Shaking her head to refocus, Wang Jinhe couldn’t let the two children distract her.
Turning to the maid beside her, she inquired, “Where did your master go?”
“He went to spar with young master Nan Qiao. He used lightness skills to fly over there,” the maid pointed in a direction.
“Flew.” Su Yanxi waved her hand excitedly.
Wang Jinhe finally understood that he had indeed flown away.
“Are you that excited? When your father returns, maybe he can take you flying?” she suggested.
“Flew.” It was unclear if Su Yanxi truly grasped Wang Jinhe’s words, as she excitedly waved her hands, unable to contain her joy.
Wang Jinhe couldn’t help but find the situation a bit amusing.
She gently ruffled her daughter’s head, saying, “Alright, flying it is.”
When Su Yu returned, before Wang Jinhe could say anything, Su Yanxi already had her hand out, asking to be carried, “Daddy, fly.”
Su Yu turned to Wang Jinhe, confused, “Fly?”
“You were seen sparring with Nan Qiao, and now she wants you to take her flying,” Wang Jinhe explained, seeing Su Yu’s puzzled expression.
Wang Jinhe had a hunch that after Su Yu played with the children this time, Yanxi would definitely pester him to carry her and “fly” in the future.
Su Yu was taken by surprise, not expecting this request.
His daughter wanted to experience the sensation of flying, a small request that he could easily fulfill.
“Alright, Daddy will take you,” he agreed.
“Do you want to go too, Yanchen?” Su Yu asked his son.
Fairness was important; if his daughter was going, his son should join as well.
After a brief consideration, Su Yanchen nodded in agreement, “I’ll go.”
Su Yu carried one child in each arm, utilizing his lightness skills to take them outside to play.
Wang Jinhe shook her head helplessly; Su Yu truly was a big kid at heart.
It reminded Wang Jinhe of when they used to care for their eldest child; whatever the child wanted, they got. Now, with two younger ones, it seemed to be more of the same.
Wang Jinhe sat waiting on a chair for some time before Su Yu returned with the children.
Seeing the children so excited, Wang Jinhe walked over and affectionately ruffled their heads, asking, “Are you happy?”
Yanxi nodded and said, “Learn.”
Wang Jinhe glanced at Su Yu, puzzled by this response.
“Xixi didn’t want to come back. I told her that next year, I’ll start teaching her martial arts, so she can learn lightness skills and fly on her own without needing me to carry her,” Su Yu explained.
If he hadn’t made this promise to Xixi, they might not have been able to return.
That girl was truly a handful.
Wang Jinhe had expected this outcome but was surprised that Su Yu had already resolved the situation.
“I thought Xixi would keep pestering you to carry her, but you’ve nipped that desire in the bud,” Wang Jinhe remarked. It was a good solution, sparing them from daily nagging.
Su Yu nodded with a smile, “It’s fine occasionally, but it’s not suitable for frequent play.”
“You’re right.”
As they sat down, each holding a child, Su Yu turned to Wang Jinhe and asked, “Did you gain anything from this outing?”
“There were gains for sure. We dealt with two opportunistic individuals at the workshop, and at the academy today, there was talk about expanding it. However, I believe expanding the academy is minor compared to securing good teachers. After all, finding competent educators is no easy task.” Wang Jinhe also worried that the local academy might raise objections.
Su Yu shook his head, saying, “I hadn’t planned on expanding.”
“We should select the best; not everyone can come to study,” he added.
Wang Jinhe looked at Su Yu in surprise, “You really hadn’t considered it?”
Su Yu nodded, “I haven’t considered it.”
Since the inception of the academy, Su Yu knew that once the reputation of the teachers here became known, many parents would want to send their children for studies.
Su Yu had initially built the academy to its maximum capacity. At the outset, he didn’t think too much about it. However, moving forward, he planned to be selective, focusing not only on academic performance but also on good character.
Prospective students would need to pass an entrance exam to have the opportunity to enroll at the academy.
Once the academy stabilized in a couple of years, Su Yu intended to establish various systems within the institution. It was crucial to consider how to handle those who excelled and how to support others who needed improvement. These were decisions that required careful thought and planning.
At the outset, he never intended to take a casual approach to this endeavor.
He hoped that the students from this academy would be able to contribute to the people of Xuan Empire, rather than just idling away their lives.
Wang Jinhe had never considered these issues before and was surprised that Su Yu had already thought through everything so thoroughly.
“I hope that the students from here will be individuals who can be of significant service in the future,” Su Yu expressed to Wang Jinhe.
“Of course, not all of them, but those from the top classes,” he clarified. For others, their success would depend on their own abilities.
Wang Jinhe nodded in agreement, “If you truly intend to do this, it seems feasible. However, the implementation might be a bit challenging, and you’ll be quite busy with it.”
Su Yu raised an eyebrow at Wang Jinhe, saying, “I don’t need to be hands-on. I’ll just communicate the instructions and let the teachers handle it.”
Wang Jinhe was left speechless, realizing that this guy had everything planned out, needing only to speak a few words to get things done.
Playfully pinching Su Yu’s cheek, Wang Jinhe jokingly remarked, “You’re too cunning. Are you sure they won’t have any objections once they receive your instructions?”
“I’ve lightened their workload significantly. Do you think they’d dare to object?” Su Yu replied confidently.
Wang Jinhe had never seen someone as shameless as Su Yu.
Truly shameless.
Shaking her head in resignation, she said, “Stop bullying people all the time. It’s making me feel embarrassed.”
“They’re used to it. If I give the word, they’ll happily carry out the tasks without any complaints. Do you believe me?” Su Yu asked confidently.
Wang Jinhe remained silent because she did believe Su Yu’s words.
After all, Su Yu’s status as a prominent figure was quite impressive, especially among scholars who all yearned for his favor.
Observing Su Yu last year, Wang Jinhe felt a bit peculiar.
However, the way she scrutinized Su Yu made him feel uncomfortable.
“Why are you looking at me like that?” Su Yu reached out to cover Wang Jinhe’s eyes, preventing her from staring at him.
Removing the hand covering her eyes, Wang Jinhe looked at Su Yu and remarked, “I just think your reputation as a prominent figure is too advantageous.”
“I wonder if those scholars find it frustrating that you refuse to enter the government service?” It’s probably normal for them to greet Su Yu every day.
Just think about the Prime Minister.
Upon learning that Su Yu was the dandy scholar, he immediately wanted to resign from his position.
This indicates just how high his status truly is.
“It’s unavoidable. If I don’t want to take on an official position, that’s my choice. Whether they are disappointed or not, it’s not my concern,” Su Yu shrugged. He couldn’t see it; out of sight, out of mind.
