Lingquan Space: Fortunate Wife of a Farmer’s Family Chapter 708

Chapter 708: Spread Throughout the Capital City

“Coming to seize your adoptive mother’s belongings at this time was already your fault. How dare you question others?” They felt that Gu Xiruo was truly unreasonable.

Facing the pointing and whispering of the crowd, Gu Xiruo realized she had been too hasty. She could only leave for now and then ask Gu Sheng for help to retrieve these items from Gu Yanqi.

Watching Gu Xiruo flee, Gu Yanqi’s eyes turned slightly cold. It seemed she wouldn’t give up so easily.

“You all better do your jobs properly. Without my and my uncle’s permission, no one can replace you,” Gu Yanqi turned to the people behind him and spoke.

“In the future, if something happens to me, these shops will belong to my sister, Princess Wang Jinhe. There is no connection between Gu Xiruo and these properties.” Considering Gu Xiruo’s vicious nature, he didn’t give her face today, and she would likely retaliate against him later.

Perhaps she would even cause trouble for Gu Sheng.

“Yes, Young Master.”

After leaving the shop, Gu Yanqi took the property deeds and house deeds to the Royal Mansion.

“I wish to see Princess Wang Jinhe,” Gu Yanqi said to the gatekeeper.

The gatekeeper glanced at Gu Yanqi. “Please wait a moment.”

Wang Jinhe seemed surprised that Gu Yanqi had come to see her at this time. After a moment of consideration, she spoke, “Let him in.”

“Yes, Princess.”

Upon entering, Gu Yanqi noticed Wang Jinhe dressed in plain clothes. He was momentarily taken aback, but then smiled faintly. This was enough.

“Why are you here seeking me, weren’t you handling your mother’s funeral matters at the Gu residence?” Wang Jinhe asked, furrowing her brow.

“This is for you.”

Wang Jinhe looked at the items placed beside her, which included property deeds and house deeds.

“What do you mean by this?”

“Mother was the legitimate daughter of the Chen family. When she married Gu Sheng, her dowry was substantial. She gave me these items because she knew Gu Sheng wouldn’t spare her. So, a couple of days ago, she handed me the property deeds, house deeds, and dowry documents.” Gu Yanqi explained to Wang Jinhe.

Wang Jinhe furrowed her brow as she looked at Gu Yanqi, wondering what he intended to say next.

“Mother said that her dowry should be split between us, but today I gave in to Gu Xiruo out of embarrassment. Some matters will soon spread throughout the entire capital city. After Mother’s funeral, she will likely join forces with Gu Sheng against me. It’s best for these items to be in your possession, and Uncle will agree,” Gu Yanqi explained to Wang Jinhe.

“I know you resent them and that Mother’s actions were wrong. After Gu Sheng admitted he knew you were their biological daughter, Mother regretted her choices. She understood that you had lost all hope in them and didn’t dare to ask for anything.” Gu Yanqi felt a pang of discomfort as he recalled his mother’s final words.

Wang Jinhe’s expression was complex, unsure of what to say at that moment.

“If you don’t want them, it’s fine. Just help me keep them safe for now. After I deal with Gu Xiruo later, you can return them to me. I don’t want Mother’s belongings to end up with her. Even Uncle wouldn’t agree. He has never liked Gu Xiruo since she was young, and he even forbade her from visiting the Chen family,” Gu Yanqi shared with Wang Jinhe, unsure why he was revealing all this to her.

He decided to speak his mind.

After a moment of silence, Wang Jinhe nodded and said, “I can help you keep these items safe. Remember to come back for them later.”

“Alright, I’ll head back now. There’s still a lot to take care of at home.”

Wang Jinhe nodded as she watched Gu Yanqi leave.

Later, as she examined the items, she sighed softly. Thinking of something, she instructed Yuan Xu beside her, “Go find Nan Qiao and get a few antidote pills to give to Gu Yanqi. Gu Xiruo has too many strange poisons in her possession. It’s better to be prepared.”

“Understood.”

Nan Qiao was a bit displeased to hear that Wang Jinhe wanted to provide antidote pills to Gu Yanqi. However, knowing that Gu Yanqi was reliable, he agreed to prepare the antidote pills for him.

As Gu Yanqi approached the Gu residence, Yuan Xu appeared before him and handed him a porcelain bottle.

“Here are the antidote pills. Be careful with them,” Yuan Xu said coolly.

Looking at the porcelain bottle in his hand, Gu Yanqi’s lips curved slightly. “I understand. Please thank her for me.”

Yuan Xu didn’t say anything and turned to leave.

After Gu Yanqi departed, Wang Jinhe wrote a letter to Su Yu. She was unsure of what to do now.

Her feelings towards Lady Gu were complex. If only Su Yu were by her side, he could advise her on what to do.

Perhaps she should write to him and ask for his opinion.

Upon returning to the Gu residence, Gu Sheng was nowhere to be found, while Chen Lan remained in the mourning hall.

“How did it go?”

“I gave all the property deeds and house deeds that Mother left me to my sister. I asked her to keep them for me and return them later, and she agreed,” Gu Yanqi explained.

Chen Lan knew the purpose behind his actions without needing to ask.

“You did the right thing. They will definitely come after you later. You must be careful. When I leave, make sure to have a few people by your side. If anything happens, have them inform me,” Chen Lan’s greatest concern now was his nephew’s safety.

“Thank you, Uncle. These are the antidote pills my sister gave me. There are five in total. I’ll keep two with me, and you can hold onto the other three. If something happens to me, they will come in handy. Right now, I only trust you, Uncle,” Gu Yanqi expressed, with no one in the entire Gu family he would entrust his life to.

Chen Lan nodded. “I understand. Your mother…”

“Mother was poisoned to death. It was likely done by Gu Sheng and Gu Xiruo. Unfortunately, I have no evidence, so I can only push the blame onto one person. It’s futile, but I will definitely avenge Mother’s death,” Gu Yanqi’s eyes were filled with resentment.

Even if Mother had faults, she was kind to him when he was young. She later regretted her actions, but Gu Sheng still chose to harm her despite their decades-long relationship. Gu Yanqi would never forgive him for that.

Chen Lan looked at his nephew and sighed softly, patting his shoulder. “As long as you know what you’re doing. If you need anything, just let me know. My sister won’t be bullied by them.”

To do such a thing for an adopted daughter was simply a huge joke.

“I will handle the Gu family’s affairs myself in the future. If he wants to give everything to Gu Xiruo and make her the head of the family, then I will make sure they have nothing,” Gu Yanqi said ruthlessly.

Chen Lan nodded in satisfaction. “As long as you know what you’re doing.”

“I’ll stay here to watch over. Take a good rest, and we’ll endure what’s to come,” Chen Lan said, looking at him.

“Alright.”

Upon receiving the letter, Su Yu had just arrived at the border, where a batch of food and medicinal herbs was being delivered. He was overseeing the storage process with his team.

“Young Master, it’s a letter from Madam,” Yuan Bao walked in from outside and handed the letter to Su Yu.

After reading it, Su Yu furrowed his brow slightly, causing Yuan Bao to look at him with concern.

“Has something happened, Young Master? Is everything okay with Madam?” Yuan Bao inquired.

Su Yu shook his head. “Xiao He is fine, but Madam Gu passed away after revealing that she knew about the murder of the family members of the Eldest Uncle.”
