Yu Jingchuan originally had more questions for the old man, only to discover that the person had been taken away.
“What about the others?” Yu Jingchuan always restrained himself in front of Wang Jinhe.
Wang Jinhe shook her head, “When Nan Qiao and the others arrived, the person was already gone. Nan Qiao mentioned that they were all killed with a single blow.”
Yu Jingchuan furrowed his brow. Those who could be by Wang Jinhe’s side were all formidable individuals. He was well aware of their strength. The fact that they were killed with a single blow indicated the perpetrator’s formidable power.
This was troublesome.
“What are you thinking, Uncle?”
“I have trained Yuan Xu and the others personally. I know their current strength. There aren’t many who could kill them instantly and directly take down Yuan Xu,” Yu Jingchuan said, frowning.
His statement left Wang Jinhe staring at him in shock, “Uncle, do you know who this person is?”
“It’s becoming clearer. If it’s truly that person, it’s going to be tricky. But how did the Yu family get involved with them?” Yu Jingchuan muttered, his brow furrowed.
Wang Jinhe listened, feeling somewhat puzzled, “Uncle…”
“You handle other matters; I’ll go check on Yuan Xu.”
“Alright.”
Yu Jingchuan had someone take him to where Yuan Xu and the others resided. Upon arrival, he saw Nan Qiao and Yu Jie busy tending to Yuan Xu.
“Master.”
“How is Yuan Xu?”
“He’s severely injured. Thankfully, we’re using top-quality healing medicine to keep him alive. Otherwise, he might not have made it before Nan Qiao arrived,” Yu Ji said, her brow furrowed.
Despite their efforts, it would take at least half a year for Yuan Xu to fully recover. His injuries were truly severe.
“As long as he’s alive, that’s what matters. Treat him as best as you can, and let me know if you need any specific medicinal herbs,” Yu Jingchuan told the two.
Nan Qiao, without looking up, responded, “We already have the best healing medicines for treatment.”
They still had medicinal herbs grown by Sister-in-law in their possession.
These herbs were superior to many healing herbs available on the market.
Back then, Sister-in-law had anticipated that they would often go on missions and might need them, so she had left some for them. It was fortunate that they had these herbs; otherwise, Yuan Xu’s situation today would have been dire.
Yu Jingchuan raised an eyebrow, looking at Nan Qiao. Were there really medicinal herbs in their possession that were superior to what he had?
Yu Jie seemed to grasp his thoughts and explained, “The healing herbs they possess are indeed much higher in quality than what we have.”
Even though they were the same herbs, the quality in their possession was several times better, a puzzling fact that perplexed her.
“Then let’s use what you have.” Yu Jingchuan didn’t press for details on where their superior healing herbs came from.
Nan Qiao remained silent, continuing to tend to Yuan Xu’s wounds.
It took a full two hours to treat his injuries.
Looking at Yuan Xu lying on the bed, resembling a rag doll, Nan Qiao tightly pressed his lips together. If Brother Yu knew that so many of his people had died, he would be furious.
Especially with Yuan Xu being severely injured like this.
He knew that in Su Yu’s heart, while Yuan Xu and the others might not hold the same status as Yuan Bao, they were still highly regarded.
Brother Yu had never treated them as subordinates but more like brothers and friends.
He feared that Brother Yu would completely lose control upon learning about this incident.
When a person loses control, their judgment can be clouded.
The borderlands were currently in a critical state, and if Su Yu were to lose control at this moment, the consequences would be unimaginable.
Feeling agitated, Nan Qiao ran his hand through his hair, unsure whether to inform Brother Yu about this matter.
“If you’re worried about whether to tell Master, then you don’t need to fret because Miss has already written to inform him about this matter,” Yu Jie said coolly as she watched Nan Qiao, who was scratching his head in distress.
This statement caused Nan Qiao’s expression to change drastically, “What are you saying? Is that true?”
Did Sister-in-law really inform Brother Yu?
“Of course, it’s true. You were only thinking about not telling Master. If he were to find out after his return, he would only be angered.”
Nan Qiao understood this logic, but he was fearful.
“But… Brother Yu will lose control.”
Once he loses control, no one can restrain him.
“Young Master is no longer the same as before. As long as he’s willing, he can control himself,” Yu Jie, having interacted with Su Yu for some time, understood what kind of person he was.
Before heading to Forget Sorrow City, she might have believed that Su Yu would lose control. However, currently, she had no doubt that Su Yu would maintain control. After all, the current Master was not the same as before.
“Why?”
“You’ll understand in the future. Kids shouldn’t think too much,” she said, giving Nan Qiao’s head a pat from behind.
Nan Qiao’s face instantly darkened. How could this foolish woman dare to pat his head?
Brushing off her hand from his head, Nan Qiao grumpily said, “Do you think you can just touch my head like that?”
Yu Jie, observing Nan Qiao’s irritable expression, found herself liking him even more. However, she refrained from continuing to pat his head.
“Take good care of Yuan Xu, little one. I have some matters to attend to,” Yu Jie’s gaze turned slightly cold. She couldn’t believe that scoundrel had the audacity to show up here.
Nan Qiao, observing Yu Jie’s sudden change in demeanor, curiously asked, “Do you… know who did this?”
“Don’t ask what you shouldn’t. This isn’t something you young ones can handle,” she replied before leaving to find Yu Jingchuan outside.
When she arrived, Yu Shan and the others were present.
As they all looked at her simultaneously, Yu Jie raised an eyebrow and asked, “Why are you all staring at me?”
“Is it that person?” Yu Shan inquired.
Yu Jie went to help Nan Qiao treat Yuan Xu, wanting to understand how Yuan Xu had been injured, as it was crucial.
Yu Jie nodded, “Indeed, it was him.”
Only that person could break several ribs with a single punch, and the injuries were consistent across all victims.
While Yu Shan and the others could also break multiple ribs simultaneously, they couldn’t achieve the same level of precision and consistency in the injuries.
“As for his current whereabouts…”
“Who knows? He could be under anyone’s control now,” Yu Jie scoffed.
Yu Jingchuan looked at Yu Jie, “Things didn’t have to escalate to this point.”
Back then, when that person wanted to leave and take Yu Jie with him, she never agreed.
Eventually, that person left, and now over a decade had passed.
Since that person left, Yu Jie has remained single up to now.
Yu Jingchuan knew that Yu Jie had feelings for that person.
If it weren’t for those feelings back then…
“Master, there’s no need to speak such words. You saved our lives, and yet he betrayed you and harmed you. In such a situation, I cannot forgive him and can only see him as an enemy,” Yu Jie said earnestly, looking at Yu Jingchuan.
While that person could deceive and betray, she couldn’t do the same.
Without the Master, there would be no Yu Jie. Thinking back to the past, Yu Jie’s once enchanting face darkened, now tinged with a hint of solemnity.
