Lingquan Space: Fortunate Wife of a Farmer’s Family Chapter 76

Chapter 76: Repaying Everything from the Past First

“This is Wang Jinhe’s own decision, and we can’t interfere,” the village chief said, looking at them impassively.

“Village chief, isn’t that going against what you said before? We’re all from the same village, she can’t just treat us like this now that she has money, can she?” one of the women protested defiantly.

The village chief chuckled silently, “A few years ago, did you ever consider Wang Jinhe and us as fellow villagers? Did you think about sparing Wang Jinhe’s life at that time? Su Yu said that Wang Jinhe could take you along to make money, but because of the hardships they suffered back then, all of you have to repay before she’ll take you along to make money. But can you bear the burden?”

The women stared blankly at the village chief, uncertain of how to respond.

“We…” one of them began.

“Do you know how angry Su Yu was about what happened in the past? Do you know how much he treasures Xiao Bao? Xiao Bao is a great-grandson in his family, and his grandfather values him greatly. Why do you think he spared you?” the village chief continued, looking at their defiant expressions with mockery.

If only these people had shown a bit of compassion back then, things wouldn’t have turned out this way.

Looking at Xie Gui and the others who had quietly helped, Wang Jinhe remembered their kindness and kept it in her heart. When she didn’t have the capability, she didn’t bother them, but once she had the means, her first thought was to bring them along to make money.

“You can leave now. Coming to us won’t help with this matter. You can also go talk to Wang Jinhe and Su Yu. See if they are willing to take you along to make money,” the village chief said, issuing them a dismissal.

The news quickly reached Su Yu and the others in the village. After hearing what Grandma Wang had said, Wang Jinhe’s mouth twitched as she commented, “I suddenly realized they are quite persuasive. They made it sound like it was a big deal to stop you, and you were so angry. If I didn’t know what was going on, I might have believed them.”

Su Yu raised an eyebrow and said to Wang Jinhe, “They are quite clever. This is a good thing, though. If those people dare to cause trouble, I won’t hesitate to take action. Your grievances shouldn’t be in vain. They harmed you back then and now want to make money with you? How naive can they be to do such a thing?”

Grandma Wang  didn’t see anything wrong with what her granddaughter and grandson-in-law were doing; in fact, she approved of their actions.

“Jinhe can help those we can help, but we can’t assist with anything else. We can’t be of help,” the old lady said to Wang Jinhe with a serious expression.

Wang Jinhe nodded, “Grandmother, rest assured, we don’t hold grudges. Su Yu and I are not the type to repay with malice.”

“That’s good.”

“After this, Grandma, there will definitely be quite a few people coming to see you,” Wang Jinhe said to her.

Grandma Wang sat there, smiling and shaking her head. “Jinhe, I have a good quality, and that is holding grudges. I also have a flaw, and that is being protective.”

Wang Jinhe chuckled at Grandma Wang’s humor. “Grandmother, you say the funniest things.”

“What’s wrong? Is there something wrong with what I said?” Grandma Wang asked, looking at Wang Jinhe with a smile.

“Absolutely not. Grandmother, you’re spot on. When those people come later, you can handle them if you’re happy, and if you’re not, just let Yuanbao throw them out,” Wang Jinhe said confidently about giving orders to Su Yu’s subordinates.

“Good. You don’t need to worry about me. Do whatever you need to do. But, Jinhe, since you’re planning to take them along to grow and sell watermelons, you need to ensure that their watermelons can be sold,” the old lady said to Wang Jinhe.

After all, if everyone followed them to grow watermelons, they needed to ensure that they could provide a good income to those people. Otherwise, it would be a waste of their time.

“Grandmother, you can completely trust me on this. As long as we grow the fruits, we won’t have any trouble selling them,” Wang Jinhe said confidently before Su Yu had the chance to speak.

Grandma Wang nodded in reassurance. “With you saying that, I am completely at ease.”

As expected, the news of bringing the village people to grow watermelons spread throughout the village, and many people came to see Grandma Wang.

Grandma Wang looked at them with a smile in her eyes, not interrupting but just listening to what they had to say.

The people who came to see Grandma Wang  were irritated when they had spoken for so long without her reacting. “We’ve said so much, and you haven’t responded at all?”

Grandma Wang nodded, “Hmm? Have you finished speaking?”

The people surrounding Grandma Wang were exasperated. They looked at her with dissatisfaction and said, “What do you mean by this?”

“Hmm? What do you mean by ‘what do you mean’? Am I not clear enough in my expression? I simply don’t want to deal with all of you,” the old lady said with a smile, looking at them.

“You…”

“We’re all people from the same village. When your family has a good opportunity, you can’t just think about getting rich by yourselves. You should take us with you,” one of them spoke directly. She could tell that with this person, she needed to be straightforward; beating around the bush wouldn’t get through to them.

Grandma Wang looked at the person who spoke. “Jiang Shi, do you remember when you wanted my granddaughter to be put in a pig cage and be sacrificed for your family’s fortune, and you were one of those who wanted my granddaughter’s life? Back then, we begged you so much, do you remember what you said?”

Jiang Shi’s expression stiffened, and she looked at Grandma Wang. “That was many years ago, and you… you still remember that?”

“Of course, I remember. I remember how you incited everyone back then to insist on my granddaughter’s life, how you demanded that the village chief make my granddaughter, Jinhe, be put in a pig cage when the village chief said he couldn’t interfere in our family’s affairs,” Grandma Wang said expressionlessly.

Jiang Shi suddenly found herself unable to speak. Seeing her like this, Grandma Wang chuckled. She had thought that they would be much more formidable, but it seemed not.

“I can apologize,” Jiang Shi said.

“No need. My family is doing well now, and we don’t need apologies from people like you,” Grandma Wang replied.

Jiang Shi looked displeased and said, “What do you want, then?”

“I don’t want anything. I just don’t want my granddaughter to take you with her to make money. You can also try to cause trouble for our family, but you should consider whether you’ll end up in jail later. My grandson-in-law, while not very capable, is acquainted with the county magistrate,” Grandma Wang said with a smile, and her confident demeanor almost made the onlookers want to vomit blood.

“Oh, by the way, you should also see if the village chief will indulge you in doing such things,” Grandma Wang added, as if she hadn’t delivered enough blows.

Jiang Shi’s face twisted as she glared at Grandma  Wang.  “Do you think you’re so powerful? Rejecting an offer of cooperation? If you dare not to include us in your money-making plans, we’ll make the village chief kick you out.”

Threats were not going to work, and Grandma Wang stared back at Jiang Shi, unfazed. “You can give it a try.”

Shouldn’t Su Yu be her grandson-in-law and not her son-in-law?
