“Will Master Sheng go cause trouble for Princess Jinhe in the future?”
Gu Yanqi chuckled and shook his head, “He won’t have the chance. After all, the Royal Mansion is not a place you can just waltz into.”
The person beside him nodded in agreement, “Master is right. However, a complete fallout between them would benefit us.”
Gu Yanqi nodded with a smile, “You’re right. This does indeed benefit us.”
After Gu Xiruo left, Gu Sheng called in his subordinates.
Despite some lingering compassion after the previous events, reality dealt him a harsh blow.
He had been so kind to Gu Xiruo, yet his final fate ended up like this. It was his own doing, and he had no one to blame but himself.
“What are your plans, Master?” the accompanying person asked Gu Sheng.
“I had given Gu Xiruo quite a lot before, thinking to see if she had the capability to take over herself. For that reason, I had a contingency plan in place. It seems I made the right decision,” Gu Sheng remarked with a cold smile.
The onlookers exchanged glances, unsure of what to say at that moment.
They were aware of how well their master had treated Gu Xiruo before.
It was surprising that Gu Xiruo had turned their relationship into what it was now; it was like inviting trouble.
“Master, about this matter…”
“You all go handle it. Retrieve all the items, and once you have them back from the southern regions, abandon those possessions,” Gu Sheng stated after a moment of consideration.
The subordinates looked at Gu Sheng in astonishment, “Master, that part brings in the most profit. Are we really going to abandon it?”
After finally achieving today’s position, why would the master choose to abandon it? There seems to be no benefit for the master in doing so.
“These items were acquired through Princes Wang Jinhe’s and her husband’s name, which also violates the laws of Xuan Empire. If we don’t abandon them, once exposed, it will only bring endless troubles and even bloodshed. That wouldn’t bode well for us,” Gu Sheng explained, shaking his head.
If it weren’t for Gu Xiruo, he wouldn’t have taken such risks. The assets were no longer useful, and he naturally didn’t wish to keep them.
This situation was like a guillotine hanging over his neck.
“Yes, I’ll handle it right away,” the subordinate agreed.
Once they left, Gu Sheng’s visibly strained body relaxed slightly. His attendant, who had been with him all along, frowned disapprovingly, “Gu Xiruo really doesn’t know how to appreciate kindness.”
Gu Sheng shook his head with a smile, “We have no further ties with her in the future; there’s no need for such words.”
Upon hearing Gu Sheng’s words, although the attendant was still somewhat displeased, they chose not to continue expressing their feelings.
Upon returning to her courtyard, Gu Xiruo proceeded to smash various items in anger. After venting her frustration, she had the mess cleaned up promptly by her servants.
Once the servants finished cleaning, they left without rearranging the porcelain pieces.
Stopping someone who was about to leave, Gu Xiruo’s expression turned grim, “What do you mean by this?”
It seemed these individuals were not taking her seriously at all.
“Master’s orders are that if anything is broken in Miss’s courtyard, she must replace the items herself instead of having the household staff do it,” the person explained.
Gu Xiruo glared at the speaker with a dark expression, “How dare you.”
The servant nearby chuckled bitterly, realizing that the young master always seemed to find trouble for them.
Seeing the young lady’s demeanor, it was evident she wouldn’t take things lying down.
“Miss, this is Master’s directive. If you have any grievances, you can discuss them with the Master,” the servant spoke respectfully to Gu Xiruo.
It had only been a few days since the young lady’s return, yet this marked the third set of items she had broken.
Even if the household was wealthy, was such destruction truly necessary?
“Get out.”
Upon hearing Gu Xiruo’s command, regardless of her tone, the servant promptly left, fearing any delay might implicate them further with Gu Xiruo.
Gu Xiruo thought this was already the worst of her misfortunes. However, the next day, when she went to discuss matters at the shop Gu Sheng had arranged for her, she was rudely driven out.
“You actually let them drive me away? I am your employer,” Gu Xiruo was furious, feeling that nothing had been going right for her lately.
The shopkeeper, observing Gu Xiruo’s displeasure, responded, “The real employer informed us that the transfer to Miss is no longer necessary, as previously discussed.”
Upon hearing the crucial point, Gu Xiruo reacted, “What did you say? Not necessary to continue the transfer?”
Seeing Gu Xiruo’s anxious questioning, the shopkeeper looked at her with a hint of sympathy.
Although unaware of the specifics between the real employer and Miss, the situation seemed quite serious now.
“Don’t you know, Miss? The employer has reclaimed everything previously given to you,” the shopkeeper explained when Gu Xiruo seemed taken aback.
Gu Xiruo couldn’t believe it: “They had already transferred everything to me. How could they reclaim it?”
“Because the property deeds haven’t been given to Miss by the real employer.”
Gu Xiruo took a step back, realizing that Gu Sheng hadn’t given her the property deeds yet.
She had questioned Gu Sheng before about why he hadn’t given her the deeds.
At that time, Gu Sheng had mentioned that she needed to earn the approval of all the shopkeepers before receiving the property deeds.
Back then, she hadn’t cared at all, assuming that once things were in her hands, they wouldn’t be taken back.
Little did she know that Gu Sheng did it intentionally.
Turning pale with anger, she left, unwilling to let things slide.
Storming back to the Gu residence, she went straight to find Gu Sheng.
Finding Gu Sheng leisurely enjoying tea in the courtyard, she walked over and smashed the tea set on the table in a fit of rage.
Glancing at the shattered fragments on the ground, Gu Sheng looked coldly at Gu Xiruo, “What are you doing?”
“Why are you taking back those things? They were all gifts from you to me. Who are you to reclaim them?” Gu Xiruo accused angrily.
Gu Sheng instructed the person nearby, “Go and bring another tea set.”
Seeing Gu Sheng still leisurely drinking tea at a time like this, Gu Xiruo’s expression darkened even more.
“Are you even listening to me?” Gu Xiruo questioned.
Gu Sheng replied indifferently, “What if I listen? What if I don’t?”
“Why… I just want to know why you are taking back the things you gave me? How does this benefit you?” Gu Xiruo gritted her teeth and asked.
Gu Sheng stared at Gu Xiruo as if she were foolish, “Taking back those items gives me the confidence to live on my terms. Whether Yanqi cares about me in the future or not, it doesn’t matter. What benefit does it bring to me to keep them with you?”
Listening to Gu Sheng’s matter-of-fact words, Gu Xiruo trembled with anger. Was this the same father who had once been so kind to her?
“What about me?”
“You? What does that have to do with me? If you feel you don’t have enough in your possession, you can ask your parents for more. There’s no need to come to me.” His possessions, even if discarded later on, would not yield Gu Xiruo a single cent.
