Clearly, she was leading a very happy life after getting married.
“Uncle, I heard that you topped the imperial examination, is that true?” Xiao Bao’s eyes lit up as he asked Wang Jingyu.
Wang Jingyu lifted Xiao Bao up and playfully tossed him in the air, “Why do you feel heavier all of a sudden?”
“How does it feel for your uncle to top the imperial examination?” Wang Jingyu asked Xiao Bao with a smile.
Xiao Bao was initially in high spirits, but upon hearing Wang Jingyu comment on his weight, he became very upset, “I’m not fat, you’re the one who’s fat.”
Xiao Zhi nodded in agreement, “Xiao Bao is not fat at all.”
He’s just even cuter now, although Xiao Zhi didn’t actually say that out loud.
Wang Jingyu set Xiao Bao down and pinched his cheek, “You say you’re not fat, do you believe that yourself?”
With a huff, Xiao Bao grabbed Xiao Zhi’s hand and ran to Su Yu to complain, “Daddy, Uncle said mean things about me.”
“After Mommy makes something delicious later, should we not let him have any?” Su Yu naturally wanted to save face for his son.
“Today, Uncle topped the imperial examination, so we should let him have a little bit of the delicious food, but only a little bit,” Xiao Bao said, feeling a bit hesitant.
Wang Jingyu’s friends, seeing Xiao Bao’s reaction, couldn’t help but ask, “How did Jingyu end up with such a nephew?”
Someone nudged the speaker and quickly bowed, “Greetings, Your Highness.”
The others realized and quickly bowed as well.
“You may rise.”
