Lingquan Space: Fortunate Wife of a Farmer’s Family Chapter 815

Chapter 815: The Poison King

“Gu Yanqi, don’t act all mysterious and shady,” Gu Xiruo’s irritation grew as she coldly confronted Gu Yanqi.

“Then, How did I get poisoned, Gu Xiruo? Do you even know? Are you here pretending to care, just to see if I’m dead?” Gu Yanqi’s voice turned icy.

Gu Xiruo’s tendency to find excuses for herself was nauseating and repulsive to him.

Fuming with anger, Gu Xiruo found herself unable to retaliate.

Taking a deep breath to calm herself, she suppressed her rage, “How would I know how you were poisoned?”

“You truly have no idea. We just had a meal together, I drank the wine you offered, and suddenly I was poisoned. Care to explain that?” Gu Yanqi gazed at Gu Xiruo, his expression filled with suspicion.

Watching Gu Xiruo closely, Wang Jinhe, sitting nearby, suddenly became curious about how she would respond to this question.

“You’re being defensive. Are you getting defensive because you feel guilty? If nothing happened, why are you so eager?” Wang Jinhe interjected at the right moment.

Giving Wang Jinhe a fierce glare but held back due to her status, Gu Xiruo remained silent, standing still.

Observing the motionless figure, Wang Jinhe turned to Gu Yanqi, indicating that he should handle the situation himself.

Understanding Wang Jinhe’s unspoken message, Gu Yanqi calmly stated, “Since everything’s fine, you can leave. I’m alive and well, so there’s no need for you to worry too much.”

“Even though I’ll give you the benefit of the doubt that you didn’t poison me, remember not to give me a reason to retaliate. This is the second time, and remember, third time’s the charm. You’re on your own,” Gu Yanqi warned Gu Xiruo with a solemn tone.

If Gu Xiruo chose to let things go, finding someone suitable to share her life with and holding onto her possessions, he would overlook past grievances.

But if Gu Xiruo were to commit any more detestable actions, Gu Yanqi would not simply let it slide.

“Your possessions are hard-earned; it’s best to cherish them to avoid ending up with nothing in the end, don’t you think?”

Gu Xiruo’s hands trembled with anger.”Are you lecturing me or threatening me?” she questioned sharply.

“It’s not exactly a lecture or a threat. Consider it as advice. Don’t wait until you have nothing left to regret,” Gu Yanqi offered his sincere advice, reaching his limit. If Gu Xiruo still couldn’t comprehend, then there was little more he could do.

However, it wasn’t that Gu Xiruo didn’t understand; she simply didn’t want to heed Gu Yanqi’s words.

“My affairs are none of your concern, and I certainly don’t need you meddling or giving me advice here,” Gu Xiruo retorted.

“Very well then. Just make sure I don’t find any leverage against you because I won’t hesitate to act. You can test me if you doubt it,” Gu Yanqi warned sternly.

As Gu Xiruo was about to say something, Gu Yanqi issued an order to have her escorted out: “Escort the guest out.”

“Miss Gu, please.” With Gu Yanqi’s words, Gu Xiruo became a guest of the Gu family.

With a cold expression, Gu Xiruo asserted, “I am the Gu family’s eldest daughter. You have no right to make me leave.”

“Gu Xiruo, you are nothing more than an adopted daughter of the Gu family. Over these years, the Gu family has done more than enough for you. If you continue to cause trouble, it reflects poorly on you,” Gu Yanqi warned.

At this point, Gu Xiruo’s persistence seemed unwarranted. Shouldn’t she obediently leave the Gu family? Doing so would elevate her reputation.

Turning to depart, Gu Xiruo’s eyes showed a clear intent to harm.

“You have offended her. She may seek your life next. Despite being poisoned and unconscious before, she already attempted to have you killed once. A second attempt wouldn’t be out of the question,” the warning was given, albeit uncomfortably in the present company.

“I can hear you. Shouldn’t you consider my feelings?” Gu Yanqi said

“What do my considerations have to do with you?”

“She hired someone from Wangjiang Tower. Brother Yu mentioned a possible connection between Gu Xiruo and Jiang Wang. Be cautious, as Brother Yu’s associates may not always assist you,” Nan Qiao interjected just as Gu Yanqi was about to speak.

“Your poison is cured, our task is done. Brother Yu instructed me to tell you to handle your own affairs from now on and to stop bothering my sister-in-law. If such a thing happens again, you’ll be on your own to face the consequences,” Nan Qiao relayed Su Yu’s message sternly, leaving even Gu Yanqi and Wang Jinhe somewhat speechless.

It seemed rather inappropriate to speak like that in front of so many people. Why couldn’t such matters be discussed privately? It was puzzling to convey such a message in public.

Gu Yanqi paused for a moment, then couldn’t help but smile.

Seems like this prince is quite jealous.

“Alright, got it.”

Looking at Wang Jinhe, Gu Yanqi couldn’t help but feel a tinge of bitterness, “If you ever feel upset about anything, come to me. If Su Yu bullies you, I’ll take care of him.”

While Gu Yanqi knew Su Yu would never bully Wang Jinhe, he couldn’t resist offering his protection.

Nan Qiao scrutinized Gu Yanqi, eyeing him critically.

“With your skills, you think you can take on my brother Su Yu? You can’t even beat me,” Nan Qiao remarked disdainfully.

Gu Yanqi suddenly found this person quite disagreeable, feeling a sting to his pride.

“Everything Nan Qiao said is true. You indeed wouldn’t stand a chance against him,” Wang Jinhe added, seemingly oblivious to Gu Yanqi’s wounded pride, as she spoke up.

Gu Yanqi felt like an arrow had pierced his heart, and it was his own younger sister who had delivered the blow.

“Alright, I understand he’s formidable. No need to rub it in like that,” Gu Yanqi responded, feeling a bit disheartened.

Wang Jinhe looked at Gu Yanqi strangely, wondering why he felt so attacked. She had only spoken the truth; when had she ever tried to bring him down?

“Now that you’re fine, I’ll head back,” Wang Jinhe said, deciding to leave.

Gu Yanqi was reluctant to see Gu Xiruo leave so soon but couldn’t find a reason to make her stay, so he reluctantly nodded in agreement, saying, “Alright.”

Back home, Gu Xiruo couldn’t shake off the unease caused by Gu Yanqi’s demeanor. Alone, she headed towards the back of the house.

She found someone in an inconspicuous room.

“The medicine you gave me was useless. Gu Yanqi has already awakened,” Gu Xiruo expressed her frustration.

“It’s intriguing that someone could counteract my Poison King’s poison,” the person remarked.

Feeling agitated, Gu Xiruo restrained herself in his presence and asked somewhat obediently, “What should we do next?”

“This is your own problem; you shouldn’t be coming to me for answers,” the person replied.

Upon hearing this response, Gu Xiruo felt increasingly frustrated. “I need your help.”

“I’ve helped you three times already.”

“I can provide you with any poisonous substance you desire.”
